Kaiden stood where I had disappeared into the trees.
Something felt wrong.

Another elder spoke carefully.
"That power looked ancient."
Kaiden didn't like the sound of that.
Ancient power meant trouble.
Danger.
War.
He turned toward the forest.
"We bring her back."
One warrior asked quietly:
"Alive?"
Kaiden paused.
The bond pulsed in his chest again.
Painfully.
"Yes."
His voice dropped.
"Alive."
But deep down…
He had a terrible feeling.
