Chapter 4 - the struggle - chapter 5

The first rays of dawn spilled through the tall windows, casting warm light across Seraphina's bedroom.

Hana groaned dramatically from the bed, tangled in the delicate sheets.

"Ughhh… my arms… my legs… everything hurts!"

Her voice was soft and melodic, not her usual loud self, which made her complaints sound almost comically refined.

Seraphina (internally): "Your exaggeration is unnecessary. You're alive, are you not?"

Hana rolled over, trying to swing her legs off the bed—but almost toppled over.

"Okay… okay… tiny arms, tiny legs, tiny everything… got it. Focus, Hana. Focus!"

She tried lifting herself upright again, her movements stiff and awkward. Each attempt was a careful negotiation between balance and fear of hurting herself.

Seraphina: "You need to respect this body's limits. One misstep and you could break a bone."

Hana froze mid-motion, her mind racing.

"Break a bone? BREAK A BONE? I'm not even eleven in this body—I mean, I am—but this body is… tiny! Fragile! Fragile-fragile!"

Hana attempted to stand, legs wobbling dangerously. She swayed like a tree in a storm.

Seraphina: "Stop swaying. Plant your feet firmly. Small steps. Slow movements."

Hana bent her knees carefully, raising her arms for balance.

"Small steps… okay… maybe this is like… a stealth mission? Like a ninja?"

She tiptoed toward the window. Each step felt exaggerated in her mind—her body trembling under the strain of her own momentum.

She tried picking up a small book from the desk. Her fingers barely grasped the edges. The book felt like a brick.

"Seriously?! How did Seraphina lift all this stuff without dying of exhaustion?!"

Seraphina: "Years of training and careful strength management. You, however, are reckless."

Hana flopped onto the floor dramatically, curling into a ball.

"Fine. I get it. I'm weak. I'm fragile. I'm… the perfect villainess!"

After a few attempts at walking and bending, Hana finally managed to stand without toppling over immediately. She raised her arms to imitate a graceful pose she imagined a villainess would do.

Seraphina: "Stop posing. Focus on coordination. Strength is irrelevant if your movements are sloppy."

Hana huffed, looking at her reflection in the mirror across the room.

The reflection showed a small, fragile girl with porcelain skin and sharp, intelligent eyes.

"Okay… maybe graceful is the way to go. Slow… deliberate… villainous… yes… villainous!"

She practiced walking from the bed to the desk. One foot in front of the other, careful to maintain balance. Every movement required thought, calculation, and extreme caution.

Seraphina: "Not bad… but your center of gravity is off. Bend your knees slightly, keep your back straight. Don't let your limbs swing."

Hana repeated the motion, nodding furiously.

"Okay… knees bent… back straight… don't swing… got it. I… am… Seraphina… sort of!"

Hana's first real mistake came when she tried to lift her hair out of her face.

Her small arms lacked the strength to hold it all. A lock slipped, knocking over a delicate vase on the desk.

CRASH!

Hana screamed—softly, melodically, in panic.

Seraphina: "I warned you! Now clean it up calmly. Every movement must be controlled."

Hana crouched carefully, picking up the broken pieces, terrified she'd cut herself.

"Okay… calm… careful… fragile… fragile… oh gods, fragile!"

The process took far longer than it should have. Sweat beaded on her forehead, and her breath came in shallow, rapid gasps.

Finally, she stood up again, wobbling slightly but unbroken.

"Phew… survived. I… am… alive. Victory!"

Seraphina (reluctantly impressed): "Barely. You are reckless, but… efficient when you focus."

After several hours of practice—walking, bending, picking up light objects—Hana finally felt a faint rhythm. Her movements began to feel a little more natural, though still awkward compared to her usual self.

She flopped onto the bed again, exhausted but exhilarated.

"I… I think I can do this! Tiny, fragile, perfect villainess body… I can survive!"

Seraphina: "You may be clumsy, chaotic, and utterly incapable of subtlety… but perhaps… you will manage."

Hana grinned, spinning a little dramatically on the bed.

"Oh… this is going to be fun!"

Even Seraphina couldn't help but feel a tiny spark of curiosity. Hana's instincts—though reckless—might actually make her body more… usable than expected.
