On the other hand, Lila had heard every word.
Her fingers tightened around the railing when her father suggested that the Alpha Prince might actually be fond of Amara.
'Fond of her?'
The thought irritated her more than she cared to admit.
She had expected Amara's life in the werewolf kingdom to be miserable. In Lila's mind, that was what Amara deserved.
She had imagined her sister living under the cold authority of a powerful werewolf prince, trapped in a marriage she had never chosen and surrounded by people who would never truly accept her.
But now her father was suggesting something entirely different. The Alpha Prince might care about her.
Lila's expression hardened.
She thought back over everything she had heard since Amara's departure. There had been no report of the Alpha Prince mistreating her.
No scandal had reached the Human Kingdom. No rumour had spread about Amara being punished or humiliated.
Nothing.
