Chapter 12 - Chapter 11: I'm Probably a Fake Ghost

Men's laughter mixed with the flirtatious giggles of women echoed through the private room.

Sister Bai nudged Pei Ye and shot her a meaningful glance.

"You stood Mr. Du up yesterday. You should go apologize to him, or else you'll leave a terrible impression," Sister Bai whispered in her ear. "Do you see those rich second-generation heirs next to him? They are all Mr. Du's friends. If you behave poorly, do you think they'll have a good impression of you? Go apologize and don't miss this opportunity."

Pei Ye's arrival drew the attention of the young men.

Xiao Hong's bare face was striking enough. If properly dressed and made up, she would be a rare Beauty even in the entertainment industry.

One of the men tipped Mr. Du a wink. She was so pretty, it was no wonder Mr. Du was dead set on getting his hands on her.

Mr. Du took a sip of his liquor. The liquid slid down his throat and flowed into his stomach, igniting a surge of heat.

"Come here, sit down and have two drinks. Once you finish, we can consider yesterday's grudge settled."

Mr. Du poured Pei Ye a glass of wine and patted the empty seat beside him, gesturing for her to sit.

Pei Ye cast her eyes down at the spiked drink. Having learned from his failure yesterday, Mr. Du had used a heavy dose of drugs this time.

"If you don't drink, you're not giving me face!"

Seeing that Pei Ye did not move, a look of displeasure appeared on Mr. Du's face.

Sister Bai grew anxious. If Pei Ye refused to cooperate today, she would have to spit out the money she had already pocketed from Mr. Du.

"Drink it! Don't just stand there like an idiot!"

Pei Ye finally moved. She stepped forward and bent over to pick up the glass. Mr. Du couldn't help but reveal a faint, triumphant smile.

The next second, a long leg accurately stomped on his collarbone, and the amber liquid splashed all over his face.

Pei Ye asked coldly, "Does it taste good?"

Mr. Du was stunned. He hadn't even seen how Pei Ye did it.

"Fuck! You ungrateful bitch!"

Burning with rage, Mr. Du cursed aloud.

But Pei Ye was not one to be trifled with. She applied pressure to her foot, pressing down so hard that his collarbone caved in, making him howl in pain.

One of Mr. Du's friends rushed forward, only to be slapped so hard that his ears rang. Over a hundred and sixty pounds of meat plunged headfirst into the adjacent sofa, leaving him seeing stars.

Sister Bai and the hostesses screamed in terror, but something even more frightening soon occurred.

They ran out of the private room's door, but their vision blurred, and they found themselves running right back inside.

An eerie breeze swept past. Accompanied by a foul stench, a red silhouette abruptly appeared at the doorway.

The messy private room fell silent for a split second, followed immediately by even higher-pitched screams. Sister Bai's voice was the most piercing of all.

If a cultivator were present, they would have seen that the private room was thick with gloomy yin energy and surging with Evil Qi, its temperature having dropped to a terrifying low.

The red silhouette glanced at Pei Ye and then at Mr. Du beneath her foot, a look of struggle flashing across her lifeless, ghostly face.

After a long while, she silently shifted sideways for two steps, fixing her gaze on Mr. Du's scummy friends and Sister Bai.

The scummy friends failed to recognize the red silhouette, but Sister Bai shrieked in terror, "Xiao... Xiao Ying..."

Hearing Sister Bai call her name, the corners of the red silhouette's lips curled into a smile.

Her disheveled long hair, matted with blood, suddenly swelled without wind, wrapping tightly around Sister Bai's head like a tidal wave.

One of the red silhouette's eyes glared at Sister Bai, while the other eyeball rolled around to look at Pei Ye.

Seeing that Pei Ye wasn't paying attention to her, she dragged Sister Bai to a corner by her long hair. Suffocated by the female ghost's black hair, Sister Bai struggled endlessly.

However, as time passed, her movements grew weaker and weaker.

"Wait a minute!"

Pei Ye removed her foot, sweeping her leg to kick Mr. Du aside.

