Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The Mirror of Shattered Truths

The following morning, Team 7 gathered at Training Ground 3, a desolate clearing surrounded by towering, ancient oaks. Aizen stood at the center, his pristine white robes contrasting sharply with the dust and falling leaves. He held neither a bell nor a weapon; instead, in his left hand sat a small, circular mirror with an intricate silver frame.

"The enemy does not always strike with a blade or a jutsu," Aizen said, his voice calm yet carrying an authoritative resonance that vibrated through the clearing. "The true enemy attacks from within. It strikes through what you fear, what you doubt, and what you refuse to accept about yourself. Your test is not to obtain bells; it is to shatter this mirror."

Aizen raised the mirror slowly. With a swift motion of his right hand, he pressed his thumb against the center of the glass.

"Shatter, Kyoka Suigetsu," he whispered.

There was no explosion, no physical impact. Instead, the glass of the mirror splintered into thousands of tiny shards that floated in the air, refracting the sunlight into strange violet and silver hues. The forest faded away, and each member of Team 7 found themselves isolated in a dark, void-like world, facing their deepest nightmares.

Naruto's Illusion: The Hollow and the Beast

Naruto found himself standing in the center of Konoha, but it was completely empty. The buildings were derelict, and the silence was suffocating. As he walked through the streets, the faces of villagers appeared in the windows, but they were distorted with pure hatred and disgust.

"Why is everyone looking at me like that?" Naruto yelled. "I'm Naruto Uzumaki! I'm going to be Hokage!"

The atmosphere shifted. The ground opened beneath him, and he found himself standing before a massive cage in a dark abyss. From between the bars, two giant red eyes emerged, and the beast began to laugh—a sound that shook his very soul.

"You are not Naruto," the Kyuubi's voice boomed with terrifying echo. "You are a mere vessel, a prison for me. When the time comes, I will consume you from the inside, and no one will even remember your name."

Naruto felt despair filling his heart. But the violet seed Aizen had planted years ago pulsed, and he began to hear another voice—Aizen's voice—whispering: "Fear is a cage for the weak. Will you remain locked away, or will you break the bars?"

Naruto roared, red chakra erupting around him. "I'm nobody's prison! I'm Naruto Uzumaki, and I'll make everyone acknowledge me!" He lunged at the giant eyes, punching with his chakra-clad fist, and the shards of the mirror began to crack around him.

Sasuke's Illusion: The Strongest and the Weakest

Sasuke found himself in the Uchiha Compound, but it was filled with the bodies of his kin. Standing at the end of the long hallway was Itachi.

"Itachi... why did you do this?" Sasuke asked, his voice trembling.

Itachi offered a dark, mocking smile. "Because I could. And because you are weak, little brother. Still too weak to even touch me."

Sasuke charged at Itachi, unleashing a barrage of strikes, but his hands passed through Itachi as if he were a ghost. The more he attacked, the weaker he felt and the more powerful Itachi became.

"The Sharingan is not enough," Aizen's voice echoed in his mind. "You seek power in the past, while true power lies in transcending the limits of what you know. Will you remain a frightened child, or will you become stronger than your brother?"

Sasuke screamed, his Sharingan spinning wildly as he focused his chakra with unprecedented intensity. "I will become stronger than anyone! I will surpass the limits of the Sharingan and I will kill you!" He struck out with a powerful blow, and the mirror shards shattered into dust.

Sakura's Illusion: The Mind and the Burden

Sakura found herself in a room filled with books, but they were all empty. As she tried to read, voices began to whisper from the shadows—the voices of the girls from the Academy, mocking her.

"Weak Sakura," they said. "Sakura who can do nothing but read. Sakura who can't even protect Sasuke-kun."

Sakura felt her heart sink. She knew she wasn't as strong as Naruto or Sasuke, and she feared being a burden to them.

"Intelligence is not enough," Aizen's voice whispered. "You seek power in knowledge, while true power lies in application. Will you remain a reader of books, or will you become a warrior?"

Sakura cried out, channeling chakra into her fist with a focus she had never felt before. "I am not weak! I will become strong, and I will protect my friends!" She slammed her fist into the floating shards, breaking the illusion apart.

The Conclusion of the Test

The void collapsed, and Team 7 found themselves back in Training Ground 3. They were all gasping for air, drenched in sweat, but their eyes held a new, sharp clarity.

Aizen stood before them, the mirror in his left hand perfectly intact once again. In his right hand, he held three small silver bells.

"You shattered the mirror," Aizen smiled. "You faced your fears and transcended the limits of what you believed about yourselves. This is the first lesson of Team 7. Power does not come from the outside; it comes from within."

Aizen held out the bells. "These bells are not a reward; they are a reminder. A reminder that you are now a team, and that you each possess the power to change the world you live in."

Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura looked at each other, then at Aizen, then at the bells. They knew this was only the beginning, and that under Aizen's guidance, they would become more powerful than they had ever dreamed.
