Bai Zhi asked suspiciously, "How do you know all this so clearly?"
Sang Mo fell silent for a few seconds at Bai Zhi's question. He looked away and said, a little awkwardly, "I accidentally overheard them."
She watched him, trying to read his expression. To her surprise, she noticed his ears were slightly red. He seemed like someone who rarely lied; even though his face remained expressionless, his tense jawline and tightly pursed lips betrayed his discomfort.
A knowing smile appeared on Bai Zhi's face. She didn't press the matter, instead turning back to catching the falling petals.
Sang Mo had expected Bai Zhi to either not believe him or to press him for details. But after waiting a while in silence, he turned and saw her catching petals, a brilliant smile on her fair face. The wind sent petals drifting down, and a few landed in her hair. She reached up to pluck them out, only for a couple more to settle in their place.