The red silhouette hesitated, her dead eyes seemingly showing a trace of fear. Finally, she unwillingly chose to compromise. Although she didn't release Sister Bai's head, she freed her nostrils to keep her from suffocating to death.

"Your name is Xiao Ying? Lan Ying?"

No wonder the red silhouette had looked somewhat familiar at first. It turned out she was someone the original host, Xiao Hong, knew.

Lan Ying had known the original host, though Xiao Hong hadn't seen her in two months. Sister Bai had claimed that Lan Ying had struck it rich, becoming a wealthy man's mistress and living a good life.

But... looking at Lan Ying's current state, it couldn't possibly be described as good.

"Are you going to stop me from taking my revenge?"

At these words, the yin energy surrounding Lan Ying suddenly grew much thicker.

Pei Ye chose a comfortable posture, sinking half her body into the sofa, and fished out a cigarette from the pocket of the half-dead Mr. Du next to her. She didn't reach for a match or lighter; with just a snap of her fingers, the cigarette was lit.

"I believe in being reasonable. I don't even know how you died, so why would I stop you from getting your revenge?"

Lan Ying looked at Pei Ye warily. "Then why did you stop me?"

Why? To complete the mission, of course.

When Sister Bai exposed the red silhouette's identity, the first side quest—[Determine the red silhouette's identity]—had been marked as completed. She had called out to Lan Ying naturally for the sake of the second quest.

"Did you cause the car accident at the Five Crossroads? Or rather, do you know something about it?"

Lan Ying's pale, deathly face suddenly broke into a bizarre smile.

"I did it. He deserved to die! They all deserve to die!"

[Congratulations, player. You have gained 50 Merit and 5 points of Qi Fortune.]

With a cigarette dangling from her lips, Pei Ye stood up. "Alright, please go ahead. I'll be leaving first."

Mr. Du was speechless.

Mr. Du's scummy friends were equally speechless.

"She's a ghost!"

Pei Ye flicked her cigarette ash and rolled her eyes. "So what? What does that have to do with me?"

"Aren't you curious... why I want to kill them?"

Pei Ye replied bluntly, "Not interested."

When ghosts sought to settle scores with the living, it was mostly because they had suffered wrongs while they were alive. Pei Ye didn't care about that.

Lan Ying continued on her own, "Because they all deserve to die. They murdered me, so they must pay with their lives."

Pei Ye felt helpless. "That's why I told you to go right ahead."

Lan Ying angrily pointed at Sister Bai, who could only whimper with her mouth gagged by the ghostly hair. "She is also a main culprit."

Pei Ye was left speechless. She really wasn't interested in a ghost's emotional journey.

Weeping two trails of bloody tears, Lan Ying revealed a hideous smile. "She brought you here today, didn't she? Did she tell you she'd introduce you to some rich guys, and if you pleased them, you might become one's girlfriend and eventually marry into a wealthy family? That's exactly how she tricked me into coming here. And then these animals actually... they actually..."

As she spoke, even more bloody tears gushed from Lan Ying's bulging, pitch-black eyes.

"Sister, I've seen plenty of trash like this."

Pei Ye showed no surprise. The Federation had no shortage of such scum, and she had encountered her fair share.

With scum like this, there was no need for extra words—just beat them up. For severe cases, directly beat them half to death.

Anyway, the Federation's medical technology was so advanced that even severed limbs could be completely restored, let alone being beaten half to death. If the parents were reasonable, the matter would end there. If the parents were also unreasonable, Pei Ye's usual approach was to deal with the spoiled brats and their parents all together.

Having run rampant for so many years, she had never once met her match. Since she advocated fighting violence with violence when dealing with trash, why would she have a double standard and stop a female ghost?

For Pei Ye, as long as one didn't cross the bottom line of the Federation's laws, all methods were legitimate, including violence. More importantly—this wasn't the Federation!

"Since you're a ghost, aren't you capable of torture methods that living people could never imagine or pull off? He won't be able to shake you off even if he flees to the ends of the earth!"

Lan Ying was left speechless.

Between her and Pei Ye, who was the actual fierce ghost seeking revenge? She wouldn't even give them the mercy of a quick death!
