Chapter 1 - Chapter One - ABO

People like to believe the world is complicated.

Politics, money, power, reputation-everyone thinks those things decide who stands above the rest. But in truth, the world is much simpler than that.

Everything comes down to bloodline.

From the moment a person is born, their future is already partially decided by the nature of their biology. It determines how society sees them, how others react to them, and sometimes even the path their life will follow.

In this world, there are three main bloodlines.

Alpha.

Beta.

Omega.

Everyone grows up learning about them as if they were basic laws of nature.

Just like gravity.

Just like the sun rising in the east.

And like every child born into this system, I learned my place early.

I am an Alpha.

Not just any Alpha.

A dominant Alpha.

People say Alphas are born leaders. Our instincts are sharper, our presence stronger. Even our pheromones carry authority that others can sense without realizing it.

Walk into a room full of people, and you'll notice it immediately.

Some people instinctively move aside.

Others lower their voices.

The atmosphere shifts.

That's the influence of an Alpha.

But what most people don't know is that not all Alphas are the same.

Even within our bloodline, there are levels.

Three classifications.

Low-Class Alpha.

Middle-Class Alpha.

S-Class Alpha.

Same as omega classifications.

Most people never talk about it openly, but every Alpha knows the difference the moment they encounter another one.

Low-Class Alphas are the weakest among us. Their pheromones are present, but not particularly overwhelming. In many cases, Betas aren't even strongly affected by them. Low-Class Alphas can live normal lives without attracting too much attention.

They still carry Alpha instincts, but their dominance is limited.

Then there are the Middle-Class Alphas.

These are the ones people usually think about when they hear the word Alpha. Their pheromones are strong enough to command attention and influence those around them. When they enter a room, Omegas can immediately sense their presence.

Middle-Class Alphas often rise into positions of authority-managers, directors, politicians, officers.

They carry power.

But not the kind that overwhelms an entire space.

And finally-

The rarest type.

S-Class Alphas.

Some people call them Superior Alphas.

Others simply call them monsters.

S-Class Alphas possess pheromones so powerful that weaker Alphas can feel pressured just by standing nearby. Their presence alone can suppress other instincts. Even Betas can feel the tension in the air when an S-Class Alpha loses control.

In simple terms-

They dominate the hierarchy.

Only a small percentage of the population is born as S-Class Alphas.

And according to every medical test I've ever taken...

I'm one of them.

I never thought much about it.

Being an S-Class Alpha just meant that people watched me more closely. It meant that reporters talked about me more than others in the industry. It meant that when I walked onto a set, everyone seemed a little more careful with their words.

Some people admire it.

Others fear it.

Personally, I don't see it as anything special.

It's simply how I was born.

After Alphas, there are the Betas.

Betas are the most common bloodline in the world. Nearly sixty percent of the population falls into this category.

Unlike Alphas, Betas don't produce dominant pheromones.

Unlike Omegas, they aren't affected by instinct cycles.

They exist in the middle of the system-stable, balanced, unaffected by the biological extremes that control Alpha and Omega behavior.

Because of that, Betas often live the most peaceful lives.

No heat cycles.

No rut.

No instincts suddenly taking control.

Sometimes I wonder if Betas are the lucky ones.

They don't have to fight their own nature the way Alphas and Omegas do.

And then there are the Omegas.

Rare.

Sensitive.

And dangerously influential.

Omegas possess pheromones that are completely different from those of Alphas. While Alpha pheromones project dominance, Omega pheromones attract.

Sweet.

Soft.

Sometimes intoxicating.

When an Omega enters heat, their scent intensifies dramatically. During that period, their pheromones can affect nearby Alphas almost instantly.

It's biological.

Instinctive.

Unavoidable.

Because of that, Omegas are often treated very carefully in society.

Some powerful families protect them fiercely.

Others keep them hidden.

In some places, Omegas are even restricted from certain careers because their heat cycles could cause complications in public environments.

The system isn't perfect.

But it's the system we've lived with for generations.

Alpha.

Beta.

Omega.

Three bloodlines.

Three roles in the balance of society.

Everyone accepts it.

Everyone believes that this is the natural order of the world.

But every now and then...

Someone mentions something different.

A rumor.

A legend.

A biological anomaly that doesn't belong anywhere within the ABO system.

They call it Enigma.

The first time I heard about it was during a casual conversation years ago.

Someone had been discussing unusual pheromone mutations found in old medical research.

One of the researchers mentioned it almost jokingly.

"A fourth bloodline."

I remember raising an eyebrow at the time.

"A rare type bloodlien other than alpha?"

He nodded, looking strangely serious.

"They're called Enigmas."

According to the story, Enigmas don't behave like Alphas, Betas, or Omegas.

Their pheromones don't follow the same biological rules.

Some records claim their scent can disrupt the instincts of everyone nearby.

Others say their pheromones can influence Alphas directly.

Which, if you understand how the ABO system works, is completely absurd.

Alphas dominate.

We aren't easily influenced.

Especially not by unknown bloodlines.

Yet some of those ancient records suggested something even more ridiculous.

They claimed that an Enigma's presence could drive powerful Alphas into complete loss of control.

"Sounds like a fantasy novel," I said. "Ridiculos."

Because honestly, that's what it sounded like.

No confirmed case had ever been recorded.

No medical institution had ever documented an Enigma.

Every piece of information about them came from incomplete research papers or centuries-old biological speculation.

