[Loves Taking Pictures]: Th-This is way too ridiculous! Do newcomers seriously start off this strong now?
[Loves Taking Pictures]: I may not know much about astronomy, but I did ask Dan Heng about this stuff! If a person gets too close to a star, they'll be roasted alive!
[Princess of the Moon]: My, how very impressive. I truly admire Miss March 7th's breadth of knowledge.
Whether Kaguya Houraisan was being sarcastic or not, the way she phrased it felt a little off.
It was just that March 7th herself did not catch it at all and was happily grinning to herself.
[Loves Taking Pictures]: Ehehe, it's not that much~
Aboard the Astral Express, March 7th, sitting in her own room, scratched her head and broke into a silly smile.
She was probably just happy that she had shared some useful knowledge with everyone, completely unaware that this was all basic common sense to most of them.
Still, March quickly tossed the matter aside and sent another message into the chat group.
Other than the two of them, there were seven people in the entire chat group. Kaguya Houraisan and Mark were both online as well.
As for Yuji Itadori, no one knew what he was up to, but he was offline. Lucy was the same.
Though considering who they were, Roland found that understandable. One was a student at Jujutsu High who had classes and had to learn how to exorcise curses. The other was a mercenary who had jobs to do.
Looking further down, everyone was still talking about him.
Roland had already expected that much.
[Princess of the Moon]: …No matter how one looks at it, this newcomer is quite extraordinary. To be this close to the sun and still remain completely unharmed…
The peerlessly beautiful princess of the moon sat kneeling in her bedroom, idly cracking sunflower seeds as she watched Roland drifting near Mercury. She looked relaxed on the surface, but inwardly, shockwaves were crashing through her mind.
She had only been in the chat group for a few days, yet the amount of information she had gained from it far exceeded what she had accumulated over decades—perhaps even centuries.
Compared with the others in the group, she did not know nearly as much about advanced technology or outer space. But when it came to basic astronomical knowledge, she certainly knew more than March 7th did.
[Invincible] Mark was a modern-day teenager, after all. Whatever else might be said, he had received a modern education. And no, not some watered-down joke of one—his father Omni-Man, Nolan, and his mother Debbie were both pretty strict when it came to academics. More importantly, Mark himself pulled his weight. He was nothing like most of his classmates, who slacked off and spent all their time partying.
As for [Hero Time!], there was no need to even mention him.
The Omnitrix on Ben Tennyson's wrist was an ultra-advanced piece of technology created by Azmuth of Galvan Prime, the greatest mind in five galaxies. It was Level 20 technology. The only things above it were Professor Paradox's Chrononavigator and that magical toy from the twenty-sixth-dimensional beings, whose level was unknown. Even the Annihilargh—the device capable of destroying the entire universe and even the concept of time—ranked one level lower at only Level 19.
And Ben had gotten that watch when he was ten years old. It could be said without exaggeration that he had grown up surrounded by aliens and all manner of cosmic events. By now, he was thoroughly familiar with that sort of thing.
To be honest, the last time Kaguya herself had much to do with outer space had been long ago, back when she had still been the moon princess.
In her eyes, simply being able to move freely in space was already something incredible.
Even in all of Gensokyo, there were very few youkai who could do that.
In short, most of the chat group's current members had seen outer space before and had at least some understanding of what it entailed.
And the moment Roland started his stream, he hit them over the head with a blunt reminder.
They had assumed he was some cute little newbie who needed protection.
Who could have guessed he was actually a powerhouse wielding inconceivable might?
The differences between the group members had never been this obvious before. So how had a member suddenly appeared who was so absurdly far ahead of everyone else in raw power?
For a while, everyone was simply dumbstruck.
Well, except for one person who was relatively calm.
That's right—
Mark Grayson, [Invincible].
[Invincible]: Moving around in space isn't impossible. My dad can do that too. But he's never been this close to the sun.
[Invincible]: When he gets back, I'll have to ask him about it.
[Hero Time!]: Hah, well, good luck with that, man.
[Hero Time!]: But more than that, I really want to know what that zombie thing is. I'm seriously curious.
Inside the chat group's livestream, the others continued chatting.
And after reading Ben's message, the viewers finally shifted their attention to Zombie Sentry.
Why were there zombies in Roland's world?
And judging by the look of it, this zombie was no weakling either. It was even closer to the sun than Roland and yet its body remained perfectly unharmed. There was barely any distance left between it and the sun's surface…
Were the people in that world all this strong?
The others could not help but wonder.
Back in reality, Roland turned off the stream's third-person perspective and eased his thoughts back down to normal speed.
It was finally time for the real debut.
If he kept his mind running at super-speed, Zombie Sentry's flight toward the sun would seem as slow as a turtle crawl, like a movie playing in extreme slow motion. That was not what Roland wanted.
