Chapter 2 - The Cloaked Stranger

Chapter Two: The Cloaked Stranger

The figure's presence pressed down on Arin like a storm. Every instinct screamed danger, yet his body refused to move. It was as if invisible chains bound him to the cracked earth.

"You carry the mark," the stranger said, voice echoing unnaturally. "The Sealbreaker. The one who will decide whether this world is reborn… or destroyed."

Arin's grip tightened on the shard of steel. "I don't know what you're talking about," he snapped, though his voice trembled. "I'm not whoever you think I am."

The stranger chuckled, low and cold. "Ignorance does not change fate. The seal has already weakened. You are its vessel."

Before Arin could respond, the ground split open. A surge of energy erupted, forming a circle of glowing runes beneath his feet. The symbols pulsed, resonating with the mark on his forehead. Pain lanced through his skull, and visions flooded his mind—armies clashing, gods falling, a world consumed by fire.

He staggered, clutching his head. "Stop…!" The visions were too vivid, too real.

The cloaked figure stepped closer, extending a hand. "Embrace it. Only then will you survive what comes."

Arin's heart raced. He didn't trust this stranger, but the power coursing through him was overwhelming. If he rejected it, would he die here, in this ruined battlefield? If he accepted it, what would he become?

The runes flared brighter. The air trembled. And then, from the shadows beyond the ruins, a monstrous roar shattered the silence. A beast unlike anything Arin had ever seen emerged—its body armored in obsidian scales, eyes burning with hunger.

The stranger lowered his hand. "Your first trial arrives. Show me if you are worthy."

Arin swallowed hard, every nerve screaming in terror. He had no weapon, no training, no plan. Only the shard of steel in his hand and the volatile energy raging inside him.

The beast lunged.
