Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Attack on Ifesiu Island

Iffish Island, underground command post.

"No, are you kidding me?"

Shun looked at the people still sitting there, and the equipment and numbers displayed on the screen, his mind filled with curses.

The expression on his face changed.

The government officials sitting on both sides of the conference table also looked uncomfortable when they saw Shun.

"I just don't understand, why do we have to let a spy lead us? Are we supposed to let him lead us to surrender?"

A man with a monocle said uncomfortably, but as soon as he spoke, many people's eyes lit up, "surrender" what a beautiful word.

Some even looked towards Shun.

Shun met his gaze, "If I could surrender, would I be sitting here with you bunch of losers!!!"

"Everyone, wake up!"

"You don't even have the qualifications to surrender, you're all going to be suffocated by poison gas, frozen to death by cold air, and then thrown to Earth as garbage!"

"Stop having any illusions!"

"If you still want to live, obey my orders. We will snatch a path to survival from desperation. If you don't listen…"

Shun looked towards the door and slammed the table.

A group of soldiers in light brown Federal Army uniforms ran in quickly, their military boots clanking on the ground.

Leading the team was Hughes Wen, another Level 5 agent who interrogated Shun yesterday. He was holding a mobile rifle.

His expression was murderous.

"I'll send you on your way now, and then when Iffish Island falls to Earth, I'll meet you in hell!"

Shun had no intention of joking. Now that disaster was imminent, if there was no substantial management.

Then there would truly be no hope at all.

He and Marlock had made a plan, the first step of which was to seize control of Iffish Island, because it was already in chaos.

Those who had the ability rushed to the docking pier, trying to leave here by force in private spacecraft.

After all, staying here was just waiting for death.

But going out to die was even faster, and thanks to these cowardly guys, the docking pier was blocked.

Especially the ships that flew out, they collided with the Principality of Zeon's fleet, directly facing the main space warships.

Unarmed civilian transport ships.

They were smashed to pieces like paper targets.

This also bought Shun and his team some time. Shun initially wanted to block the "bottleneck" docking pier.

Mainly to prevent the main warships from entering.

The people sitting in the command room now were the last resistance force of Iffish Island. At this point, who was the leader was completely irrelevant.

Shun looked down at the data on the screen.

His heart was completely cold.

First of all, Iffish Island had no space fleet, not even armed gunboats, so don't expect to go out and fight.

The armed forces available for this battle were also pitifully small.

Because there were previously Earth Federation Forces stationed there, the Side-2 Space Colony area did not have many regular soldiers.

There was only a small part of the "auxiliary army" that maintained order.

That is, the Hart soldiers of the Hart Colonial Government. These "auxiliary soldiers" are now distributing weapons to citizens on the streets.

Even so, the paper data was only 30,000.

It sounds like a lot, but what were they facing?

It was an 18-meter-tall Zaku, holding machine guns with a caliber starting at 120mm, tank gun level, and capable of high-speed continuous firing.

In this situation, how could they defend it?

Moreover, in the current situation, it is uncertain whether there are even ten thousand usable soldiers; they can only be temporarily organized.

Compared to ordinary soldiers, Shun's hope was more on heavy firepower; at the very least, they should have some other equipment.

For example, the initial model of the Guncannon from the very beginning. This thing was produced at the same time as the Zaku.

It was just completely outclassed by the Zaku's performance.

Because the design itself had problems, this series of Guncannons were all fire support types, in essence, humanoid tanks.

It just replaced the tracks on the previous generation Guntank with legs.

The Zaku, on the other hand, was a groundbreaking mobile suit.

They were completely different.

Only the later first generationGundam successfully overtook it.

But now, Shun lacked this kind of heavy firepower. Without the suppression of these heavy firepowers, let alone Zakus.

Even if a Cruiser rushed in, they would be finished.

However, there wasn't a single Guncannon.

They didn't even have heavy artillery, which made Shun grit his teeth. The Earth Federation, in order to restrict Space Colonys.

Was not allowed to be independent in military matters.

Even the current Principality of Zeon, during the previous Republic of Zeon period, was subjected to an economic blockade by the Earth Federation.

"You're not going to tell me that our most powerful weapon now is a 45mm shoulder-fired rocket launcher, are you?"

Shun looked up at those people, hoping for a rebuttal.

The burly man sitting on the right, once again slammed the table, "We also have 6.72mm caliber mobile rifles!"

"You're quite proud, aren't you…"

Shun was speechless, but the bad news wouldn't stop. Marlock, who was outside, had already run in.

"No, Mr. Om from the energy management company was killed by shelling while taking a shuttle from the dock."

"Then go find engineers, figure out a way to block the air ducts, and at the same time convert the core energy of Iffish Island. This is our only chance!"