It was just that…
the instant Roland's thought speed returned to normal, Zombie Sentry reacted at once, his murky eyes glaring furiously at the man before him—a figure who looked very much like himself, yet subtly different.
Zombie Sentry opened his mouth, trying to roar.
But…
this was the vacuum of space. Sound did not carry here.
Zombie Sentry quickly realized that too. He gave up on the idea of growling threats, stretched his mouth open as wide as possible, bared his bloody maw, and lunged at Roland, trying to tear a bite out of him.
Just one bite.
That was all it would take.
With one bite, he could turn the person in front of him into one of his own.
Zombie Sentry's plan was simple—
and incredibly dangerous.
The people watching the stream all felt their hearts leap into their throats.
Ben had mentioned zombies before, and most of the others were familiar with the concept as well. They knew how terrifyingly infectious zombies could be. The purpose of a zombie-like creature lunging forward like that with its mouth wide open was painfully obvious.
They were all worried about what would happen to Roland.
Would he get bitten?
Would he turn into a zombie too?
A newcomer turning into a zombie right after joining would be far too dramatic.
But their fears were unnecessary.
Too slow. Far too slow.
Facing the charging Zombie Sentry, Roland merely shifted his body to the side, neatly avoiding the bite. Then he reached out with one hand and caught Zombie Sentry by the cape.
In the next instant, Roland became like an invisible top, spinning wildly through space!
He spun so fast that the group members could no longer track him with the naked eye. All they could see was a whirling vortex of black-red and gold twisting together.
At that unimaginable speed, Roland completed well over a million rotations in less than a second.
The viewers in the chat group felt dizzy just watching, as though they were about to see stars themselves. But Roland did not stop. Only after storing up enough kinetic energy did he adjust his angle and, like a gigantic pendulum, hurl Zombie Sentry straight into the sun.
Damn it! It can't end here! I'm the strongest zombie! There are still people all across the universe waiting for me to eat them!
But even so, Zombie Sentry recovered quickly enough. After being flung to the sun's surface, just as he was about to sink into it, the searing heat snapped him back to his senses. Summoning every ounce of strength in his body, he stretched out his arm and desperately tried to fly back out.
But this time, Roland gave him no chance.
Trying to run? Then let's try this instead.
Without the slightest hesitation, Roland raised a hand lightly and, across an enormous distance, created a patch of shadow on the sun's surface.
No! No! This isn't how it's supposed to be!
Get away from me! I'm supposed to feast to my heart's content!!
There are still so many people on Earth! They're all mine!
Zombie Sentry continued struggling, but from within that darkness, several thick black tendrils shot out, wrapped around him, and dragged him deeper into the sun.
A burst of fire scattered outward—
and then he was gone.
Perhaps it was the sensation of nearing death that awakened some kind of telepathic communication in Zombie Sentry, because Roland could vaguely sense the unwilling fury in his final howl. But once he vanished beneath the sun's surface, even that faded away.
That move left everyone staring in stunned silence again.
What kind of ability was that supposed to be?
Generating shadow-tentacles on the surface of the sun?
That power was absurdly overpowered.
He was no longer even operating on the same level as the others.
The scrolling messages in the livestream froze for several seconds.
But Roland paid no attention to them. He simply flew forward until he was hovering above the sun's surface, then gently placed a hand against it.
That sight almost scared the other group members senseless.
[Loves Taking Pictures]: Hey, hey, hey! Don't go looking for death!
[Princess of the Moon]: Even the surface of the sun cannot harm you? Just what kind of monster are you, newcomer…?
[Hero Time!]: [Multiversal Variant] really is insanely strong. How many of my alien forms can do something like that? I could probably count them on one hand. No, wait—more like two to four.
[Hero Time!]: Ultimate Way Big might be able to. I've never tested it. Alien X definitely could. Heatblast and Diamondhead maybe could too. But beyond that… probably not.
[Invincible]: As everyone knows, the sun's surface is around ten thousand degrees Fahrenheit. A normal person would have been vaporized already.
[Invincible]: Just how ridiculous is [Multiversal Variant]'s world, for it to produce someone like this?
Roland glanced at the scrolling comments and continued probing the interior of the sun.
…
Deep within the sun, inside a blazing furnace of million-degree heat—
before Zombie Sentry could even reach the solar core, the extreme temperatures had already roasted him until he began to melt.
At the very last moment of his life, he did not even have time to scream. But as his outer flesh split apart, the golden energy inside him burst forth uncontrollably.
That was, in the truest sense of the phrase,
the power of a million suns.
If that energy had fully detonated, it could have destroyed this lone star—the sun itself—in an instant.
And yet…
it was suppressed by some mysterious force.
The moment Zombie Sentry melted away, that vast power was forcibly restrained and smothered before it could erupt.
In the end, like a bubble bursting into nothingness, that nearly-nullified energy vanished together with Zombie Sentry's body into the sun's fifteen-million-degree Celsius core.
