Chapter 15 - The human furnace

The Frost Lord swept its massive hand. It merely stirred the air, but the breath entering my lungs felt like shards of jagged glass. The monster's mana was targeting the very fluid in my veins.

"Li-An! Dodge!"

Jia shouted, shoving me aside. But it was too late. An icy chill pierced my chest, and I felt my heartbeat slow down. It felt like the blood inside my vessels was congealing. I started losing sensation in my fingertips.

"Damn it... I can't move..."

I collapsed to the floor. My sword hit the ice with a metallic clang. Chen rushed over and pulled my upper body up. Terror was written all over her face.

"No, Li-An! Your blood is freezing. You idiot, wake up!"

Without hesitation, Chen ripped her shirt open. She pressed her bare skin against my freezing chest. Mei grabbed my arm from the other side, pulling me toward her body.

"Sister, inject your mana! I'll take the legs!"

Mei yanked at my pants, burrowing between my thighs. Every time their hot skin touched me, my frozen senses screamed back to life. But the Frost Lord didn't wait for us. It raised a massive ice hammer once more.

"I'll handle that thing. Save Li-An!"

Jia stepped forward, her golden scales standing stiff. She exploded with dragon mana, taking the hammer blow head-on. With a loud crash, droplets of blood sprayed from Jia's lips.

It was chaos. Chen licked my neck, forcibly pushing her mana into my heart. Mei bit various parts of my body, helping the circulation. Their sweat and tears dripped onto my skin.

"Li-An, don't die... please..."

Chen's voice trembled. The moment her hot tears touched my cheek, the 'Vessel' inside me surged again. My frozen blood began to boil. No, this wasn't just recovery. Their manas were merging in my heart and exploding.

I gripped Chen's waist tight. My strength was back. A strength stronger and hotter than ever before.

"I'm fine. Now, let's kill this bastard."

I picked up my sword from the floor. Steam was now rising steadily from my body. The Frost Lord, who had been pushing Jia back, flinched as it looked at me. It wouldn't understand. How a human body could radiate this much heat.

I stood up, supported by the girls. Behind me, the three predators held me steady.
