Chapter 1 - Live reporting on the pursuit of the culprit. I am the real culprit.

Early in the morning, Jinling City.

A black car slowly drove towards the Public Security Bureau, with several large characters printed on its body.

"Special vehicle for the Pursuit and Investigation Live Show!"

Today is the day when the program starts.

As the most popular live-streaming variety show currently produced by the official department of Dragon Country and with the largest investment, the number of people who had reserved seats for the show had reached 12 million before its debut, and it was extremely popular.

"The format of this program is truly unprecedented. They actually want to secretly designate the murderer to commit the crime freely. Although it's a simulated case, it's still quite thrilling!"

"Have you watched the newly released trailer? The entire process is without a script! The murderer commits the crime at will, then freely escapes. The production team will also invite professional criminal investigation experts to solve the case, capture the murderer, and recreate the most authentic scene of solving the case and pursuing the culprit. It's entertaining, and the officials will definitely do it!"

"Those sitting in this car must be the leading experts in criminal investigation, right? I heard that they were invited from all over the country. They are definitely top-notch!"

"Compared to the criminal investigation experts, I'm more concerned about the suspect secretly selected by that production team. He is the most mysterious one. There's still no trace of him at all!"

"Being able to deal with these experts, this person is definitely no ordinary person! Committing crimes and fleeing in the vast city, we, law-abiding citizens, would never have such an exciting experience in our entire lives..."

"Don't be so sure. Maybe they'll be caught right away. The national forensic experts will handle it personally. How could there be any escapees? Even Kid Kidd would end up in prison if he showed up!"

"That's true. After all, official programs are primarily focused on educational value."

As the black car drove past, on both sides of the road, many young people were pointing and talking animatedly.

Some people even held their mobile phones and took vigorous photos of the vehicle of the program team. Unfortunately, the one-way glass of the car was completely black, so it was impossible to see what was happening inside from the outside.

In the carriage.

The atmosphere was extremely quiet, completely different from the hustle and bustle outside.

A young man with square features was sitting in the back seat, his demeanor calm and composed.

Beside him, a police officer in uniform, who was also a member of the production team, was slowly taking out a silver card from an envelope.

"Su Chen, on behalf of the program team, I'm secretly informing you that your identity is... a murderer!"

······

"During the next three days, you can commit any kind of crime. The production team will be responsible for coordinating and communicating... But be aware that this is a simulation of crime. You must not engage in any actions that cause substantial harm to others or disrupt society."

"Furthermore, once you start your action, we will activate the miniature surveillance cameras around you and broadcast the entire process of your action live on the entire network."

"Of course, the expert team will prohibit the viewing and live streaming of related content."

The staff member read out the basic rules to Su Chen while looking at him. In their gaze, there was a mixture of curiosity and a hint of regret.

When the production team decided on the suspect, he had already read Su Chen's resume.

Don't underestimate this person. Although he is only 22 years old this year, in fact, he has graduated from the criminal investigation school eight years ago.

Every path leads to success. Once upon a time, Su Chen was a prodigy in criminal investigation. He was regarded as the person who would take on the leading role in the future.

Unfortunately, after graduation, he did not follow the teacher's advice and go to the front line to achieve great accomplishments. Instead, he chose to immerse himself in a series of old unsolved cases. These cases were from a long time ago, with insufficient evidence, and the witnesses and the families of the victims had all left or passed away. Even if they wanted to solve the cases, it was like an impossible task.

The case remains unresolved, and justice has been absent indefinitely.

Perhaps he wanted to return the missing justice to the hands of the victims. Su Chen wasted eight years of his life in these incomplete cases.

Then, with no achievements, exhausted of energy, they blend into the crowd.

This time, the production team chose him as the culprit because Su Chen indeed possessed extensive knowledge of cases.

At the same time, this was the last chance given by the top police officials to Su Chen. If he failed to demonstrate his abilities, then his career would come to an end.

On the seat.

Su Chen didn't show much surprise when he learned that he was the murderer.

Just calmly speaking:

"Give me three days to commit the crime. So, will the expert team start their operation three days later?"

The staff member nodded.

"This is one scenario. There is another scenario where your crime scene, evidence, etc. are discovered in advance. At that point, the expert team will immediately start the investigation."

