Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Level 2 Mall

At this moment, the unlucky crocodile was being held by the mouth by Zhang Yang, completely unable to communicate with its companions.

Otherwise, it would definitely have狠狠 cursed out those brain-dead teammates.

What kind of aiming is this? Can't you at least aim properly before you shoot?

Zhang Yang dragged the crocodile all the way back to the shore. To be honest, it was pretty exhausting. He did have a thousand jin of strength, but this crocodile wasn't light either.

This four-meter-long beast weighed a full 600 jin.

And Zhang Yang still had to lift this thing while fighting — you can imagine how difficult it was.

Fortunately, he successfully dragged the crocodile onto the bank. The poor thing had been smashed quite badly, bleeding from multiple places, and many bones were probably already broken.

Even its struggling strength had become much weaker.

Zhang Yang silently gave a thumbs-up to the crocodile's little buddies in his heart.

That attack power — really impressive.

"To reduce your suffering, this Young Master Yang has decided to send you on your way."

Once on land, Zhang Yang could run much faster, while the crocodile's speed became painfully slow. After pulling some distance from the crocodile pack, Zhang Yang flipped the crocodile over and pinned it to the ground.

He put it in that utterly humiliating position — belly up, four legs in the air.

But Zhang Yang didn't do anything shameful. He released the crocodile's jaws, then bit straight into its throat, tearing out a huge hole.

After the bite, he ignored the creature. With its throat torn open, it wouldn't live much longer.

In the end, this unfortunate crocodile was finally set free. Gurgling sounds came from its mouth — that was its way of expressing rage, and also its farewell to the world. It was about to die.

Before the crocodile pack could reach Zhang Yang, this pitiful one had already kicked the bucket.

"Ding! Over-level kill of a crocodile. Evolution points +500. Tough Skin Fragment (Intermediate) +1."

Oh?

A surprise bonus?

The evolution points alone were enough to satisfy Zhang Yang. One crocodile = 500 evolution points. That was already very good.

At this rate, killing just one more would let him unlock the Level 2 Mall.

And there were even talent fragments — excellent.

Zhang Yang was very pleased.

Unfortunately, the crocodiles were far from pleased.

They charged at him with wide-open jaws, looking extremely menacing.

Zhang Yang felt a tiny bit of panic. He hadn't expected that even on land these crocodiles would still be so ferocious.

They were much harder to deal with than wild boars.

If the crocodiles knew Zhang Yang was comparing them to wild boars, they would probably become even more furious.

Who exactly are you dissing here?

Sure, we may not be covered head to toe in weapons, but we're still a hundred times stronger than those brainless charging pigs, okay?

Their jaws, tails, and even their big claws were all weapons. In close combat, they were leagues above wild boars.

Zhang Yang dared to charge alone into a pack of wild boars, but he absolutely didn't dare charge into a pack of crocodiles.

If they got him from both ends — one bite at the head, one at the tail — he'd really be torn in half.

"I'll deal with you lot sooner or later."

Zhang Yang muttered under his breath, then locked onto another unlucky target and launched an assault.

This time he didn't hold back on skills — he used Reverse Heaven Strike.

With razor-sharp teeth combined with several times the normal bite force, this one bite actually smashed half of the unlucky crocodile's head to pieces.

Half its skull — gone in one bite.

The sight was brutal.

Even Zhang Yang himself shivered a little. After biting, he immediately turned and ran.

When he went all out, he scared even himself.

"Ding! Over-level kill of a crocodile. Evolution points +500. Tough Skin Fragment (Intermediate) +1."

Evolution points secured, fragment secured. Zhang Yang immediately retreated.

Such a ferocious attack could only be used once a day. If the bite force hadn't been multiplied, it definitely wouldn't have produced this kind of effect.

"System, my evolution points have reached 20,000. Can the mall be upgraded now?"

"Ding! Host evolution points have reached 20,000. System Mall upgrading."

"Ding! System Mall upgrade successful. Current level: 2. Please continue working hard, host. Next upgrade requires 50,000 evolution points."

The two consecutive "ding" sounds were music to Zhang Yang's ears.

Ignoring the roaring crocodiles chasing behind him, he vanished in a flash.

He left the crocodile pack on the riverbank roaring and cursing in fury.

After finding a safe spot, Zhang Yang couldn't wait any longer and immediately opened the system mall to see what new items had appeared.

"Just two things?"

The Level 2 Mall was only one level higher than the Level 1 Mall. Level 1 had three items for sale; Level 2 now had five.

The new additions were: Primary Rage Potion and Primary Antidote.

Primary Rage Potion: After consumption, all attributes increase by 30% for three minutes. After the effect ends, enter a weakened state for 10 minutes.

Primary Antidote: Can be applied externally or taken internally to remove low-level toxins and the damage they cause to the body.

"Unfortunately… pretty useless."

Zhang Yang's face darkened.

He felt completely cheated.

What's this?

I had such high expectations for the Level 2 Mall, and you just add two potions — and both of them are trash?

"Fine… they'll come in handy eventually anyway. Actually, I should still thank the mall. If I had mindlessly dumped all my points into strength and agility, I probably wouldn't be getting any evolution points at all from killing crocodiles right now."

Zhang Yang had more or less figured out how the system calculated things.

When killing other creatures, the rewards were based on the attribute comparison between the two sides.

Similar attributes = normal kill.

When the opponent's attributes greatly exceed yours = over-level kill.

Conversely, if you far exceed the opponent, you get nothing.

Of course, it also depended on the species involved, but the exact formula was unknown. One thing was clear: the weaker the target, the easier it was to earn evolution points.

With this understanding, Zhang Yang no longer casually used evolution points to raise his attributes. Instead, he started paying more attention to powerful creatures.

Creatures like jungle wolves had an attribute cap of 20 across the board. The reason Zhang Yang could raise his attributes to 30 was because he had fused with tiger bone, increasing his body's potential.

Right now, Zhang Yang wasn't in a hurry to raise attributes. What he needed to consider was how to increase his evolution point storage cap.

Just like attributes had an upper limit, evolution points also had a storage cap. Any points earned beyond that cap would be wasted if not spent.

Unfortunately, truly powerful creatures were hard to find — at least in the border regions of the Mortal Beast Continent.

Fortunately, Zhang Yang still had other things to do. While he searched for stronger prey, leopards and crocodiles suffered.

Leopards were fine — they only got unlucky when they ran into him.

But crocodiles weren't so fortunate. Zhang Yang frequently camped out and hunted them. Even while the crocodiles were hunting other prey, they had to stay constantly wary of this one particular predator.

If they weren't careful even once, they'd be dragged onto the riverbank by Zhang Yang and bled out.
