Chapter 2 - BEYOND THE 10th FLOOR

Now Kaito and Yuna returned to their hometown. Both of them noticed that missing posters had been pasted everywhere—on walls and pillars. After seeing this, Kaito and Yuna confirmed that they had not only returned to their younger bodies but had also traveled back in time.

They went back to their homes and met their families. Their families asked where they had been and why they had disappeared. Kaito and Yuna replied that they didn't remember anything. They said that when they woke up and opened their eyes, they found themselves in a jungle.

A week passed after they returned to the past. Kaito and Yuna noticed that everything was happening exactly the same way as it had before.

Yuna then made a plan to change the future. She told Kaito that if they wanted to change the future, they had to change the present by making small differences from the previous timeline.

Suddenly, they heard someone shouting. Kaito turned back and saw Toru. The moment Kaito saw Toru, he immediately ran toward him and gave him a tight hug. Tears appeared in Kaito's eyes.

Toru was shocked and confused.

"Is everything okay?" Toru asked.

Kaito replied, "Yes."

Then Toru jokingly asked Kaito how Yuna had become his girlfriend. Yuna blushed. Kaito quickly said that they were just friends and that the story was long. He said they would tell him another day.

Yuna looked at Kaito and asked with a smile, "Just friends?"

Later in class, an announcement was made about a summer trip. This time, Kaito also registered his name for the trip because he wanted to change the future.

During the trip, many things happened the same way as before. Jin proposed to Yuna again, but this time Yuna rejected him. Instead, Yuna proposed to Kaito, and they became a new couple.

Kaito felt very happy.

Yuna came closer to him. Their faces were very close to each other. Kaito closed his eyes, expecting something more. But instead, Yuna hugged him and whispered,

"Sorry for proposing to you. I only did it to change the future. Even small changes can affect what happens later. Don't worry—we're still just friends."

She smiled.

Kaito, Yuna, and Toru enjoyed the rest of the trip together.

Later, while Kaito was sitting alone under a tree, he suddenly saw a small girl who looked exactly like the mysterious island girl he had seen before. Her hand was being grabbed by a very ugly and strange hand, but Kaito couldn't clearly see who it belonged to.

Suddenly the girl shouted to Kaito,

"This is not how it is supposed to happen!"

Then she disappeared.

Kaito decided not to tell Yuna about this because he didn't want to panic her.

When Kaito returned home from the trip, he saw a crowd of people gathered in the street. Curious, he walked closer and pushed through the crowd.

He was shocked to see the dead body of a boy who had been crushed by a truck.

Kaito suddenly remembered the incident from the trip and realized that the boy had died at exactly the same time as in the previous timeline.

Kaito felt very sad. He returned home and began thinking that maybe they had not changed the future at all.

Late at night, dark clouds covered the sky. Lightning flashed and heavy rain began to fall.

Suddenly, a small girl grabbed Kaito's hand. She gave him something called the "Fruit of the Past."

She said only one thing:

"Help her… or go with them."

Kaito asked many questions, but the girl only repeated the same words again and again.

Finally, Kaito decided to follow her.

He picked up an umbrella and walked with her through the rain. As they reached the middle of the street, the rain became heavier and the lightning grew louder. Kaito started to panic, but the girl's expression never changed.

They kept moving forward.

Eventually, they arrived at Great Fugo City Mall.

Kaito was confused. The mall was closed, and he told the girl they should come back in the morning. But the girl ignored him and walked toward the entrance.

She snapped her fingers.

The door suddenly opened.

Kaito was shocked.

The girl walked into the elevator. Kaito had visited this mall many times and clearly remembered that the building only had 10 floors. But the elevator panel showed 15 floors.

The girl looked at Kaito and said,

"When we reach the 15th floor, do not step out of the elevator. If anyone enters the elevator, do not talk to them. Follow this rule strictly… otherwise…"

She didn't finish her sentence.

The elevator started moving.

When it reached the 15th floor, the doors opened.

Kaito looked outside and saw something impossible.

Instead of a mall corridor, there was a dense jungle with enormous trees that didn't exist anywhere in the world.

Then a very tall man appeared. His mouth was covered with black cloth, his eyes were red, and his hair was long.

The man stared at Kaito and asked,

"How are you?"

Kaito didn't reply. He kept his head down and looked at the floor.

Suddenly, the elevator shook slightly.

Kaito looked at the button panel again and saw two new floors: 16 and 17.

The tall man pressed the 17th floor button.

When the doors opened again, Kaito saw a desert at night. There was no rain there.

The girl grabbed Kaito's hand again and told him to step out of the elevator.

But the moment they stepped outside, the girl disappeared.

Kaito turned back, but the elevator had also vanished.

He looked up into the dark sky.

There he saw the cut heads of everyone who had attended the future party.

Then he saw Yuna running toward him.

But before she could reach him, her head suddenly separated from her body.

A voice echoed through the darkness:

"Welcome, Kaito."

Kaito suddenly woke up.

He rubbed his eyes and looked around. He was in his room.

He checked outside the window. There was no sign that it had rained during the night.

Confused, he called Toru and asked if it had rained. Toru said no rain had happened.

Kaito tried to believe it was just a dream caused by stress and sadness.

But deep in his heart…

he knew something was wrong.
