Autumn's day was already strange.

But it got worse.

Because during third period art class—

She spilled black ink all over the floor.

And accidentally ruined a supply cart.

Her teacher stared at the mess.

Then sighed.

"After school detention."

Autumn groaned.

The classroom emptied slowly.

She was cleaning ink from the floor when someone knocked on the door.

She didn't need to look up.

"You're stalking me now?" she said.

Luca walked in.

"I heard you got detention."

"You heard fast."

"News travels."

He leaned against a desk watching her scrub the floor.

"You're enjoying this," she muttered.

"A little."

She glared up at him.

"You're a terrible person."

"Probably."

He grabbed another towel and crouched beside her.

Autumn blinked.

"You don't have to help."

"I know."

"Then why are you?"

He shrugged.

"I like being around you."

The words were simple.

But they landed heavy.
