Chapter 12 - Episode 12 — A Dangerous Pout

Lucas's words lingered in the air.

"You're an unusual girl."

June wasn't sure how to take that.

Was it criticism? Was it praise? Was she in trouble again?

Her fingers tightened slightly around the plate.

"…I'm sorry if I said anything wrong," she said softly.

Then, without realizing it, she puffed her cheeks just a little — a tiny pout forming on her lips, her brows knitting in innocent worry.

"I didn't mean to offend Your Highness."

Her voice came out small and sweet, almost like a child apologizing sincerely.

The effect was devastating.

Lucas went completely still.

In all his life, no one had dared to look even slightly displeased in front of him — let alone pout.

And certainly not in such a harmless, honest way.

His mind blanked for a second.

What is this feeling…?

He clicked his tongue and looked away, as if the sight itself was troublesome.

"…I didn't say you were wrong," he muttered, his voice quieter than before.

June blinked, surprised.

"Oh…"

Her pout faded instantly, replaced by relief.

Which, somehow, made her even more disarming.

Lucas felt a strange tightness in his chest.

Dangerous, he thought.

Not because she was powerful.

But because she was unknowingly breaking down the walls he had built for years.
