After this small prologue of my first novel, I propose an introduction to my way of writing so that it is as simple as possible to understand.
First of all, I will try to write my book between the third person and the first person. My goal will be to write according to the character that I am following; the narration will be in the third person and not in the first, but the point of view you will have will be as close as possible to the first person.
For example, I will write:
"No!!" she shouted.
Rather than:
"No!!" I shouted.
Thus, although the narration is in the third person, what you will read will feel like the first person; I will not write what the character does not see or does not understand.
If the character does not pay attention to another character's appearance, then I will not pay attention to it either; if the character forgets another character's name and calls them something other than their name, then I will do the same in the narration...
There will be explanatory passages for world building, lore, and the power system, but I will try to make as few of them as possible through narration; most explanations will be made through conversations between characters or through thoughts, by inner or outer monologue...
Next, the punctuation:
"..." : will be used for spoken dialogue.
'...' : will be used for inner thoughts, or internal conversations, inaudible speech...
When a word is written in italics, it will be left open to personal interpretation; the meaning of that word will not necessarily be the one you think of and the word will likely have several meanings in the apparent situation...
When a sentence is entirely written in italics, it will be because there is something important to remember from that sentence regarding the plot or the lore of the novel.
I will try not to make mistakes and to constantly write with these rules in mind. If the rules change, it will be explained at the end of the chapter where the change is made...
For reference, I'm a French author and I write in French. The chapters are therefore translated using AI, which I then review at least twice before publishing. I want to clarify that I do not use AI to write my book itself, but only for the translation, which I try to keep as faithful as possible to what I actually wrote.
