Chapter 1 - Awaken One's limits

"Munir"

An olive skinned boy sat near the window. His strong gaze drifted beyond the school walls. Sunlight spilled across his face, highlighting his soft brown complexion.

"Munir"

His usual navy hair brightened by the sun, softly blowing in the wind, each curl spreading across his face. His gaze fixed upon the clouds as they lazily drift across the sky. The rest of his class focused on their books or at the front of the class where their annoyed teacher stood.

"Munir"

The boy was lost in endless thought, his elbow resting on the desk and chin propped in his hand

"MUNIR"

With that the boy's consciousness seemed to be snatched back into his body, his gaze now upon his stern faced teacher.

"Munir you can't just sit in class daydreaming all day"

Munir's face was still painted blank as if he didn't understand his teacher's words. Some other students began to smirk and giggle at the teacher's comment about munir, however to munir it was as if shadows were merely whispering around him.

"Enough, Everyone open your books to the first chapter we are going over world history."

With that a loud sigh was echoed by the large majority of the class.

Munir's mind started to drift again after all it wasn't as if he didn't know this chapter, everyone did, the history that people would talk about endlessly.

The world of gaia was approximately 4.55 billion years old in 1997 CE there were only around 3,743 awakened users that were known of. Until July 7th 8:32pm where an orb of pure anima crashed into the earth. The resulting explosion killed approximately 5.3 billion people, with this event later being known as The Great Destruction. Shifting the very earth itself creating new land masses and altering the ones that were already present. The Great Destruction caused an influx of anima within the world and soul core being formed within humans at a much higher rate. With this new advancement it took only until 193 PGD to reach the same stage of humanity before The Great Destruction, 17 nations grew from the rubbles of humanity. 4 years after regaining humanities achievements the First Spirit War began in 197 PGD lasting 14 years until 211 PGD. Even with this war humanity still grew further until the current year of 278 PGD.

"Alright class. That's the end of today's lesson, I will unfortunately see you all tomorrow."

With that the students start to pour out of the classroom into the halls, with Munir slowing following in the back. His baggy black tracksuit hiding his well built body, his tall frame exemplified by his unusually well posture making it so that he had to duck under certain doorways when traversing the school. Munir had a large cross body bag slung on his left shoulder with his right carrying what seemed to be a rectangular object covered in bandages.

As everyone exited the school a large dark dome surrounded the school grounds.

A student messaging his parents walked into the dome and was sent several metres back his body now a charred corpse.

"Do you maggots think you can exit this place with out my permission"

An old man with a long white beard that reached his knees, his shiny bald head beamed sunlight of it, he stood in the sky, as if he was standing on the air itself. A red and black robe was draped across his body. Clutched in his left hand a traditional Indonesian fan blew in his face. An enormous grin plastered itself upon his face with an errotic gleam in his eyes at the thought of his next actions.

"All you here today shall die, for my entertainment"

As the words emptied out his mouth, he swung his fan and with the large gust of wind emitted, it flew towards those in the courtyard of the school crushing at least 18 people under it.

The smile on the old man's face grew even more the errotic look multiplying to the point of looking as if the man was about to climax.

This caused the remaining people in witness of these actions to disperse everywhere.

The screams of those outside penetrated the school causing confusion and worry.

"Why are guys screaming outside"

"Why you asking me like i know"

"Do you think a celeb came"

"No way this school is to unknown for that"

"Those don't sound like happy screams though"

The students started to discuss the noise amongst themselves, many piling onto the windows to see the commotion outside. However once they saw the blood bath outside the curiosity seized and was replaced with fear and panic.

The screams of those who had seen the murders echoed through the hall allowing the fear to spread further.

"Oh, what a lovely sound the fear these maggots feel brings pure joy to my old heart"

The geezer flew into the building using his fan to make an entrance for himself.

"Lovely children don't fret, your lives will all be over soon enough"

The vile smell of iron began to fill the school as the old man tore apart everyone indiscriminately the wind he generated spreading the halls with the smell.

