Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Halloween Incident

On Halloween night, Hogwarts School of magic held a grand party.

In the Great Hall, numerous pumpkin lanterns of various shapes floated leisurely in the air, emitting a mysterious and warm glow.

The Weasley twins, with their unique flair, dressed up as Vampires; their realistic fangs and eerie costumes made them look particularly terrifying, specifically to scare the students around them.

For a moment, laughter echoed throughout the hall.

The Professors sat together, happily and engrossed in conversation.

Only Professor Snape, though present, seemed distracted, his face grim, completely out of sync with the joyful atmosphere.

"It's good to be young," Professor McGonagall watched the vibrant students with affectionate eyes, a hint of wistfulness on her face, "I used to secretly wonder what my life would be like if I had a child…"

"You would undoubtedly be an excellent mother," Wes comforted her with sincere words.

"Oh, come on," Professor McGonagall waved her hand gently, a helpless expression on her face, "I'm not popular with children; those mischievous little ones probably hide far away when they see me."

"Most children nowadays don't understand that strictness is also a deep form of love. When they step into society later and experience hardships, they will definitely be deeply grateful for your past teachings."

Wes said these words, half out of genuine praise, and half with a bit of flattery towards the Professor.

"When did you become so eloquent?" Professor McGonagall's lips curved upwards, saying with a hint of teasing, "I wonder how many girls have been charmed by your smooth tongue."

Wes merely shrugged slightly, a calm and composed expression on his face.

"No way!" Professor McGonagall covered her mouth with her hand in surprise, her eyes wide, "Wes, you haven't even experienced a relationship yet."

At Hogwarts, many young Wizards had already begun their first romantic journey by the age of fifteen or sixteen.

A situation like Wes's was as rare as a legendary Unicorn.

Some Professors even cast sympathetic glances his way.

"Don't pity me," Wes said calmly, expertly cutting a small piece of steak, and slowly continued, "The World of magic is so vast, worthy of a lifetime of exploration and pursuit."

Pomona Sprout heard this and couldn't help but shed tears, choking out, "Poor Wes, he hasn't even tasted the sweet flavor of love yet."

Dumbledore suddenly interjected, "Do you need Severus to brew you some Amortentia?"

"Shut up, Albus!" Professor McGonagall said sternly, scolding loudly, "Stop coming up with such absurd ideas."

Wes put down his knife and fork, sighed softly, and said, "Principal, I am also skilled in brewing Potions. Although I can't compare to Professor Snape's exquisite mastery of Potions, I also know clearly that Amortentia is an illegal Potion."

"Is that so?" Dumbledore showed a wronged expression, mumbling, "When one gets old, their memory just gets worse and worse."

Wes would never believe Dumbledore's nonsense.

Just as the Professors were enthusiastically discussing finding a good girl for Wes.

Professor Quirrell suddenly rushed into the Great Hall in a panic.

His large turban was askew on his head, and his face was full of terror.

"Troll, a Troll in the Underground Room." After saying this, his legs gave out, and he collapsed onto the floor, fainting on the spot.

In an instant, the Great Hall became chaotic.

Professor Dumbledore had to use his magic, shouting at the top of his lungs, to quiet everyone down.

He quickly instructed the prefects to safely lead students from each year to their dormitories, while the Professors were to accompany him to the Underground Room to check the situation.

After all the students had left, Dumbledore led the Professors in a hurry towards the Underground Room.

Before they could enter the Underground Room, everyone heard intense fighting coming from the direction of the girls' bathroom.

The Professors immediately changed direction and quickly walked towards the girls' bathroom.

As soon as they got close, a nauseating smell assailed their noses—a putrid, pungent odor like a mixture of smelly socks and an uncleaned public toilet.

Everyone knew this was the unbearable, unique smell of a Troll.

The Professors quickly drew their wands, ready for battle.

Upon entering the girls' bathroom, they found the entire bathroom smashed beyond recognition, a complete mess.

A giant Troll lay weakly on the floor.

Hermione, sitting on the ground, still had glistening tears on her face, while Harry and Ron stood around her, continuously comforting her in soft whispers.

"Oh, my goodness." Professor McGonagall couldn't help but exclaim, "Who can tell me what happened?"

Seeing this, Wes waved his wand and cast a magic spell; a strong whirlwind swept in, carrying the pungent stench, and slammed open the window.

Everyone then breathed a sigh of relief.

Ron, at this moment, hadn't fully realized the seriousness of the situation. He excitedly gesticulated, showing off the entire process of him and Harry bravely rescuing Hermione.

As a result, he was met with Professor Snape's merciless verbal attack: "Are your heads filled with dung? In all these years, I have never encountered students as foolish as you."

Professor McGonagall also looked stern and began to scold the three severely: "Why didn't you inform a Professor immediately? Do you think we aren't trustworthy?"

Hermione weakly stood up, sobbing and choking out, "I accidentally attracted the Troll."

"If they hadn't found me in time, I would definitely be dead now! The Troll was about to swallow me whole when they arrived!"

"Miss Granger, I originally thought you were the most trouble-free student in this year's class."

Professor McGonagall's disappointed tone made Hermione hang her head in shame.

"Because of your reckless actions, Gryffindor will lose 5 points."

Professor McGonagall made the decision to deduct points without mercy.

Upon hearing about the point deduction, the three instantly looked disheartened, especially Hermione, who was even more self-reproachful, tears unconsciously welling up in her eyes.

"However, as first-year students, you were so brave in fighting the Troll. Given your excellent performance, Harry and Ron can each earn 5 points for Gryffindor."

Hearing this, the three immediately turned their sorrow into joy, excitedly high-fiving in celebration.

"Alright, check if you have any injuries."

Pomona Sprout stepped forward and carefully examined the three. After confirming they were unharmed, she told them to go back and rest.

The Troll's body continuously emitted waves of foul odor. In just a short while, the pungent smell filled the entire space again.

Professor McGonagall and several other Professors found the nauseating smell unbearable and left in a hurry.

At this moment, only Wes, Dumbledore, and Snape remained at the scene.

"What are you doing here?" Snape looked at Wes with disdain.

Wes, unhurried and calm, said, "I want to see if there's anything I can help with here."

But his eyes remained fixed on the Troll's body.

It was well known that many parts of a Troll's body could be used as precious raw materials for Alchemy and Potions. Having rarely encountered one, Wes couldn't help but feel a little tempted.

However, Snape had always been very wary of Wes.

"We don't need you here. Please leave immediately."

Dumbledore, who had been silent until now, also spoke up, urging him to leave: "Can you give us some private space?"

Wes, helpless, had no choice but to leave dejectedly, leaving behind a parting remark: "I can purchase Troll materials at a high price. If dissection is needed, I can also help. Trust me, I have extensive dissection experience."
