Chapter 2 - The Heir of Sacrifice

After the marriage of Sudangshu and Sanchita, life was never easy for them. There is a saying—

"Where misfortune goes, even the ocean dries up."

Sometimes Sanchita felt that this proverb had been written especially for her.

She was Sudangshu's second wife. The story of his first broken marriage had not been told to her before their wedding. When she later learned the truth, it shook her deeply. In the eyes of society, she was always "the second one"—a comparison, a question, a whisper behind her back.

Her mother-in-law never truly accepted her. In small words and subtle gestures, she constantly reminded Sanchita that she was not the family's first choice.

Sudangshu tried to stand between them and keep the peace, but he could not always succeed. Yet there was one thing he never allowed to break—trust.

During this difficult time, Sanchita suddenly came face to face with her past—Surup. She learned that he lived in the same village and that he was now married too.

For a brief moment, old memories returned. But reality was clear.

Strangely enough, Sudangshu already knew everything.

One day he said calmly,

" The past cannot be erased. But it can be respected and kept beside us. If friendship brings you peace, I will never stop you."

Where the lives of three people could have been shattered by a storm, Sudangshu's decision instead made things smoother. Suspicion slowly turned into understanding. The broken bricks of relationships began to rebuild themselves.

Soon after, Sanchita became pregnant.

She gave birth to a baby girl and named her Akhira.

Holding her daughter close to her heart, Sanchita made a silent promise—

"I will never let my daughter go through the pain I have faced."

Akhira grew up lively, stubborn, and outspoken. But slowly Sanchita began to notice something unsettling—the girl seemed to be her reflection.

Her way of getting angry, the tone of her words—everything felt so similar.

And there was another thing that worried Sanchita even more.

Just like her mother, Akhira quietly hid her own dreams and desires inside her heart so that others around her could stay happy.

From the outside, she sometimes appeared a little harsh, even selfish.

But deep inside, she kept sacrificing her own wishes without telling anyone.

One day, Sanchita discovered that Akhira was about to give up the studies she truly loved—only for the sake of the family.

That day, Sanchita's heart trembled.

Was she about to witness the same mistake repeating itself?

That night, she sat beside her daughter and said softly,

"Sacrifice is not always noble. Protecting your dreams is also a responsibility."

Akhira remained silent. In her eyes there was a conflict—

the fear of becoming like her mother,

and the courage to become herself.

Would Akhira also sacrifice her dreams for everyone one day?

Or would she fulfill her own dreams—and in doing so, complete the unfinished dreams of her mother as well?

Could Sanchita teach her daughter in time that living for oneself is also a part of love?

Is it really true that wherever misfortune goes, even the ocean dries up?

Or can the courage of a new generation bring the tide back to the sea?

The story does not end here—

Because now, the decision belongs to Akhira.
