Chapter 1 - chapter 1

The wind whispered along the edge of the cliff, soft and endless, as though it carried secrets from a life long forgotten. Below, the valley stretched wide and golden, its rivers glinting like threads of silver beneath the fading light. The trees swayed in quiet rhythm, their leaves murmuring to one another as the world exhaled into dusk.

She stood at the brink, unmoving, her gaze lost in the distance as if she were searching for something she could not name. A strange ache settled in her chest—gentle, distant, and deeply familiar.

The sky burned with the last colors of day, brushing the horizon in hues of amber and rose, and though she had never seen this place before, it felt as though she had been here once… long ago.

The breeze tugged at her hair and brushed against her skin, carrying with it a quiet sense of longing. She could not remember what she had lost, only that something was missing—and that this vast, beautiful world somehow belonged to it.

For a moment, she simply stood there, suspended between what was and what might have been, watching a world that felt both entirely new… and impossibly dear.

As she was lost in her thoughts, footsteps so light that they could be barely heard approached her then a gruff voice called out in irritation.

"Would you hurry up Lyraen,I would rather be in the headquarters by dusk".

I snapped out of my thoughts instantly. I wasn't usually like this, spacing out so often but recently I have had this uneasy feeling and can't even tell why.

But there is no use dwelling on it, especially when out in mission. Sighing I turned to Cobra and voiced out my apologies.

"Sorry Cobra I was lost iny thoughts won't happen again though," I reassured.

He just hummed out his response.

Well my partner has always been a guy that's really rought on the edges and for the first few years I couldn't even tell if he had a soft spot, miraculously he did and now he is the closest to I would consider to a friend on this hell hole.

Closest, because I am not sure if he would betray me if I let him in ony plans. Even now I am not sure if he had secret mission this time to spy on me considering how easy the mission was.

Anyways back to the headquarters we went, and it's just like how a person would imagine a dark guild. Dark, scary ,inhabitable - deviod of life, perhaps the only thing grand about it is the castle like architecture. Yet the irony was that there were more than hundreds of people in this place. That just goes to show how this place feeds on people's life both literally and figuratively.

"It's your turn to hand over the mission report to master," Cobra speaks up and I couldn't help the dread that washed over me. It's no secret that everyone hated master it's just that you had to be smart about when to show it.

Some were promoted for showing intense killing intent towards the master yet some were also eliminated for entertaining the idea of even harming the master. What could I say, it felt like guy was bipolar but who knows everyone is a little crazy somewhere around here.

Now considering that it was true that Cobra did hand in the last report, it was indeed my turn. So Cobra and I parted ways, me towards the master and him to God knows where.

I took a couple of twists and turns, path that if someone ineligible was to take would take them right to the Sauriels cage. One of the horrifying creatures one the mages here decided to combine thinking it would be a new class of hybrid but it just ended creating a creature that couldn't even handle what is had become. They should have put it out of it's misery but master decided that it would be a good pet to have around , his words not when.

I finally arrived master's floor and right away anyone can tell that this floor houses a powerful mage, the miasma he was releasing felt overwhelming.

Before I could even knock the door to his office flung open and a powerful yet sinister voice called from within
