Chapter 2 - 2Battle with Fire Demons in the Desert, The White Tiger Awakens to Truth

In the Western Desert, yellow sand filled the sky and heat waves scorched the air. The land was covered in wind-eroded ruins—the territory of the Fire Demon Legion. The Western Metal Pearl was hidden in the "Burning Metal Valley" deep in the desert.

As soon as Jian Bing entered the desert, he felt waves of scorching battle aura wash over him. Soon, a group of fire demons in red armor surrounded him. Their leader wielded a flame-wreathed sword and sneered: "White Tiger—you dare come for the Metal Pearl? Today you will perish here!"

Jian Bing roared and charged forward, his iron broadsword clashing with the flame sword in a shower of sparks. The fire demons were numerous and could command flames; soon, the desert was engulfed in raging fire, trapping Jian Bing at its center.

By nature brave and fierce, Jian Bing fought with increasing vigor, his sword moving like a whirlwind as he cut down demon after demon. But the demons seemed endless, and their attacks grew more intense. Gradually, Jian Bing began to tire, his body covered in burn wounds.

He retreated to a rock and watched the endless stream of demons, his heart filled with anxiety. Then he remembered the Immortal Guardian's words: "Metal is hard and strong, but it needs water to temper it—only by balancing hardness with softness can it reach its full potential."

Jian Bing closed his eyes and focused his energy. Instead of attacking recklessly, he merged his metal energy with the faint water vapor in the air. When he swung his sword again, his strikes carried both strength and gentle flow. With a flash of blade light, he diverted the demons' flames entirely, then struck at their leader.

The demon commander was stunned and tried to block, but was sent flying by Jian Bing's balanced power. "Impossible! How could you master such a technique?" the commander roared.

Jian Bing stood with his sword at rest and said solemnly: "The power of protection does not come from brute force alone—it requires understanding the way of balance!" With that, he cut open the entrance to Burning Metal Valley, where a golden pearl floated on a stone platform, radiating sharp metal energy.

As Jian Bing took the pearl and prepared to leave, he saw a streak of red light in the sky—Ling Guang's life flame. Something was wrong in the south!

Ambush at the Volcanic Island, The Vermilion Bird Faces Crisis

Above the Southern Sea, the Volcanic Island spewed magma year-round, its heat waves reaching for hundreds of miles—ordinary people could not approach it. Ling Guang arrived riding flames, her figure streaking like a crimson meteor onto the island.

In the island's core, a magma pool churned endlessly. The Southern Fire Pearl was hidden in the "Scorching Crystal Cave" deep beneath the magma. Ling Guang took a deep breath, channeled her fire energy, and leaped into the magma.

The intense heat did not harm her; instead, it enhanced her fire power. Soon, she reached the crystal cave, where a blood-red pearl lay quietly, surrounded by nine rings of flame.

As Ling Guang reached for the pearl, a cold laugh echoed from within the cave: "Fairy Vermilion Bird—thank you for retrieving the Fire Pearl for me!"

A dark figure appeared—it was You Sha, the Demon Lord. With a wave of his hand, he snatched the pearl and struck Ling Guang with his palm. Caught off guard, she could only defend with her flames, but was sent flying by his chaotic energy, crashing to the edge of the magma pool with blood spilling from her lips.

"Did you think I would let you gather all the pearls?" You Sha sneered. "Now I have the Wood and Fire Pearls. Once I take the Metal and Water Pearls, I will shatter the Cauldron of Heaven and Earth completely, returning the world to chaos!"

With that, You Sha turned into a plume of black smoke and vanished. Ling Guang struggled to her feet, gazing in the direction he had gone, her heart heavy with guilt. She endured her wounds and flew westward on flames—she knew Jian Bing must have the Metal Pearl by now, and she had to warn him before You Sha arrived!

