Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Man Who Bought My Life

The gun was pointed at my father's head.

"Please…" he whispered.

I had never seen my father beg before.

But tonight…

He was shaking.

The men surrounding us looked like shadows. Black suits. Cold eyes. Silent guns.

And standing in the middle of them…

Was him.

The Mafia King.

Adrian Voss.

Tall.

Calm.

Terrifying.

He didn't shout.

He didn't threaten.

He just looked at my father like a man deciding whether to crush an insect.

"You owe me fifty million dollars," Adrian said quietly.

My father dropped to his knees.

"I can pay you back. Just give me more time."

Adrian sighed.

"I already gave you time."

My heart pounded in my chest.

I grabbed my father's arm.

"Dad, what is he talking about?"

But he couldn't even look at me.

That was when I understood.

We were ruined.

Adrian's cold gaze slowly moved toward me.

For a moment…

Everything went silent.

His eyes studied my face carefully.

Like he had been looking for me.

"You have a daughter," he said.

My father's breathing became frantic.

"No."

Adrian tilted his head slightly.

"No?"

My father shook his head violently.

"She has nothing to do with this."

Adrian stepped closer.

The room suddenly felt smaller.

More dangerous.

His fingers lifted my chin slowly.

The touch was gentle.

Too gentle.

"What's your name?"

My voice trembled.

"E–Elena."

Adrian's lips curved faintly.

"Elena."

He turned toward my father.

"Good."

My father's eyes filled with terror.

"No… please… don't do this."

Adrian didn't even look at him.

"Your debt is forgiven."

Hope flashed across my father's face.

Then Adrian finished the sentence.

"In exchange for her."

Silence exploded in the room.

My heart stopped.

"What?" I whispered.

My father grabbed Adrian's leg.

"She's my daughter!"

Adrian's expression didn't change.

"Not anymore."

His men stepped forward instantly.

Strong hands grabbed my arms.

I struggled.

"Let me go!"

Adrian watched calmly.

From the floor, my father screamed my name.

But no one listened.

As they dragged me toward the door, Adrian spoke one last time.

"Take care of her."

The men nodded.

"Yes, boss."

The last thing I saw before the door closed…

Was my father crying.

And the Mafia King smiling.