In other words-

Nothing reliable.

So I dismissed it.

Like any rational person would.

There are only three bloodlines in this world.

Alpha.

Beta.

Omega.

Anything else is just imagination.

At least...

That's what I believed.

I snapped back from my thoughts when I heard my assistant's voice from the door of my office. Min walked in while holding an iPad in one hand. As usual, he adjusted his glasses before speaking, a habit he had whenever he was about to report something important. He closed the door behind him and walked toward my desk with his usual calm and professional expression.

"Boss, your result is here," he said as he stopped in front of my desk.

I leaned back in my chair and looked at him, then gestured with my hand for him to continue. I already knew what he was talking about. The medical test I had done earlier that morning. For the past few years, it had become routine for me to receive reports like this from Doctor Arun. Still, every time Min came to deliver the results, there was always a small part of me that wondered if this time the answer would finally be different.

Min glanced at the screen of the iPad and began reading the report. "Doctor Arun sent the results from the gland examination," he said while scrolling through the information. "Your result is the same. Everything is normal. There's nothing wrong with your gland."

I stared at him silently for a moment. The answer was exactly what I expected, yet hearing it again still felt irritating. Normal. That word had been repeated in almost every report for the past five years.

Min continued reading. "The gland structure is stable, there's no damage, no mutation, and the hormone levels are within the normal Alpha range. According to the scan, your gland is functioning exactly as it should."

I leaned back further into the chair and folded my arms. If someone listened only to that part of the report, they would think everything was perfectly fine. A normal gland meant a healthy Alpha. That was the simple explanation most people believed. Unfortunately, my situation was not that simple.

Min adjusted his glasses again before continuing. "However, the abnormality in your pheromones is still there," he said while reading the rest of the report. "Doctor Arun still can't figure out why your pheromone control becomes unstable sometimes."

I looked away toward the large window behind him. The evening sky was slowly turning darker, and the city lights were starting to appear across the buildings outside. From the top floor of K-P Company's headquarters, the city looked calm and distant, but my mind was anything but calm.

"So the result is still the same," I said after a moment.

"Yes, boss," Min replied. "There's no physical problem with the gland itself, but the pheromone activity is still abnormal."

That part was the real problem. As an Alpha, controlling pheromones was instinctive. It was something that every Alpha learned naturally as they matured. Losing control of them without any clear reason was something that simply shouldn't happen.

Min scrolled further down the report and continued explaining. "Doctor Arun said that your pheromone output spikes unexpectedly. There are moments when the level suddenly increases even though there's no emotional or environmental trigger."

I already knew what he meant. There were times when I could feel it myself. A strange pressure near my gland, followed by a faint release of pheromones that I didn't consciously control. Sometimes it was weak and barely noticeable, but other times it was strong enough that the people around me reacted to it.

"Did he say what might be causing it?" I asked.

Min shook his head slightly. "No. That's still the problem. He said the gland itself is completely healthy, but the pheromone regulation doesn't behave the way it should."

I sighed quietly and rested my elbow on the arm of the chair. Five years had already passed since this problem first appeared, and yet there was still no clear explanation for it. Arun was one of the best doctors I knew when it came to studying gland biology and pheromone behavior, but even he couldn't find the answer.

Min continued reading the report. "Doctor Arun also mentioned that the instability might increase in the future if the cause remains unknown."

I looked at him again. "Increase?"

"Yes," Min replied calmly. "He's worried that the pheromone spikes might become stronger over time."

That was not something I wanted to hear. As an S-Class Alpha, my pheromones were naturally stronger than most people's. If they started to surge uncontrollably, it wouldn't just be inconvenient. It could become a serious problem for the people around me.

"Does he have any idea what's triggering it?" I asked.

Min shook his head again. "No, boss. He said there's no clear trigger. It doesn't seem to be related to stress, anger, or any other normal Alpha instinct."

I leaned back in my chair again and stared at the ceiling for a moment. Every time the report came back, the answer was always the same. The gland was normal. The pheromones were unstable. And no one knew why.

"Doctor Arun wants to continue the research," Min added. "He said more tests might help identify the cause."

I let out a quiet breath. More tests. That was also something I had heard many times before. Blood tests, hormone analysis, pheromone scans, gland imaging. I had already done almost every examination possible, yet the results always led back to the same conclusion.

"Send me the full report later," I told him.

"Yes, boss," Min replied while typing something on the iPad.

After a few seconds he looked up again. "Other than the pheromone instability, there's nothing unusual in the report."

I nodded slowly. "That's exactly what the last report said too."

Min didn't argue with that. He simply stood there quietly, holding the tablet.

For a moment the office became silent again. Outside the window, the city lights continued to brighten as night fully settled over the skyline.

"Tell Arun to keep looking into it," I said finally.

Min nodded. "Understood."

He turned toward the door, but before leaving he paused slightly.

"Boss, if there's any new development, he'll contact us immediately."

"I know," I replied.

Min left the office and quietly closed the door behind him.

After he was gone, I sat alone in the room for a few seconds. My hand slowly moved to the back of my neck where the gland was located. According to the report, there was nothing wrong with it. Everything about it was normal.

And yet something about it clearly wasn't.

It's like there's something I forgot but I can't figure out what is it. I breathe heavily.

I heard the door open and I saw Min.

"Boss, I almost forgot Mr. Manit Phumirat is found he'll be in the black market at 10pm." He said.

I nodded and smirked. Finally that bastard was found.
