Without a sound, the world blurred around me, and in the blink of an eye, I was back in my domain, the red-black marble, now cracked in my palm, a grey mist leaking out of it.
The mist fell from my palm in twisted waterfalls, the wisps of grey matter curling and dissipating before it hit the floor.
My pupils had contracted to a pinprick from the shock.
"Don't tell me... But Valea said... What was I even looking at, and how?!" The questions tumbled out of my lips before my lips could hold them back. I barely had time to register what I had seen, let alone make sense of it.
