Chapter 2 - Time Skip

Chapter 2: Time Skip

Three months have passed since I quit and I have just spent most of my time on another station. I got a basic job working on AC units that were decades newer than my last job and not nearly as run down.

I get the occasional call from my father letting me know about the latest gossip. Turns out the guy who stole from me was caught hitting the windows on the station with a hammer because he was bored.

Obviously he got fired.

My other coworker sold drugs to one of the new security girls because she was out of uniform so he was out of the job too.

Leaving one guy who retires in a few days and another guy who says he's leaving in a month as soon as he finds a new job.

What he doesn't realize is that since he's morbidly obese he's not allowed to leave the station on a shuttle lest it goes up in flames.

Leaving the new guy as the only option left, and since he knows nothing about the station that isn't going to happen.

"I still can't believe Ramon was capable of such a thing. I recommend you to him because he needed help and you knew the station as well as he did. His stubbornness screwed everybody over."

I just shrugged before getting on the computer. I wasn't over it, heck I was still pissed, but hobbies helped clear my mind.

"Hey, tell mom I won't be able to talk too much. Me and my guild are going to take over the server and that's about a three day war."

Dad just scoffed, despite the fact that gaming has been around for over three hundred years now he still didn't support it.

It was the workaholic in him.

Of course I partially agreed with him but the workaholic in me sees it differently than he does.

"I don't play shoot and loot games dad. This is basically a war simulator. As the guild leader it's my responsibility to help put over sixty people on the map by streaming our fights. This in turn would help them generate a proper income that could get them out of poverty. Some of my guild mates can't even work a job. The least I can do is help elevate them."

That and a portion of their streaming income goes to me. After all, my guild is incredibly famous.

Anyone who joins my team has a sure fire way of becoming so strong so quickly that once they sell their account they'll be even richer.

"As long as you're learning something. How have your classes been going?"

I just sighed because I knew he still didn't get it.

...…

After talking with his father for a while, Thomas King was ready to declare himself king of the server.

A few energy drinks, a couple packs of noodles and a bustling open chat later and it was time to play.

"Alright, let's get this show on the road."

Everyone in chat cheered.

Of course I had a second screen on my computer to tell me who was and was not talking or cheering. I had to worry about spies and traitors wiggling their way in after all anyone that didn't participate was immediately flagged as a potential threat.

The open server war only happens once a year and if we take this server we will have the ability to war with other servers.

"Alright ladies, my spies tell me that the Blackhold guild wants the border wall and they're willing to ally with our greatest competitor for the beacon, the Jackdaw guild to get it. What they don't know is that Blackhold is not only secretly our ally but we already gave them permission to take it.

Our current priority must be the beacon!"

My right hand men and women just chuckled, planning to go along with my act while the pawns acted and the enemy spies brought back false information to the enemy.

Blackhold wasn't our ally. They were paid handsomely by Jackdaw to take the wall, and I'm far too greedy to let some pricks take what's mine. So I hired mercenaries from other servers to wipe out the remainder of Blackhold once Jackdaw got wind of the situation!

Who is the leading mercenary you ask? It's me of course!

With over six accounts much older than this one it was hard to convince a few old friends to help out and play merc in my guild war. Of course I didn't trust them enough to tell them I would lead the charge.

I just needed to make sure they didn't start any trouble.

After setting everything up I led the charge to the final border wall as soon as the server timer was up and began laying siege before the enemy got there.

...…..

After three days without sleep the guild had finally done it.

"We had three guild mates betray us, two mercs didn't show up and Blackhold had somehow managed to worm their way back into Jackdaw's good graces. Yet… we still won."

So what is the first thing I did?

I typed my bank information on all enemy group chats I could wiggle my way into over the past through months with one message, [Pay up and you can stay or change to a new server.]

Of course most people didn't want to change to a new server. Creating a new account and making it past power level ten million was excruciatingly slow, unless of course you're a pay to win player.

Five minutes later my bank account had gone up by a whopping ten grand.

Over three hundred players wanted to join my kingdom!

"Hahahaha! Eat shit Blackhold!" I laughed my ass off in his guild chat before going back to mine.

Just as I was about to let everyone know I was done for the night my computer started to crash.

{ERROR ERROR}

"What the?" I started smacking on the screen hoping that would fix it until a new notification rang up.

{Congratulations! You have proven incredible foresight and the ability to lead. You have been chosen to become the King Progenitor!}

"What? Is this some kind of update? I've never heard of such a thing…"

I looked at the screen fizzle out and sent a screenshot to my guildmates asking them if they had ever seen this notification before but they just replied back in confusion.

[Dragonlover69: Bro there's nothing there? Just the map.]

[Candygirl: LOL the boss must be exhausted. I heard he has been on for three straight days? Get some sleep.]

[Candyisadude: What he said. Don't you need to go to work tomorrow?]

I looked at the screen for a second in confusion. Noting that the notification was no longer there anymore.

[Capitán: Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm heading off to bed.]

I said that but for some reason I didn't feel as exhausted as I did five minutes ago.

...

After a few minutes in bed and trying to get some sleep I decided to turn on the tv hoping the background noise would help me sleep.

"Hmm, maybe the news would help?"

I switched on the tv remote and just began listening to the news with my eyes closed. Yet the more I listened the more agitated I became.

[Breaking news: Mars has sent drone strikes on Titan claiming the first sign of interplanetary war. Will the colonies in the Halcyon System take advantage of Earth's occupation to declare independence once again? Stay tuned for more.]

Next channel.

[This just in, Earth directorate has discovered… A super serum!-]

[I welcome our special guest, the Prime minister of Titan. How do you feel about the situation on Titan Prime Mini-]

Minutes turned into hours until Thomas finally spoke up with perhaps a bit too much conviction and ambition in his tone.

"Someone really has to do something about this…"
