Chapter 3 - THE FIRST GUEST.

PART THREE

~3.

SONIA

It was a beautiful morning—one of the sexiest mornings I'd enjoyed in a long time.

The curtains were already drawn open, and I couldn't take my eyes off the peaceful view outside. One thing I absolutely loved about my new apartment was the quiet warmth the environment wrapped around me. It felt safe… soft… mine.

"Thank you, Daddy, for always providing for your princess," I chuckled to myself.

Still stretched across the bed, I squeezed my legs together under the duvet and let out a long, lazy yawn.

"Ohhh… what a good morning to start the day."

Just then, my phone buzzed. I quickly reached for it, and Tracy's message lit up the screen.

"Good morning, girl. Meet you in two hours. Bye. Love you."

My eyes widened, and a slow grin spread across my face.

Well, well…

So today was really going to be a beautiful day.

Because what on earth made Tracy agree to leave her prison-like hostel without a single excuse? Y'all have no idea how hard I've been trying to drag that girl out of that place for weeks now.

Trust me, I've done everything possible to convince her to get a proper apartment that actually suits her. I mean, the girl is comfortable financially to an extent—so why is she still living like a hermit in a hostel?

Tracy never stops surprising me.

Yes, she's calm… reserved… maybe even a little timid—

But timid?

Nah. I refuse to believe that.

This is a new age, and one thing I pride myself on is helping people step out of their shells. And Tracy? Oh, I'm determined to bring out the version of her I know is hiding underneath all that quiet.

Swiftly, I threw off the covers and headed straight to the shower, already imagining the kind of magic I was going to create with her today. The thought alone had me buzzing with excitement.

After my shower, I stepped out of the tub and stood still for a moment, slowly drying my body. My eyes drifted to the mirror in front of me, and I couldn't help but admire the reflection staring back.

"My God… now this is what I call heavenly craftsmanship," I murmured with a playful smile. "Naturally endowed… while some girls are out here paying fortunes for it."

A soft blush crept across my cheeks.

Shaking off the moment, I slipped into my outfit and hurried into the kitchen to prepare breakfast. A quick glance at my menu made me nod in satisfaction.

Quaker Oats.

Toasted bread.

Eggs.

Banana.

Apple juice.

Perfect.

Y'all, I'm a sweet girlfriend, okay? I want my girl feeling happy, relaxed, and completely rejuvenated today.

I was moving quickly between the counter and the stove when a sudden knock hit the door.

I froze.

My heart skipped.

Is she here already?

Without wasting another second, I abandoned the kitchen and hurried to the door. I pulled it open—

—and my jaw nearly dropped.

Kelvin.

Standing there like he owned the morning, looking annoyingly fine with his shirt half-unbuttoned and that familiar confident smile.

God help me… this man knew exactly how to be distracting.

He leaned in slightly, gently rubbing my cheek.

"Hey, mama. How are you doing today?"

I straightened immediately, forcing my face to stay neutral.

"I'm good, Kelvin. Good morning," I replied, my voice edged with suspicion.

Because what exactly was he doing here this early?

Kelvin—my stubborn ex who clearly didn't understand the meaning of I'm done.

We used to be everything. My ride-or-die. My person.

Until he messed up.

Badly.

Betraying me with one of the very friends I brought into his apartment? Yeah… that kind of wound doesn't just disappear. Ever since that day, I swore never to take any of my female friends to my man's house again.

"Kelvin, not today. I didn't invite you. Please go," I snapped.

"Come on, mama," he pleaded softly. "I said I'm sorry. I've apologized so many times, baby. Let's forget the past and move forward. I love you. I'm sorry for what happened."

I folded my arms slowly.

"What happened, Kelvin?" I pressed. "Say it."

Instead of answering properly, he pulled me into his arms, his eyes searching mine as he leaned closer—clearly aiming for a kiss.

I slipped out of his hold immediately.

"Okay… what else do you want me to do, Sonia?" he begged. "Just tell me. I'll do anything for us."