"If Zeon forces us, we will fight to the death with him. I will create time for you!"

Shun leaned his hands on the table, looking at the others, and said in a serious voice: "Everyone present, I don't know you, so I won't introduce you one by one. Anyway, we are all going to die."

"This is the only chance. I need soldiers, I need equipment, I need all kinds of weapons, I need to stop Zeon's soldiers!"

"…"

The conference room fell silent.

A handsome middle-aged man in aristocratic attire, looking very gentlemanly, stood up from the right side.

"Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Mordecai His, Chairman of Heath Group."

"I know Mr. Shun's efforts, so our group's warehouse still has three Hein-class passenger ships, which we are willing to donate free of charge. For other needs, we will do our best."

"Excellent!"

Shun didn't care what level it was; it would definitely be useful now. "I also need powerful weapons, such as cannons, and Guntank would be even better. I also need a group of fearless soldiers!"

The burly man stood up and said, "Leave this to me. My name is Dogan Smith, a Lieutenant in the Hart government army. We also have some good lads in our army."

"Very good, but just some good lads are not enough. We need to fight guerrilla warfare with them at the docking pier."

"We must be like chewing gum, so that once they punch in, they can never pull out again. Only in this way can we ensure the safety of Iffish Island. Even sacrifices must be valuable sacrifices!"

An alarm sounded on the screen of the conference table.

Shun quickly switched the screen.

The "bottleneck" docking pier had been breached. Zeon troops' armored warships had entered, along with two green Zakus.

"Everyone, let's give it a try!"

After Shun finished speaking, he turned off the screen and walked out. Marlock quickly followed him and said, "You don't have to go to the front line."

"Is there anywhere else to hide?"

Shun retorted, and continued, "Take your special agent team, and somehow modify the core energy. We need to turn Iffish Island into a nuclear bomb that can be detonated at any time."

"What about you?" Marlock quickly asked.

"I'll see if I can get a Zaku."

Shun paused for a moment, "If we can get one, we'll have a thirty percent chance of survival."

Upon hearing this, Marlock stopped and saluted Shun's back, "Commander Shun, I wish you good luck in battle!"

Shun turned his head and said, "If you can get out alive, help me take Zoya with you. She's a good woman and shouldn't die here."

"Yes, sir!"

Marlock maintained his salute.

Shun walked out quickly, but the iron-faced agent Hughes Wen followed behind him, "Sir, I'll drive for you!"

"To the docking pier!" Shun ordered.

At the same time… docking pier.

The gunshots here were incessant, and the roar of rocket launchers was even more deafening, but even louder than these things.

It was the Principality of Zeon's tanks.

These tanks were very different from conventional tanks; their gun barrels were double-barreled, and their bodies were larger.

The wide tracks crushed the road.

The two-lane road was crushed, especially with the 108mm tank guns on the tanks firing alternately, pointing at a place.

It instantly turned into ruins.

Due to the severe blockage of the docking pier by escaping space vessels, even medium-sized Cruisers could not enter.

They could only rely on MS mobile suits for fire cover.

Then directly let the troop transport ships enter.

Each deployment involved two combat battalions, 1852 people, equipped with double-barreled tanks, armored vehicles, and some Guntanks.

This is also why the Principality of Zeon would rather use inhuman poison gas weapons and nuclear bomb offensives than take down Space Colonys one by one, because such an investment is simply too great.

If they were to be taken down one by one.

They would need at least a full year to take down Side-2, but using those destructive weapons.

It only takes an hour!

The rocket dragged its tail flame and hit the Guntank's chest armor, and with a boom, an explosion of flames rose.

"Yay!"

On the nearby building, the man holding the rocket launcher clenched his fist and shouted happily, but after the smoke from the explosion cleared.

The Guntank was almost completely unharmed.

The expression on the man's face instantly froze.

The Guntank's triangular tracks rumbled, and the Guntank, like a tank, already had part of a humanoid war weapon. The head's artillery cockpit allowed for a wider field of vision.

The original tank turret was replaced by a chest cockpit, and large-caliber heavy machine guns were added to both sides.

On its shoulders were two 120mm low-recoil cannons.

It was practically a mobile arsenal launcher.

These equipments were all original GTO Guntanks captured by the Principality of Zeon from the Earth Federation Forces garrison. Although they could not completely block Zaku's attacks, in this kind of landing battlefield.

It was simply overwhelming!

The Guntank quickly raised its right arm, and four large-caliber heavy machine guns instantly aimed at the man who had just fired the rocket.

"No…"

Before the man could speak in a panic, the Guntank's pilot had already sneered and pressed the firing button.

A storm of bullets, like heavy rain, instantly turned the man and the building he was hiding in into shattered ruins.

The Guntank's tracks rolled over here, continuing to sweep forward.
