Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Military Contractor

"Alright." Halsey turned and asked, "There's no one around here, so tell me, what exactly do you want from me?"

"Hmm? Ah." Recovering from his shock, William said calmly:

"I intend to hire you, Professor, as a consultant for the company, and use your status as a medical Dr. to acquire a pharmaceutical factory or a private hospital.

To develop the best treatment formulas for various diseases, but the more important objective is... to have you help me complete the plan I've proposed, and I also believe this should be the research direction you've dreamed of."

"Oh?" Hearing William say this, Halsey immediately became interested and asked, "What kind of plan is it?"

"Beep!" Just then, Andre drove up and stopped not far from the two of them, rolled down the passenger window, and shouted, "Hey, kid, hurry up and get in the car!"

Seeing this, William stepped forward, opened the rear right door, and bowed slightly with a smile: "Please, young Dr."

"Hmm." Halsey didn't hesitate; she bent down and got into the car. As for William, he opened the passenger door and sat in. Andre then drove towards the factory in the suburbs.

Inside the car, "You can tell me now." Halsey was very curious.

"Alright." William turned his head to look back and said to her, "Professor, what I am about to tell you is something that perhaps not even the governments of the World have known."

"Mm-hmm!" Halsey became even more interested. William's expression became serious, and he said in a deep voice:

"In this World, there exist supernatural items, creatures, events, and even phenomena, and there will be more and more of them. My company exists to maintain the balance between normal society and the supernatural, ensuring that the human World is not destroyed."

Hearing what William said, Halsey showed no panic or mockery; instead, she put away her previous expression and said earnestly, "So... you want me to develop military weapons that surpass existing technology, right?"

"Oh?" William asked back, "Professor, don't you think I'm talking nonsense?"

"What's the big deal?" Halsey waved her hand indifferently and said, "If one holds a skeptical attitude towards everything, one cannot move forward, so I believe what you've said."

Listening to her explanation, William had to admit that talking to highly intelligent people is convenient. Like when he previously brought up the danger to the World to Andre, this burly man from a warrior nation thought his brain had been fried by alcohol. He said that in the future, he could only drink vodka, and other alcohol wasn't safe.

William had to use all his might to persuade him, but Andre still held a trace of doubt. Finally, he had to bring out his Grandpa as a trump card, claiming that there was a hidden will in the fairy tales his Grandpa told him when he was a child, instructing him to start the Umbrella company.

Now, Andre became incredibly obedient, doing whatever he was told. Thinking of this, William glanced at the old burly man who was concentrating on driving. He couldn't help but sigh at his Grandpa's charisma, which could actually make an elite among Elites like Andre submit.

After a pause, William continued to say to Halsey, "Professor, it's not just about equipment and high-tech weapons. (His tone deepened) What I want are Super Soldiers, who can truly achieve the feat of one against a hundred, a thousand, or even ten thousand. Or rather, calling it the next stage of human evolution would not be an exaggeration."

"Hahaha~!" Hearing such arrogant words, Halsey covered her mouth with one hand and asked with a smile, "Are you so sure I can develop them?"

"Of course." William said with a determined look, "Because you are Catherine Halsey."

"I accept your compliment." Halsey put her hand down, the corners of her mouth curling up slightly: "Then, boss, does this plan have a specific code name?"

"Yes." William faced forward, looking at the factory building getting closer and closer outside the window, and said calmly, "The spartan project."

"Spartan?" Halsey's eyes lit up, and she nodded in agreement: "In the Battle of Thermopylae, the actual number of troops from the Greece city-states was around seven thousand. However, the World only remembers the ferocity of the three hundred Spartans, which also allowed this nation to stand at the peak of the historical stage. Good name, boss."

"Wait until you sign the contract before you call me boss." William chuckled, and seeing Andre park the car, he opened the door and reminded Halsey in the back seat, "Get out, we're here." "Alright."

"Clang—clang—" With the sounds of doors opening and closing, the three of them walked in a large parking lot. If viewed from the sky, next to the parking lot was a large factory building about ten meters high, and there were three other similar buildings. The perimeter had a three-meter-high barbed wire fence used for isolation and security.

The maple trees outside the barbed wire were lush, with no traces of being cut down at all, and sometimes raccoons could be seen. Of course, the land nearby also belonged to William. It was about eighty acres, equivalent to the size of forty-five football fields.

Not far from the parking lot, which was the main gate of the factory, was a security booth and an electric barrier. Inside the security booth was a rather burly employee of African descent, wearing a white shirt and black trousers, with a walkie-talkie and a baton hanging from his waist.

The reason Andre was able to drive into the factory just now was thanks to this Security Personnel. Since the company paid the property taxes and restarted, William had Andre recruit several Security Personnel and cleaning staff, but he didn't hire a single Technician related to timber.

This was because all the timber processing machinery in the factory had been sold off by William at below-market prices to exchange for some funds and space. Even before the system explained things, he had guessed that he might recruit private forces like UBCS or USS, and might even need to set up related facilities, and so on.

"Click—" The echo of the lights turning on reverberated in the empty workshop. Cold-toned incandescent lights, white walls, and reflective gray floor tiles gave the three people entering the factory a very clean and clear feeling.

Immediately after, William and Andre brought Halsey, who was looking around, into the office on the left side of the factory gate. The layout of the office was also simple. A large black desk, a computer chair, a guest sofa, and a bookshelf.

William went behind the desk, opened the drawer, took out a kraft paper file bag, took out a document from inside, handed it to Andre, and said, "Andre, I took some time these past few days to organize the matters needed to start a military contractor business. Take a look."

Andre took the document with a confused look, feeling that the kid in front of him was acting up again. Only when he saw the ATF license, OSHA administration, and insurance matters, etc., on it did this old burly man realize that William was for real!

Immediately, Andre looked at William in astonishment and said, "Kid, I have the ATF license, but where did you get the money?!"

"Ahem... well," William made up, "Actually, I just discovered that Grandpa left me an inheritance, worth several billion."