As people tried to escape they trampled on each other and pushed people to make obstacles for the wind to not harm them however it was useless. Each swing of the Mans fan destroyed more and more the walls littered with slash marks and whole sections of the school crumbled to nothing but rubble. And with the old man's laughter began to intensify the pure joy he gained from this act was undeniable; it was as if a child was playing with their favourite toy.

However now he stood face to face with an unfazed boy named Munir.

"Aren't you going to run boy"

Munir stared blankly back at him

"Hmmmm, your no fun you have no fear are you perhaps suicidal, if that's the case its best if i let you li…"

Before the man could say his last words a rectangular box wrapped in bandages slammed into his face. The man started to leak blood from his nose, his left side of his face also bruised from the impact.

"yyyY YOU FOUL BRAT HOW DARE YOU I SHALL DESTROY YOU AND YOUR WHOLE BLOODLINE, YOU DARE ATTACK ME A GOD COMPARED TO YOU FILTH"

"I thought gods can't be harmed"

I smirk crossed Munir's face, that only enraged the man even more.

"You think this is a joke i shall have you hung across the sky"

The bandages around the case began to unravel to show a wooden box covered in seals. As Munir forced the box open, the old man swung his fan and sent a flurry of slashes towards him. Before the wind slashes could reach Munir it was intercepted by the blade that was sealed within the box.

A single edged blade was now in Munir's hand. The blade's colour was dark grey with an area splodged with a dark brown right above the handle. Munir dashed forward aiming the tip of the blade at the man's eye.

"Encomposing Gust"

A large gust of wind encompassed the man pushing everything around him away including munir.

Landing onto the pile of students still trying to escape his appearance with a blade in hand only seemed to scare them more. Their panicked looks grew even more fearful with the man's appearance chasing Munir down.

Munir tried to swing his blade but before the attack could land, the man launched a wind blade into his guts.

The intensifies sensation of pain ringed in his mind. Grabbing his stomach as if to try keep his guts from spilling out. He felt his lunch trying to escape through his mouth, he gritted his jaw as hard as he could trying to push on.

But before he could the old man readied another another attack.

"YOUR INSOLENCES SHALL MARK YOUR DEATH"

A grin stretching across his face.

However before he could land an attack on him, a fist planted onto his face.

The old man was sent flying away a pile of his teeth now lying were he was previously.

Someone was now there, a man even taller than Munir, his chestnut skin glowing in the light.

"I apologise for being late, it took me a bit to destroy the barrier around the school. Luckily enough someone strong like you was able to hold this bastard of, thanks kid.

A wide toothy smile was etched on the man's face, looking directly into Munir's eyes.

"Another maggot added to the pile i see"

The old man regained his sense and was now floating on the same level as the newly emerged fighter.

"I'm surprised you and your people could destroy my barrier im quite efficient at casting them"

"I was the only one"

A stern almost disgusted look was now on the mans face.

"Hmmm"

A confused look flashed on the old man's face

"Ahahahahahaahhahahahahaaha, you think i would believe a lie like that only a level 6 awakened user could do that"

The man clapped his hands together

"Draw"

As the man said that he unclasped his hands, and now emerging between his palms 5 playing cards were produced. They flew around before all lining up facing.

"WAIT YOU CAN'T BE THE SOV…"

"10 Of Spades: Black Veil"

Darkness surrounds both the men stopping just before Munir and the other students. Just as fast as it had emerged it had dissipated.

The old man's body was now dishevelled blood covering him from head to toe his robes now nearly completely gone. It looked like his body was slashed up by a blade.

The man now faced Munir. As he reached his hand out Munir instinctively jumped back widening the distance between them.

"Thats some good instinct you have kid"

His hand was now placed firmly on Munir's shoulder, the man now behind him.

"My names Alexander"

He handed Munir a card. The only thing on it was a number.

"Call me when you realise your true calling i have a knack for seeing talent"

A dumbfounded look was covering Munir's face, as if he was shocked at the very existence of Alexander.

With that Munir's consciousness faded giving into the pain he had endured.
