Chapter 120 - The Unseen Returns

Three months later, the Unseen returned.

Not as an attacker—as a visitor.

The shadows materialized at the community center's edge, visible but not threatening. A voice—softer than before—touched every mind.

I have considered.

The community held its breath.

For the first time in eternity, I have considered something besides hunger. A pause. I do not understand what you offered. Connection. Community. Family. These are foreign to me.

"But you want to understand," Maya said, stepping forward.

...Yes. I think. I am not certain.

"That's okay. Uncertainty is the first step."

The Unseen's form shifted—less solid, more curious. What do I do?

"Start small. Watch. Learn. Don't feed—just observe. See what we've built. See if it's something you could be part of."

And if I cannot?

"Then you'll know. And maybe you'll try something else." Maya smiled. "That's what growth looks like. Trying, failing, trying again."

The Unseen was silent for a long moment.

Then—impossibly—it nodded.

I will watch. I will learn. I will... try.

The shadows receded.

But everyone felt it—still present, still watching.

Not as predator.

As student.
