Chapter 1 - chapter 1: awaking

Darkness.

Endless, silent darkness surrounded her, stretching as far as her mind could reach. For a moment, she could not tell whether she was asleep, dead, or simply lost somewhere between existence and nothingness.

Slowly, a faint sense of awareness began to return.

Her consciousness drifted upward like something rising from deep water. Thoughts appeared slowly, scattered and unclear. Her mind felt foggy, as if it had just woken from a long and exhausting sleep.

Where… am I?

The question formed weakly in her mind.

She tried to move, but her body refused to respond properly. Every part of her felt incredibly heavy, as if invisible chains were binding her to the bed beneath her. Even breathing felt strange and unfamiliar.

Her eyelids trembled slightly.

They felt unbearably heavy.

It took all her strength just to lift them a little. For several seconds, nothing happened except a faint twitch.

Her body felt cold.

Not the cold of winter wind or chilled air, but a strange weakness that spread slowly through her limbs. It felt as if the warmth of life had not fully returned to her body yet.

Her fingers felt numb.

Her arms felt weak.

Even her chest rose and fell slowly, as though her body was still learning how to breathe again.

Why… do I feel like this?

A faint memory surfaced in her mind.

The old man.

The strange place.

And his words.

"I will send you into another body."

The memory flashed through her mind like lightning in a dark sky.

Her thoughts slowly became clearer.

Didn't he say he would send me to another body?

Right now, however, everything felt wrong.

Instead of feeling like she had gained a new body, it felt more like she was lying at the edge of death. Weakness filled every part of her, and even opening her eyes felt like an impossible task.

Her eyelids trembled again.

This time, she forced them open.

Slowly.

Very slowly.

Light seeped into her vision.

At first, everything looked blurry, as if a thin layer of mist covered her eyes. Shapes and colors blended together without any clear form.

But gradually, her sight began to sharpen.

The first thing she noticed was the ceiling.

It was high—far higher than any ordinary room.

Soft golden patterns were carved along the edges, forming delicate designs that looked both elegant and expensive. A crystal chandelier hung in the center, its glass pieces reflecting faint light throughout the room.

Even though the lights were dim, the chandelier shimmered faintly, creating a calm and luxurious atmosphere.

Her gaze slowly drifted around the room.

The bed she was lying on was enormous.

Soft silk sheets covered her body, their texture smooth and cool against her skin. The mattress beneath her felt incredibly soft, as if it was designed to provide perfect comfort.

Even the pillows surrounding her looked luxurious, embroidered with delicate patterns.

She slowly shifted her eyes toward the rest of the room.

And what she saw made her momentarily forget the weakness in her body.

The room was huge.

Much larger than a normal bedroom.

Tall windows stretched along one wall, covered by elegant cream-colored curtains that gently touched the floor. Soft evening light filtered through them, casting a warm glow across the room.

A thick carpet covered the floor, its intricate designs woven with gold and pale pink threads.

Every piece of furniture looked expensive.

A polished wooden dresser stood near the wall, its surface perfectly smooth and shining. Beside it was a beautifully designed vanity table, with a large mirror framed in silver.

The mirror reflected the quiet elegance of the room.

Various cosmetics and small bottles were neatly arranged across the vanity table. Perfume bottles of different shapes sparkled faintly under the soft light.

The air itself carried a gentle fragrance.

A sweet scent, light and delicate.

It smelled like perfume—something soft and feminine.

The kind of scent usually found in a girl's bedroom.

Her eyes wandered slowly across the room again.

Clothes were folded neatly on a nearby chair. Soft fabrics, ribbons, and accessories were arranged carefully, almost too perfectly.

Everything looked clean.

Everything looked organized.

Everything looked expensive.

There was no doubt about it.

This place belonged to someone very rich.

A faint realization slowly formed in her mind.

So… this is a girl's room.

She lay there quietly, staring at the ceiling again.

Her body still felt incredibly weak.

Even lifting a finger seemed difficult. A strange coldness lingered in her limbs, making her feel as though her strength had not fully returned yet.

It felt as if this body had just awakened from a long illness.

Or perhaps…

From death itself.

A faint smile appeared on her lips.

Seems like that old man kept his promise.

She clearly remembered what she had told him before everything went dark.

If she had to start a new life…

Then she wanted to be reborn into the body of someone rich.

Looking at this luxurious room now, it seemed that wish had come true.

Maybe she should thank him.

Still, something felt strange.

Her eyes slowly scanned the room again.

It was too quiet.

The silence was almost unnatural.

There were no footsteps outside the door.

No voices in the hallway.

No sounds of people moving around in the house.

The entire place felt completely still.

Her mind slowly returned to another memory.

The old man's last words.

"I will send someone to help you."

Her brows knitted together slightly.

Where is it?

She expected something to appear by now.

Some kind of system.

Some kind of voice.

Some strange screen floating in front of her eyes.

But nothing happened.

The room remained silent.

Did he forget?

The thought made her frown faintly.

That old man seemed mysterious and powerful. It was hard to believe he would forget something so important.

Yet right now, there was no sign of the help he promised.

Her eyes drifted lazily toward the tall windows again.

The faint light outside suggested that it might be late afternoon or early evening.

The sky beyond the curtains glowed softly, painting the room with warm golden shades.

It looked peaceful.

Beautiful.

Almost dreamlike.

She lay there quietly, still too weak to move properly.

Her body felt cold and fragile, as if it needed time to adjust to this new life.

But despite that…

A small feeling of excitement slowly appeared in her heart.

So… he really sent me back to Earth.

A quiet smile slowly spread across her face.

If this truly was her new life…

Then perhaps things would become interesting.

Very interesting.

For now, however, she simply lay there in the soft bed, surrounded by the quiet luxury of the room.

Her body was still weak.

Still cold.

Still unfamiliar.

But her mind was slowly waking up.

And somewhere deep inside, a faint sense of curiosity had already begun to grow.

What kind of life awaited her in this new world?

She didn't know yet.

But one thing was certain.

This was only the beginning.
