Chapter 236 - Chapter 236: Back to the Village!

At the edge of the cliff, the rustling of the wind through the forest and the murmuring of the stream intertwined, yet they could not suppress the undercurrents and determination surging between the two youths.

Sasuke did not seem surprised by Naruto's prompt agreement.

He needed this unhesitating trust from Naruto; it was the most critical link.

The heart in Naruto's chest was still beating wildly, driven by the intertwined thoughts of "standing side-by-side with Sasuke," "changing the world," and "bringing Sasuke back," his blue eyes flashing with a burning intensity.

He asked impatiently: "Then Sasuke, what exactly do we need to do? What is our first step?"

...

While they were talking outside, Naruto's inner world was exceptionally quiet.

Uzumaki Kushina and Minato Namikaze did not rush to voice their objections; they could see it now.

Naruto's obsession with "bonds," especially his obsession with the unique existence that was Uchiha Sasuke, had long since transcended ordinary friendship, becoming almost a form of faith.

When he set his mind on something, especially when it involved Sasuke, any direct opposition would only be counterproductive, perhaps even pushing him further away.

All they could do was suppress their worries, observe with greater vigilance, and prepare to offer reminders and support at critical moments, rather than becoming a hindrance to his decisions at this time.

Inside the sealing space, the Nine-Tailed lay prone, its eyes half-open and half-closed.

It had witnessed Naruto's entire journey from infancy to the present; that shadow-like loneliness and those struggles to gain recognition that always remained out of reach—it knew them all too well.

Uchiha Sasuke, that equally awkward and lonely brat, was indeed the only "peer" this idiot Nine-Tails Jinchuriki had truly cared about for a very long time, someone who could be considered his "equal."

(Hmph, troublesome brats.)

The Nine-Tailed scoffed in its consciousness, but offered no further reaction.

It couldn't be bothered to delve into human entanglements; it merely perked up a little, preparing to see what kind of chaos these two brats, entangled by fate, could stir up.

On the cliff, Sasuke met Naruto's eager gaze, and laid out his plan in a clear, calm voice.

"Come back to Konoha with me, now."

"Eh? Now? Just go back like this?" Naruto was stunned for a moment. "What about the Anbu and Hiruzen..."

"That is exactly the point—we go back right in front of them." Sasuke interrupted him, his tone decisive.

"But not as captured Rogue Ninja, nor as exiles begging to return. We will appear before them as reformers."

He lifted his chin slightly, his gaze sharp as a blade.

"The high-ranking officials of Konoha, including those Advisors, are accustomed to manipulating things from behind the scenes, using so-called 'the big picture' and'stability' to shackle true power and development. They fear things that go beyond their control and advocate for compromise and checks and balances. So, we will show them something... something that goes beyond their control."

"You mean..." Naruto seemed to understand a little, but he wasn't quite sure.

"Displaying power, Naruto." Sasuke looked him straight in the eye.

"Not to destroy, but to deter. Let them see with their own eyes that the power you and I now possess has already surpassed their understanding. Let them realize that trying to use old rules and methods to restrain or oppose us is futile and foolish."

"Without harming a single soldier or damaging a single brick." Sasuke's voice was low and persuasive.

"Simply using pure power to force them to sit down and rethink who should lead Konoha's future and where it should head. When they realize that the cost of maintaining the old order might be turmoil they cannot bear, and that accepting new possibilities could instead bring stronger protection, the transfer of control will happen naturally."

Naruto felt his heart swell with excitement, but he was still a bit hesitant.

"Is this... really going to work? Without fighting? Without conflict?" Deep down, Naruto still resisted unnecessary bloodshed.

"If we can achieve our goal just by displaying power, why choose a more troublesome method?" Sasuke retorted.

"Our goal is to change Konoha, to control it, and then use it as a starting point to change the Ninja World, not to destroy it. Killing only creates new hatred and resistance. But if they don't know what's good for them..."

A cold glint flashed in his eyes.

"Then there is no need for mercy. However, I believe that in the face of an absolute disparity in power, wise men will make the right choice."

He looked at Naruto, his tone softening slightly.

"Besides, aren't you there, Naruto? I am not alone. When we demonstrate power sufficient to protect Konoha, and even make it stronger, only then will your ideals truly be heard by others."

This remark cleverly hit the right spot for Naruto.

If he and Sasuke were strong enough—strong enough to protect everyone, strong enough to ensure Konoha was no longer threatened—then wouldn't the path of "mutual understanding" he had always believed in have a solid foundation to be realized? Sasuke was paving the way and setting the stage.

"I understand!" The hesitation in Naruto's eyes vanished, replaced once again by a look of determination and eagerness.

"We will let them see that we have the ability and the will to lead Konoha toward a better future! Use power to win the right to speak, and then use that right to achieve peace!"

"You can understand it that way." Sasuke nodded slightly. "Then let's go, straight to the plaza in front of the Hokage Building. Presumably, in the time we've been gone, those who need to be there will have already arrived."

He didn't give Naruto any more time to hesitate; he turned around and started walking first toward the center of Konoha. His black silhouette, under the dappled sunlight, appeared tall and aloof, yet carried an air of unstoppable forward momentum.

Naruto felt that Sasuke had changed a lot. Sasuke had never been this talkative before, and his eyes used to be filled with hatred, but now Sasuke seemed to have found his purpose.

Naruto took a deep breath, suppressing the last trace of turmoil in his heart, and hurried to catch up, walking side-by-side with Sasuke.

The sunlight stretched their shadows long, casting them onto the forest path leading to the Village.

This time, they were not returning wanderers, nor were they captured Rogue Ninja.

They were twin stars wielding the scepter of power, intending to challenge the old order and embarking on a path of invisible change.

In the inner world, Minato Namikaze and Uzumaki Kushina watched all of this in silence.

They knew that a storm was about to be unleashed in the center of Konoha, and their son was right in the eye of that storm.

"We can only trust him, Minato Namikaze." Uzumaki Kushina's voice carried worry, but also a hint of a mother's pride; her child was about to do something significant.

"Our son has grown up; he has his own judgment and choices."

"Hmm." Minato Namikaze's voice was steady. "Let's prepare ourselves mentally; this world is, after all, a world for the young." His gaze became profound.

...

In Konoha, at the plaza in front of the Hokage Building, the Anbu who had received the emergency alert had already set up layers of defense, and the Jonin who had arrived upon hearing the news gathered around with grave expressions.

Hiruzen Sarutobi stood on the steps in front of the building, his face ashen as he watched two figures slowly approaching from the distance.

He had already prepared for the fact that Uchiha Sasuke, possessing the Mangekyo, had taken away the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki.

This reminded him of that night of the Nine-Tailed incident; he had already prepared to mobilize all available active forces to bring Naruto back.

But now, Naruto and Sasuke had walked back on their own; he felt that things were not simple.

Sunlight spilled onto the plaza, yet it could not dispel the suffocating, tense atmosphere that had spread throughout.

Sasuke and Naruto, just like that, walked step-by-step into the center of the plaza under the gaze of countless eyes filled with suspicion, vigilance, and anger.