For a split second, my resolve wavered. He knew exactly how to soften me, and that was the dangerous part.

I exhaled slowly.

"It's okay, Kelvin. I'll think about it and get back to you," I said firmly. "But right now, you need to leave before my girlfriend Tracy gets here. We have plans today, and I don't want any… repeat performances of your so-called mistake."

I stepped back and gestured toward the door.

"If you don't mind, I'd like you to excuse me. I was in the kitchen."

Before he could argue again—

I shut the door.

Hard.

Walking back inside, I folded my arms with a small huff.

Honestly, I hate it when a man I love cheats on me.

If you're my man, then stay glued to my skirt—and nobody else's.

He really thinks it'll be that easy to win me back after misbehaving?

Nah.

Kelvin is going to have to try a whole lot harder.

I headed back to the kitchen to continue preparing breakfast, but I paused when my phone lit up.

"On my way now. See you in 20 mins."

My lips curled into a pleased smile.

"Finally," I whispered under my breath.

I picked up the pace immediately—tossing the bread in the oven, blending the apples, and carefully pouring the fresh juice into a glass jar. Within minutes, everything was ready.

I set the dining table neatly, making sure every plate sat just right. Then I called out, "Alexa, play soft music."

A smooth, mellow tune floated into the background, wrapping the apartment in the exact mood I wanted.

Perfect.

A few minutes later, the faint sound of a car pulling up outside reached me. My heart did a tiny flip as I hurried to the window and peeked through the curtain.

And there she was.

Stepping out of an Uber.

I tilted my head slowly, watching her.

"This girl needs some upgrades," I muttered quietly. "I thought she had money… or are my instincts failing me?"

The first day I met Tracy, she was packaged to perfection—elegant, confident, completely ravishing. That version of her had hooked my curiosity instantly.

But lately…

I folded my arms lightly.

Why am I seeing a different side of her now?

I sighed softly.

"Well… I'll find out someday."

She paid the driver and began walking toward my door. The moment the doorbell rang, I deliberately waited a few seconds—just so it wouldn't look like I had been standing there dying to see her.

Even though…

Yeah.

I absolutely was.

Finally, I reached for the handle and pulled the door open.

The moment our eyes met, her smile bloomed—and mine answered without permission.

God, I had missed her.

We stepped into each other's arms in a warm hug, and I gently led her inside.

It was her first time visiting my new apartment. I had mentioned the move to her weeks ago and sent the location casually, so the fact that she remembered?

Yeah… I noticed.

Her eyes wandered around the living room, wide with admiration. I stayed close beside her as she moved slowly, touching little things here and there like a curious child.

I loved watching her take it all in.

She loved it.

"Girl, you no carry last o," she said, shaking her head with a grin. "Your apartment is really beautiful. I love it."

I flipped my hair lightly and smiled.

"Abi o. Thanks to my dad. He makes sure I'm always comfortable," I said playfully. "Being the last child comes with serious perks and premium pampering. I get whatever I want, whenever I want."

I leaned closer, eyes teasing.

"Am I spoiled?" I threw the question at Tracy.

She chuckled, waving her hand dismissively.

"Oh no, you're not. Some people are seriously praying for the kind of access you have. You're blessed, not spoiled."

My smile softened instantly.

I reached out and gently rubbed her cheek.

"You see why I like you?" I murmured.

Tracy laughed softly, a little shy as always.

"Oh please, forgive my manners," I said suddenly, straightening up. "I made breakfast. Come, let's eat."

I guided her toward the dining table, and we both settled into our seats. For a few quiet minutes, we simply enjoyed the food—the soft music humming gently in the background.

Peaceful.

Easy.

Comfortable.

I glanced at her over my glass, a slow, knowing smile forming on my lips.

"I have gist for you later, my love," I said lightly. "For now… let's just enjoy this breakfast."

She smiled back at me.

And something about the way her eyes lingered told me today was about to get very… interesting.
