Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

General Pov

It's been 4 months since Lucy took a maternity leave, which at this point in time was still just considered a temporary disabled person's unpaid leave for pregnant woman. And her maternity leave was over.

Hey, honey!! My mother said she'll be here in about 10 to 30 minutes to help babysit Lucian. Spoke Lucy as she was hurriedly preparing her long blond hair into a ponytail to go to work. This wasn't the modern ponytail where the hair is all pushed back and tied into a tight ponytail.

This ponytail was one of the many 80s version where the hair was defined by extreme, higher placement and loosely tied which was harder to do because she couldn't just pull the hair and tie it.

Alright, sure but are you sure this is a good idea? Your mother isn't exactly the one who raised you, "like was there for you when you grew up" so what does she know? …you know. Damian replied as he slightly removed the covers on the bed, poking his head.

Damian!! Lucy exclaimed as she looked at her boyfriend. What!? You know the truth better than me why I don't want her alone near the kid. Is she coming with your father at the very least?

You have a point but try not to be so blunt about it, Lucy sighed as she put stuff in her bag, ready to leave.

My father has something to do today so he's not coming with my mother.

I'm gonna take the baby to the car honey, so I need you to be ready once I'm done. I can't have you driving me wearing nothing but boxers." Spoke lucy" as she looked the now out of bed Damian flexing his muscles.

Rather an impressive build for a nerd, she threw an emotional jab at him as she ran out of the room with heels.

Insulting but I eat those for breakfast.! Damian shouted as he smiled and hurriedly got dressed.

Damian was a community professor at Borough of Manhattan community college, well sort of as he was just 20 years old and hadn't finished his master's degree, just 2 years left. Which only allowed him to be a peer tutor but that also changed when he was noticed by his professors for his mastered knowledge which boosted him to a teaching assistant and gave a raise to his earnings too.

And he didn't teach only introductory economics, engineering and Basic programming. He also self-taught coding to have a wider range of development in the future. All of this added together gave him the confidence to be able to raise his kid comfortably.

Even if he had all these things to do or study, it didn't mean he had to be in collage every hour or every day. This leads him to be the one with the flexible job among the two as he would start babysitting from now on when he had days off or mornings off.

The only problem he has about this is that Lucy can't drive a lick.

After driving lucy off to work, Damian drove home to find his doors fully open. He left the baby in the car and locked it as he went inside to find it was his mother-in-law already in the house.

"Morning mother", Spoke Damian with a sigh.... Walking back to get Lucian from the car.

Debra was a blond haired woman with a smoking hot figure, 5'7 tall and a face young for a mother of a 24-year-old.

She looked like a woman in her mid-30s but her actual age is 42 years old, meaning she gave birth to Lucy at the age of 18 by her husband who was 24 at that time.

Ohh hey honey!! Debra yelled with open arms as she paced to hug her son in law, who was holding Lucian's baby seat.

They hugged for a few seconds and let go as Debra spoke again, holding his forearm… You are still looking so fine even in those dorky glasses.

With that offhand remark.

she came to Lucian who just got out of his baby seat, planning to slide to his father's study to read…

The woman started to make funny noises and faces to make Lucian laugh which to his annoyance actually worked, with the woman literally tickling him to get his reaction.

He looks smart, he better not end up like you. Debra remarked after a long while continuing to tickle Lucian as she spoke "who was at this moment a light shade of purple", because he couldn't regulate his breathing as good as he liked…

Can you please not do that for so long, his breathing style haven't developed enough for that to not be a severe problem with one wrong move. Damian warned her as he spoke, rubbing his forehead walking to take the baby from her.

Okay, okay… Jesus don't be so stuck up on the small stuff.

Before I forget "where is the dishwasher"? … I saw you had dishes laying about in the kitchen, so I wanted to help this dump to look presentable.

Small stuff huh, Damian's exasperation nearly reached a zenith as he thought over the words. Mother-in-law or not his kid is his kid and his safety is paramount. Hearing her say that so offhandedly made his distrust of the woman's baby caring expertise run deeper.

We only have one dishwasher, and I just drove it off to work but hey… now that you're here everything will be okay right mommy? Damian answered. Rude? Yes… Affective, absolutely. Does he regret it?

Absolutely but hey talking to his unreliable mother-in-law always tended to Urk him the wrong way, thought Damian as a strained smile worked itself on his face, his eyebrows and lips twitching indecently.

Maybe dear mother in law might be of some use if I sweet talk her into buying us a Dishwasher, Damian thought… the idea appealing the more he thought about it.

Huff, a sniffling sound rang out. "I raise you and this is how you speak to your cute mother" Debra spoke with her head held low… shoulders shaking and hands on her covering her face.

Damian didn't even panic as he sighed loudly…. stop acting pitiful, the day you'd cry for real would be the day narcotics, beer, wine and everything that gives euphoria or dopamine don't exist on planet earth or you're too broke to buy them, be happy to have a rich husband.

So just stop, I bet you're even drunk right now because no way in hell nor heaven do I see you washing dishes. He scoffed.

Jesus Damian has anybody told you to tone it down a bit. Debra spoke with a chuckle. you are getting increasingly unhinged and I like it.

She really did like this boy the more they interacted; it's like talking with a friend she never had. How did you catch my daughter's fancy with a tongue like that, she continued… the words not a question but a statement.

"Damian scoffed", I'm only like this because of your disturbing tendencies. You made me like this…. Just be happy I'm still calling you mother. "Despite saying all of that" Damian, had to admit… he loved his relationship with his mother in law, but he'll never let her know.

I am going to take a shower, so can you just bring Lucian to the study room, he likes to look at the books, and don't show him picture books... he hates those.

Our Mc had shining eyes as he looked at his father.... Fearless wouldn't cover it.

Although his father's weird chemistry with his grandmother was weird and oddly interesting, he really needed to start his act by constantly going to his father's study room and show his intense fascination with books and anything that shows he's smart.

And besides there is nothing fun to do anyway, it is the year 1980…. No amazing tv shows, no smartphones, wi-fi does exist though as his father used his IDM pc holding him till he sleeps sometime in his study room.

But he couldn't have access any of those things, He is still just 4 months old.

Hey , where are you going young fella, said Debra as she picked up the now sliding Lucian who was about to leave the kitchen with hopes the study room door would be open…

Your father says you like books huh, hearing this Lucian had no choice but to cheer happily to charm this woman by making baby noises.

So very cute, Debra said as she looked at Lucian's happy face... throwing slyghtly above the air and catching him.

What's so interesting about those books. Debra spoke again, now with a frown. Lucian frowned at her words, his round face and big eyes showing a cute and endearing face. This woman ought to be playing him, he thought.

Alright, don't be mad at granny… wait for me to put these dishes back and I'll go with you. With that "she put the dishes into the sink.

"Damian was right" what was I thinking trying manual labour. Debra mused out loud looking at the dishes with disgust.

4 months ago, after Lucian's departure by the white light that showed a glimpse of a long unending white realm. From the light, a graceful red haired woman entered the room from the blinding white light. Her eyes as fiery as Phoenixes.

You told him too much. The woman spoke as the light around her stopped shining immediately after entering the building.

And thus the consequences of thy deeds shall be thine alone to bear. The One Above All spoke with a smile as he looked at the young woman who just sat down in front of him.

"pray tell, by what delight hast thou seen fit to bless me by thy arrival?" asked the One Above All with a teasingly knowing smile.
