Chapter 5 - Shocking Changes Over Ten Years

"Ugh..."

A weak groan escaped Asahi's lips.

Sakura flinched at first, then a smile slowly spread across her face.

"Asahi! You're finally awake!" she exclaimed, relief shining in her eyes.

Asahi blinked and looked at Sakura's tear-streaked face.

"Sakura? Ugh... my head hurts so much. What happened?" she murmured, trying to sit up.

Sakura quickly steadied her, leaning her back against the tree trunk.

"Don't ask too many questions yet. Just focus on resting," Sakura said, her voice tinged with worry.

She stood and ran a short distance to the right. Not far from them, a river flowed with crystal-clear water.

Sakura pulled an empty bottle from her pocket, filled it, and returned to Asahi, helping her drink.

Asahi gulped down the water, feeling a wave of freshness sweep through her. Her mind cleared completely.

"Sakura, are you okay? What about those three men?" Asahi asked, anxiety creeping into her voice.

Her eyes darted around, but the three men were nowhere in sight.

Instead, a mysterious figure with a cold, indifferent expression stood not far away.

Her face tightened with caution.

"Who are you?"

She instinctively tried to pull Sakura closer, but the girl gently stopped her.

"Asahi, don't be rash. He's not a bad person—in fact, he's the one who saved us. He's our savior."

Asahi blinked in surprise, looking at her doubtfully.

"Our savior?"

Sakura nodded weakly and began to explain everything.

When Asahi finally understood, her face flushed with embarrassment.

She quickly lowered her head and apologized.

"I'm sorry, sir. I thought you were a bad person earlier. I didn't mean to be hostile."

Her voice was tinged with guilt and embarrassment.

At the same time, she shot a glance at Sakura, a hint of annoyance in her eyes. If only this girl had told her sooner, she wouldn't have acted that way.

Feeling Asahi's gaze, Sakura blushed slightly and lowered her head.

Amon waved his right hand. "It's fine. Your business here is done. Now, I need to ask for your help."

Sakura hesitated, worried he might ask for something beyond their abilities.

Although Amon had saved her and her sister, his unusual appearance naturally made him seem suspicious.

Asahi glanced at Sakura, reading her thoughts. But unlike the shy girl beside her, she was bold and feared nothing.

Since Amon had saved them, he had to be a good person.

"Tell me—what do you need?" Asahi asked firmly.

Amon studied her intently before speaking. "I need to ask a few questions. First—where exactly is this? Is it Earth? What happened here? Why are there strange monsters, and why do the trees look nothing like Earth?"

Sakura and Asahi were taken aback. They exchanged glances, as if they could read each other's minds.

"Umm… are you sure that's all you want in return for your help?" Asahi asked hesitantly.

At first, she had expected him to ask for something much more demanding. To her surprise, his request was so simple.

"Yes, I'm sure. Do you think I'd ask for something unreasonable?" Amon frowned, appraising them from head to toe. "Honestly, you two aren't really my type. So don't get your hopes up."

They were indeed beautiful, but after centuries living with Azura and Morrigan, Amon had grown immune to mortal beauty, no matter how striking.

After all, the two sisters were among the most beautiful in all of Hell.

Compared to them, Sakura and Asahi were slightly below, so he had no ill intentions toward them.

Asahi and Sakura felt a flush of embarrassment at Amon's bluntness. Sakura even covered her face, unable to hide her blush.

His words hit them like a hammer to the pride and a slap to the face.

Asahi quickly regained her composure. To be honest, she found Amon's arrogance irritating.

They were usually admired by every man who looked at them—but for the first time, a stranger had openly declared he wasn't interested.

For some unknown reason, Asahi felt a spark of challenge. But she knew now was not the time to act on it.

"How should I start…? Actually, your question is a bit strange, sir. This world is technically Earth, but it has changed drastically over the past ten years," Asahi began hesitantly. "Back then, this world…"

She explained everything carefully and in detail.

Amon folded his arms, listening calmly.

Fifteen minutes later, Asahi finished, and Amon finally grasped the full situation.

His usually calm face had turned slightly pale.

'Ten years ago… did the world really change this much?'

He swallowed hard, struggling to believe it. According to Asahi, spatial rifts had appeared across the world ten years ago.

Those rifts became gateways for mysterious monsters, unleashing chaos and destruction on the surface.

Many countries fell, and the few that survived were eventually destroyed after four more years of relentless attacks.

To prevent humanity from being wiped out, the surviving leaders united to form several new powers, known as the Four Guardians of the World: the Trivon Union, the Kingdom of Altorra, the Theocracy of Santhera, and Fenria.

Each was made from fragments of the nations that had been destroyed.

Their own country, Japan, had been among the fallen. It merged with neighboring regions to form Fenria.

Fortunately, in the fifth year, humans underwent a surprising evolution. Many of them awakened mysterious, powerful abilities to fight the monsters.

They were called the Transcendants and were ranked across seven levels, from S to F.

F was the weakest, while S represented the pinnacle of power.

Amon was currently in one of the E-level dungeons near a city called Corontia.

As he processed this shocking information, a sweet voice suddenly echoed in his mind:

"[Congratulations to the Demon King for uncovering the truth of the world after returning to Earth! The system has been activated!]"
