Chapter 13: Class Selection: The Blank Slate

The night was unusually still.

No wind rattled the thatch. No distant dogs barked. Even the crickets seemed to have paused their metallic chorus, as though the village itself held its breath. Inside the hut, the hearth fire had burned down to a nest of glowing coals that gave off more warmth than light. Mira and Torr slept on their shared mat in the far corner, breathing slow and even. Bulleh lay awake on his blanket, small chest rising and falling in perfect rhythm with the quiet.

He had waited for this moment.

Ever since the System first whispered Class: None (available) in those earliest hours after rebirth, he had felt the blank slate humming at the edge of his awareness—like an unstrung instrument waiting for the first note. The Harvest Helper quest, the pebble's secrets, the beads from the Store, the deepening bonds with family and land—they had all been preparations. Now, at Level 12 overall and with three loosely aligned classes already active (Peasant Lv.12, Mystic Herbalist Lv.10, Rural Mystic Lv.9), the System judged him ready for formal selection.

A golden notification bloomed in the darkness, soft enough not to wake his parents.

[Class Selection Interface – Primary Slot Unlocked]

Transmigrator privilege: Immediate access granted (natives must wait until age 5–10 awakening ceremony).

You may now choose your foundational class.

This choice will serve as the root node for all future fusions and evolutions.

Available options are dynamically generated based on:

→ Soul imprint (Sufi mystic / poet / seeker)

→ Accumulated experience & skills

→ Environment (rural village, mana density, family bonds)

→ Current active pseudo-classes (Peasant, Mystic Herbalist, Rural Mystic)

Three primary pathways appeared, each represented by a glowing sigil that hovered above his blanket like gentle lanterns.

1. Scholar
Sigil: An open book with light spilling from its pages
Perks at Lv.1:
→ +25% learning speed for all knowledge-based skills
→ Library cross-reference efficiency +15%
→ Identify (passive): Reveals basic information about objects, people, skills
Flavor text: The mind that questions becomes the mind that knows.

2. Mystic
Sigil: A crescent moon cradling a single flame
Perks at Lv.1:
→ +20% mana regeneration in natural environments
→ Aura Sense range & precision +30%
→ Intuitive Insight (passive): 10% chance to glimpse hidden truths or future possibilities during meditation
Flavor text: The heart that listens hears the unspoken name of God.

3. Wanderer
Sigil: A sandal print filled with stars
Perks at Lv.1:
→ +15% movement speed & stamina regeneration while traveling
→ Danger Sense (weak): Early warning for immediate threats
→ Cultural Adaptability: +20% favorability gain with new factions / races
Flavor text: The road is long, but every step sings.

Bulleh studied them in silence.

Scholar aligned perfectly with the Eternal Library—his greatest weapon and greatest joy. Mystic echoed the Sufi core of his soul, the endless seeking, the love beyond form. Wanderer spoke to the life he had lived on Earth: barefoot pilgrimages, nights under open skies, verses carried from village to village.

But he was not forced to choose only one.

The System had already proven it allowed multiples—dilution be damned. His 1000× growth multiplier turned penalties into footnotes.

Still… the interface labeled this the Primary Slot. A root node. The foundation upon which hybrids would be built.

He considered the fusions already in play.

Peasant had given him soil-sense and village harmony. Mystic Herbalist had let him speak to plants and infuse healing intent. Rural Mystic had deepened his bond with the land's slow pulse.

If he chose Scholar now, he could accelerate knowledge absorption to terrifying speeds—turning every pebble, every lullaby, every glance into exponential power.

If Mystic, he could deepen the spiritual wellspring, perhaps unlocking true divine communion earlier.

If Wanderer… freedom. The open road. The multiverse itself, waiting.

He closed his eyes—not to decide blindly, but to listen.

Inside the Eternal Library, all three sigils now appeared on the central podium, slowly rotating.

The Book of Becoming (that untitled tome with his own handwriting) lay open beside them. A new line had written itself while he slept:

Choose not what you were.

Choose what you will become when fused with all that you are.

Bulleh smiled inwardly.

He reached—mentally—and touched the Mystic sigil first.

It flared violet-gold.

[Class Acquired: Mystic (Primary – Lv.1)]

Root node set.

Perks applied as listed.

All future spiritual / mana-based classes will enjoy +10% synergy when fused with Mystic root.

Satisfaction settled in his core like deep root taking hold.

But he did not stop.

He touched Scholar next.

[Secondary Class Acquired: Scholar (Lv.1)]

EXP dilution active (now 2 classes: 50% each)

Perks applied.

Fusion preview unlocked: Mystic + Scholar = Mystic Scholar (requirements met at Lv.5 each or with catalyst)

The dilution barely registered—his multiplier laughed at it.

Finally, he reached for Wanderer.

[Warning: Triple-class root structure attempted]

Dilution will increase to 33% per class.

Cognitive & mana strain risk: Low (mitigated by high Wisdom & 1000× growth).

Proceed? Y/N

Y.

[Class Acquired: Wanderer (Lv.1)]

EXP dilution now 33% across three root classes.

Perks applied.

Fusion preview:

• Mystic + Wanderer = Sufi Wanderer (spiritual nomad path)

• Scholar + Wanderer = Lorekeeper Voyager

• All three → Enlightened Pilgrim (high synergy – projected at Lv.10+)

A soft, triumphant chime echoed through his mind.

[Milestone: Triple Root Class Structure]

Achievement: Blank Slate Architect

Reward:

→ Fusion Catalyst Token (Common) ×1 – allows one free fusion below Lv.10 without level requirement

→ +100 System Points

→ Hidden title fragment: "One Who Chooses All Paths"

Current System Points: 122

He lay there, tiny body still, while his soul thrummed with possibility.

Three roots.

Not one path, but a braided river.

In his previous life he had refused to be boxed—neither Sunni nor Shia, neither court poet nor ascetic, only a lover of the Divine beyond labels.

Here, the System had given him permission to do the same with power itself.

He tested the waters.

Mentally activated the Fusion Catalyst Token.

A small, warm stone appeared in his inventory—smooth as the river pebble, but veined with silver light.

He focused on the three classes.

Fuse: Mystic + Scholar + Wanderer

[High-synergy triple fusion detected]

Name generation: Enlightened Pilgrim (Lv.1)

Perks (consolidated):

→ +30% mana regeneration while traveling or in nature

→ +25% learning speed & knowledge retention

→ Intuitive Insight + Danger Sense fusion → Pilgrim's Intuition (15% chance to foresee beneficial paths / avoid harm)

→ Cultural Adaptability + Aura Sense synergy → Heart's Sight (read emotional & spiritual intent at range)

→ EXP dilution removed (fusion consolidates into single class)

The three root sigils merged into one: a sandal print cradling an open book beneath a crescent flame.

Beautiful.

He accepted.

[Class Acquired: Enlightened Pilgrim (Lv.1 – Primary)]

All prior class perks retained & enhanced.

Level progress carried over (effective starting level adjusted to 12).

New growth path unlocked: Pilgrimage Quests (dynamic chain missions tied to travel, teaching, seeking)

A wave of energy washed through him—gentle, not overwhelming. His small body glowed faintly for a heartbeat, visible only to himself, then dimmed.

Mira stirred in her sleep, murmuring his name.

Bulleh turned his head toward her.

He hummed—soft, private, a new melody born tonight.

All… paths… lead… home…

The Enlightened Pilgrim smiled inside his infant skin.

The blank slate was no longer blank.

It was written in three inks at once—and the poem was only beginning.