Traps in the Ice Plains, The Black Tortoise Uncovers the Scheme

In the Northern Ice Plains, thousands of miles of ice and snow stretched to the horizon. The ancient ruins lay beneath the "Frozen Palace" at the plain's center. Zhi Ming walked across the ice, and a path opened before him wherever he stepped.

Outside the Frozen Palace, Zhi Ming shattered the thick ice with his palm and entered. The palace was bitterly cold, its walls carved with ancient runes. A pale blue pearl floated on the central platform—the Northern Water Pearl.

Zhi Ming stepped forward slowly, and as his fingertips touched the pearl, the palace echoed with the sound of mechanisms activating. Countless ice spikes shot toward him from all directions. Zhi Ming swung his twin hammers to block them all, but the platform slowly sank to reveal a hidden chamber below.

Chaotic energy filled the chamber, and You Sha's voice echoed from the darkness: "Black Tortoise—you have come. I have placed a curse on this Water Pearl; once you take it, chaotic energy will spread through it to consume the world!"

Zhi Ming stared at the pearl, not moving rashly. He channeled his water energy and carefully sensed the pearl's aura. After a moment, he said in a deep voice: "Do you think such tricks can stop me? Water can carry a boat or capsize it—though chaotic energy is fierce, it can be guided and purified!"

With that, Zhi Ming infused his water energy into the pearl. The pale blue surface rippled gently, wrapping the chaotic energy within. As he channeled his power, the chaotic energy was gradually purified, and the pearl regained its pure glow.

"Impossible! You can purify chaotic energy!" You Sha emerged from the shadows, his eyes filled with shock. He struck at Zhi Ming, but suddenly saw streaks of green and white light in the sky—Meng Zhang and Jian Bing had arrived!

The Four Symbols Unite, Peace Returns to the Universe

Atop Mount Kunlun, cracks had spread across most of the Cauldron of Heaven and Earth. You Sha held the Wood and Fire Pearls, ready to smash them against the cauldron.

"Stop!" A loud shout rang out as Meng Zhang, Jian Bing, and Zhi Ming sped down from the sky. Ling Guang also arrived, enduring her wounds. The four took positions at the four directions, surrounding You Sha.

"Do you think you can stop me?" You Sha sneered, releasing the full power of the two pearls. Chaotic energy surged like a tide, and darkness covered the world.

Meng Zhang held the Wood Pearl and declared loudly: "Only when the Four Symbols are united can we guard the universe!" Jian Bing, Ling Guang, and Zhi Ming echoed him together, channeling the power of their pearls. In an instant, green wood energy from the east, white metal energy from the west, red fire energy from the south, and black water energy from the north gathered above the cauldron, forming a four-colored light barrier.

Enraged, You Sha unleashed all his chaotic energy to collide with the barrier. The impact shook Mount Kunlun to its core, and the four Symbols staggered back, their chests tight with pain.

"We can't keep this up!" Ling Guang said suddenly. "If we use our essence blood as a guide, we can merge the power of the Four Symbols to its fullest!" The others exchanged glances, their eyes filled with resolve—they knew this would drain most of their divine power, forcing them to live as mortals from then on. But to protect the world, they had no choice.

Four streams of essence blood flew from their fingertips into the pearls. The four-colored light blazed brightly, transforming into a massive dragon of the Four Symbols that surged toward You Sha. Unable to resist, You Sha screamed as he was sealed back into the cauldron.

The dragon circled and poured its power into the cauldron. The cracked surface slowly mended, and its light shone bright once more. Chaotic energy dissipated completely—the eastern sky regained its morning glow, the west returned to peace, rain fell on the south, and ice melted in the north.

After the battle, the four Symbols' forms became translucent. They smiled at each other and transformed into mortals, disappearing into the world. The Cauldron of Heaven and Earth rose slowly into the clouds, hidden from sight, waiting for the day it would be needed again.

The people only knew that an auspicious sign had blessed the world, never knowing that four guardians watched over the land they had risked everything to protect, continuing their duty through the flow of time...