This statement not only sets out the rules but also serves as a reminder and advice to Su Chen: "Make a plan before taking action. Within three days, the case can be arranged very meticulously."

Otherwise, if one rushes to commit the crime, it will inevitably have numerous flaws, giving the expert team something to exploit.

"I understand."

Su Chen nodded and gave an almost imperceptible sigh.

No matter how you think about it, the rules of this variety show are just too bizarre.

If one were to go back to the world before their own time-traveling occurred, it would definitely not pass the review.

Let's do the math. It's been eight years since I myself traveled to this parallel world.

The reasons and consequences of his participation in this peculiar variety show are actually quite complicated.

At first, everything went smoothly. Su Chen, who was a detective in the police force in his previous life, was transported to this parallel world as an eight-year-old child. With his expertise from his old profession, he quickly advanced three levels and became a renowned prodigy in the criminal investigation academy, graduating with the best grades.

This caused quite a stir within the industry.

The professors from the Criminal Investigation Institute and the experts from the public security authorities are all observing to see what kind of achievements Su Chen will make.

Even the top officials of the police department took notice of him.

However, the senior figures in the industry had high expectations for him, and Su Chen was also planning to make a big splash at that time.

Just as fate would have it, after fainting one night, something abnormal appeared in his mind.

That was an ancient room that existed only in one's imagination. Most of the room was submerged in darkness, except for a table on which there was a stack of case files.

The center of the plaque is engraved with several golden characters: "To solve extraordinary cases, one must first understand their causes."

When I looked at those files, I found that they were all unsolved cases from all over the world throughout history.

However, these files are all damaged and incomplete.

That night, while Su Chen was sleeping, another huge creature with a single horn and a lantern-like head emerged from the darkness, holding a warrant in its mouth. The warrant only had nine words on it: "Obey the order, complete the file, unlock the star map."

Just as Su Chen was taking the warrant, the giant beast suddenly opened its mouth and bit onto his arm. Su Chen woke up in shock. At first, he thought it was just a dream. He rolled up his sleeves and found several copper coin-sized tooth marks on his forearm, clearly visible.

Su Chen admitted that he had given in. At the same time, he was also a little curious - what on earth was this star map?

The regular frontline detectives couldn't access the case files, so Su Chen chose to retreat to the background and devoted himself to the investigation of the unsolved cases.

In fact, it was all about blindly copying the answers. During the day, I carefully studied the police files, and at night, I worked hard to complete the incomplete ones.

Eight years of 007's life. Eight long years. Finally, the incomplete parts were completed. I was moved to tears.

Su Chen submerged his consciousness into his mind and entered the room in his brain. The darkness in the room began to dissipate slightly, revealing a jade-like wall. On the wall were scattered stars, but they were all dim.

"The file has been completed. According to the new instructions on the token, all that needs to be done next is to participate in the case, and then the star map can be activated."

Su Chen thought to himself.

However, since he had been reviewing the case files for eight years without any results, the police believed that if the sword was left unused for a long time, it would rust. They also felt that during these eight years, he had almost forgotten all the knowledge about criminal investigation and detective work within the police department.

So when the above-mentioned person submitted an application to transfer to a frontline position, his request was rejected. Instead, he was assigned to a clerical position.

But in this case, Su Chen would no longer be able to directly participate in the case. So, out of desperation, he then signed up for the reality show "Tracking the Suspects Live".

Only in this way can he participate in the case, even if it's a simulated case it doesn't matter.

Result...

You bloody tell me that I'm the murderer? !

Su Chen heard this news and was completely stunned. He was the culprit, so how could the case be solved? Should I arrest myself?

Was about to make some jokes.

Suddenly.

A bright light flashed through Su Chen's mind.

Su Chen saw that on the star map in his mind, a light spot suddenly appeared on one of the depicted stars.

And the light points moved along with his consciousness. The arrangement of the stars on the far left was clearly in a lit-up state!

Su Chen was momentarily stunned. Could it be that being involved in the case could grant one the power to light up? Even if one was the murderer? !

In his mind, his fingers moved slightly, and he focused the light spot onto one of the stars.

Suddenly, the stars came out!

Su Chen then noticed that on this star, there was another strange pattern, which seemed to resemble a hand.
