Chapter 2 - Silver

Parker cautiously approached the front door. His spider sense warned him of danger, but he didn't have time to react. A powerful blow sent the door flying and knocked Pete straight into the wall. An unknown figure entered the apartment. Pete only had time to put on his Spider-Man mask. 

"Hey, um, who are you, exactly? I didn't order any pizza!" joked Spider-Man.

"I thought you did. 

"What?!

"What?

The female voice surprised Parker. The girl who had disturbed his sleep and slightly broken the door was none other than Silver Sablina, the Silver Sable!

"Hi, Spider-Man!" she said and hugged Pete.

"Whoa! Whoa, whoa, whoa, easy there. I'm just... um... ahem," said Pete.

"Oh, damn. Sorry, Peter," Silver apologised and handed the boy his costume.

Pete put on his "trousers." They hugged again.

"Ahem. Silver. Do you have a clone too? Because you seemed kind of busy.

"Sorry, Peter. I really was busy. Very important business. Which you need to help me with," explained Silver.

"Yes, yes, of course, I'll help... But can it wait until tomorrow? Say, at 9?" Pete replied, yawning.

"No, it's very urgent. Put on your suit, Peter. And...

"Yes? 

"Sorry I didn't come to dinner...

"It's okay. I'm used to being stood up all the time.

A few minutes later, they were flying through the night sky over New York. Memories of the times they had worked together flooded Parker's mind, but the light breeze kept Pete awake and alert. At 4:34 a.m., the heroes landed on the roof of one of the city's hundreds of skyscrapers.

"Spider?

"Yes, Sable?

"Do you trust me? 

"What? I mean, yes, of course I trust you. We're partners...

"No, not that kind of trust. Do you trust me?

"Yes," Peter replied firmly.

"Then let's go in.
