"Woe to my enemies, woe to those who pose as friends"---

---------------------------

Year of 2026

Dr Zacharia Genrus , Cambridge University

"When you have a man that craves power behind you or beside you whichever. He will always look for the opportunity to remove you . Power is not for those that are kind. Colonel Arif wasn't kind in a sense , but he sure wasn't smart. He knew that some around him were not to be trusted, yet he went ahead and trusted the one person he should have never had, and this major mistake would be the beginning of his end"

—— —— ——

With Qasim removed and the Iraqi nation quelled, feeding the communist to the lions who tore them apart played a big role in calming them down. Political take over came without many objections , and those who did object were marked to be under surveillance. And through Arif's rise, so too did soldat rise , the young man not even 25 had been promoted as the Minister of Interior at the complaints of many, and even though opposed soldat had gone ahead to create a Law Enforcement Agency with the permission of colonel Arif now President. The Iraqi Security Bureau or (ISB).

Soldat had effectively drawn out his best men and even some of Arif's talented who the man unfortunately overlooked.

The ISB had been divided in sub groups with each Commander controlling his own group . These groups were Enforcement, Internal Affairs & Security, Intelligence & Surveillance and Special Operations.

Soldat had highlighted to Arif that going forward all obstacles needed to be surveyed and removed later on in order to prevent the same thing that happed to their predecessors to happen to them , especially with how divided the government was.

Dr Nathan Simbal , Harvard University

"The man was a liar! He was a good one at that , the best they said . If I could remember correctly there was a joke that said, that Soldat could convince you to sell your mother, your entire family and yourself for nothing in return , funny how the joke wasn't a joke . They weren't wrong … it was a unnatural ability. When he spoke people stopped and they listened! He understood how people minds worked, he understood how the nation worked , he understood how the countries around him worked and thus he took advantage. Whatever you understand you will try to manipulate at some point to your benefit and Soldat did just that. He tricked the west, he tricked the east all for the betterment of his nation and of course himself. He was a Capitalist !! And many would argue where his political direction lie, some say socialist, Fascist and marxist. But it was plain as day and he never hid it . The people of Iraq , the clergy , the government all were occupied with the great rise in prosperity and wealth that they experienced and gained , and cared less of what the man was"

"Each one of you were chosen because you are the best at what you do . The greatest in your fields and I expect you all to carry out your tasks with the best of your abilities. The people of this country are in unrest . The government is corrupt and inept. Foreign institutions have found their way into our society watching and waiting to do us harm at the best of times to benefit themselves . Now it is all up to us to make a change you the directors of the ISB." He stated as he came to a stop at his seat.

"Now gentlemen, Let's get to work"

Ministry of Interior Main Administrative Building

"Are you fond of riddles Ali Salih?" The young man asked as he gazed through the windows with his back turned.

Ali Salih al - sa'di as he was named is the General Secretary of the Iraqi Branch of the Baath Party (damn who ever named the bastard ) Originally he would be the minister of Interior the current position Soldat held.

The addressed man looked on curiously, not the first time meeting the young Hussein as he was acquainted with him a many times as he was a fellow Baathist and he was also well known throughout the political arena and soldat being the minister of interior and one of the Baathist representatives besides himself with positions of power within the government.

"Four men are in a room, a king , a priest and a rich man . Between the great men stands a soldier. Each great man bids the soldier to kill the other two . Who lives. Who dies?" Soldat now turns to finish.

"Depends on the soldier I suppose ". Ali Salih replies

"Does it?He has neither titles nor money , nor favor with Allah" Soldat debates.

"He has a gun, the power of life and death is in his hands its up to him to make a decision." Ali Salih rebuffed.

"But, if its soldiers who rule why do we pretend kings, ministers and chancellors hold the power?" Soldat threw the philosophical question at him.

The man seemed slightly irritated but he remained silent thinking on the young man's words.

"Power resides where men believe it resides. And in your case you think you have power over me. Is it because of my age , do you think me inexperienced or do you think that you have me in a political choke hold and you my superior because we are of the same party , and you being its head means I am your servant." Soldat finished

Ali Salih's face contorted into pure rage as he prepared to bash the young minister for his insolence but Soldat threw pictures on the table. Pictures of him and a prostitute by the looks of it . Pictures of him and his wife , pictures of his daughter and son.

"Where did you get these!" He asked in shock

"It matters not where or when nor how. Just know that I have them and know this Ali Salih if you do not cooperate when I need you to then count your political days and the living ones with you and your family null. And best believe that I make on all my promises" He threatened the man who was too flabbergasted to reply.

To be honest with the current political direction of the government although Arif was president more power was held by the Baathist. Baathist Prime minister Ahmed Hassan al bakr. After a falling out with the Abdel Nasser Prime Minister of Egypt in July the Baathist of Iraq removed all non-Baathist members from the cabinet despite Arif's support for Nasser. Soldat seeing the hole Arif was digging for himself helped him dig it while preparing to step aside when it was time for the man to fall in.

Soldat knew in his mind that a Pan Arabic Union would not work out . Not to the degree that the opportunistic fools that promoted it thought it would. Iraq wasn't ready for such endeavors . Instead Iraq's main focus should be in further developing its main industry, Increasing oil production and updating old oil production plants and drills. In such ventures the money from this would fund the economy into a large growth that Qasim had previously started.
