Kael's mind spun.
"End of humanity?! I just woke up!"
Noctis chuckled.
"Exactly."
The creature pointed at Kael's chest.
"That heart of yours…"
"…doesn't belong to you."
Kael froze.
"What?"
Virel stepped forward quickly.
"That's enough."
Noctis smirked.
"You're hiding it from him?"
Virel's eyes hardened.
"Yes."
Noctis laughed softly.
"How cruel."
Then it whispered the truth anyway.
"Kael… your heart once belonged to the most feared being in history."
Kael's breathing stopped.
"The Curse King."
Lightning cracked across the sky.
Kael whispered:
"That's not possible…"
Noctis leaned close.
"Oh, but it is."
"And when your heart fully awakens…"
The creature's voice dropped to a whisper.
"…he will awaken with it."
Kael staggered back.
"…He?"
Noctis smiled.
"The one who created every curse in existence."
Silence.
Then Virel said quietly:
"…Run."
Kael blinked.
"Why?"
Virel looked up at the sky.
Because something massive was descending from the clouds.
Something ancient.
Something impossible.
Virel's voice trembled slightly.
"…because the first curse just woke up."
