Chapter 15 - The Honeymoon

They chose Switzerland.

Kai wanted to show her where he'd spent those lonely boarding school years—to transform the painful memories into something beautiful. Lina agreed immediately.

"Let's make new memories," she said. "Better ones."

The flight was long, but they spent it tangled together, still giddy from the wedding. Lina traced patterns on Kai's palm while he slept. He woke to find her watching him.

"How long was I out?"

"Couple hours." She smiled. "You looked peaceful."

"With you, I always am."

Switzerland was everything they'd imagined.

Snow-capped mountains, crystal lakes, villages straight out of fairy tales. They stayed in a small inn run by a elderly couple who treated them like family.

The first day, Kai took her to the boarding school.

It stood on a hill outside town—imposing stone buildings, iron gates, perfectly manicured grounds. Lina felt cold just looking at it.

"This is where you were," she said quietly.

Kai nodded. "Three years. Longest three years of my life."

They walked the grounds together. He showed her the dormitory window where he'd watched the stars and dreamed of her. The practice room where he'd secretly composed music on a forbidden keyboard. The spot behind the gym where he'd cried alone more times than he could count.

Lina held his hand through all of it.

"Thank you for bringing me here," she said when they finally left. "For sharing this."

"Thank you for coming. For seeing it and not running away."

"Kai." She stopped walking, turning to face him. "Every part of your past led you to me. The good and the bad. I wouldn't change any of it."

He kissed her there, on the road leading away from the school, the past finally losing its power over him.

The rest of the honeymoon was pure magic.

They hiked mountains, ate cheese and chocolate, made love in their cozy inn room. They talked about the future—children, careers, the life they'd build together.

"I want a house by the sea," Lina said one night, wrapped in blankets on their balcony. "Somewhere quiet. With a room for you to compose and a room for me to write."

Kai smiled. "And a garden. For the kids to play."

"Kids?" Lina raised an eyebrow. "We're talking about kids now?"

"Eventually. If you want them."

She considered. "I think I do. With you."

"Then we'll have them. Someday. When we're ready."

They fell asleep under the stars, dreaming of a future full of possibility.

The last night, Kai surprised her.

He'd arranged for a private dinner in a small chapel—just the two of them, candles everywhere, a pianist playing in the corner.

"This is incredible," Lina breathed. "How did you—"

"I have my ways." He smiled mysteriously. "Also, money. Money helps."

She laughed. "Romantic and practical."

"I try."

After dinner, they danced in the candlelight, no music except what the pianist played. Lina rested her head on Kai's chest, feeling his heartbeat.

"I don't want this to end," she whispered.

"It doesn't have to. Not really." He held her tighter. "We'll have more trips. More adventures. This is just the beginning."

"The beginning of forever."

"The beginning of forever."
