I'll keep this short because your time matters more than my introduction.
What you should know going in: English isn't my first language, this is my first book, and I am currently in debt. Those are three reasons I could turn out to be a terrible writer. I'm aware of all three.
I'll be honest with you, this novel isn't Lord of the Mysteries. It isn't Shadow Slave. Maybe someday something I write will sit in that company, but it won't be earned in a day.
So what is this story other than hot garbage? It's a slow story that spends too long on characters and foreshadowing, depending on who you ask. I don't think that's a flaw, but I understand if you do.
So here's my advice. Read ten chapters. If something hooks you, stay; I promise it gets WAY better. If it feels too slow or simply isn't for you, drop it and tell me why. Genuinely. I'd rather have you drop it and tell me than waste your time on something that doesn't deserve it.
