That Day

It was a seemingly normal day. The village elders gathered and shared thoughts, although routine this day was special.

It was the day that the knights from the royal Army would come to collect the monthly tax. Everyone was on edge, these knights were known for being brutal to poor villagers like them. It was their way of life.

Then everyone heard a rumble. It was the legion of knights sent to gather taxes from the villages on the outskirts. All the villagers gathered at the centre of the village.

Then the knights arrived. They numbered about thirty, each of them sitting valiantly on top of their horses, clad in white robes with the royal sigil on their backs. Then the general spoke "I am Cohen von Silvion, general of the Eastern branch of the royal knights". As soon as he utters those words every single one of the villagers kneeled. This wasn't just a normal person, he was Lord Cohen known to be one of the cruelest knights in the Kingdom. To say he was infamous would be an understatement.

He then proceeded to open a scroll carried over to him by one of his men. He read " by royal decree this village is hearby ordered to give out 100 silver coins along with 30 copper coins, failure to comply with this order will result in punishment!"

There were murmurs among the crowd. Then a boy valiantly declared "that's just absurd!". The crowd stayed silent, but the boy continued "if we were to give you that much we wouldn't make it through winter"

The general turned slightly his anger showing through his facade , "who among you filthy villagers said that!". He yelled. "I order you to point them out immediately".

Without a doubt in their thoughts everyone pointed at the boy dumb enough to question the royal decree.

Then the general spoke out to his knights "bring him out" . After those words two knights stepped down. They quickly stepped into the crowd and dragged the boy and presented him infront of the general.

"If I was able to, I would have executed you right now, but your incolence has to be judged at the capital" the general spoke. "Now then my soldiers restrain him .he will be under our custody up until we arrive at the capital"

Then one of the knights punched him the force was enough to knock him out cold
