Chapter 11 - ELEVEN_THE FIRST MOVE

The city was quieter than usual that night.

The news had already spread.

Strange explosions.

A ruined building.

Police officers found unconscious with no clear explanation.

But none of that mattered to Elena at the moment.

She sat silently in the back seat of the black car Azrael had summoned. The vehicle moved smoothly through the dark streets as rain slowly began to fall outside.

Her hands rested on her lap.

They were still shaking.

Everything that had happened in the last few hours felt unreal.

The demon contract.

The police chase.

The battle.

The gate to Hell.

And now…

Revenge.

Elena stared at her reflection in the window.

She barely recognized herself.

Just yesterday she had been a bride preparing for her wedding.

Now she was a fugitive bound to a Demon Lord.

"Thinking too much?"

Azrael's voice broke the silence.

He sat beside her, one arm resting lazily against the seat. His crimson eyes were watching her carefully.

Elena sighed softly.

"I just keep wondering…"

"About what?"

"What my life would look like right now if Adrian hadn't betrayed me."

Azrael said nothing.

Rain tapped gently against the car windows.

Elena continued quietly.

"I trusted him."

Her fingers slowly curled into fists.

"I loved him."

Her voice trembled slightly, but she forced herself to continue.

"And he destroyed everything."

The memory of that wedding day replayed in her mind like a nightmare.

The music.

The guests.

The shocked whispers when Adrian suddenly turned away from her.

The moment Lily appeared in the bridal dress.

The accusations.

The police.

The humiliation.

Elena closed her eyes.

"I looked like a criminal in front of everyone."

Azrael watched her silently.

Then he spoke.

"Humans betray each other often."

"That doesn't make it hurt less."

"No."

His voice was calm.

"But it does make revenge more satisfying."

Elena slowly turned to look at him.

"You really think I can do it?"

"Of course."

His eyes glowed faintly in the dim light of the car.

"You have something most humans lack."

"What?"

Azrael leaned slightly closer.

"Anger."

The word hung in the air between them.

Elena looked down at her hands again.

She hated how true that sounded.

But she couldn't deny it.

Her heart was full of anger now.

Anger toward Adrian.

Toward Lily.

Toward everyone who believed their lies.

"I want the truth to come out," she said quietly.

"It will."

"But how?"

Azrael's lips curved into a small smile.

"We begin by destroying their peace."

Elena blinked.

"What does that mean?"

Instead of answering, Azrael looked toward the front of the car.

"Stop here."

The car slowly came to a halt.

Elena looked outside.

Her eyes widened slightly.

"That's… Whitmore Tower."

The massive glass skyscraper stood proudly in the center of the city.

Adrian Whitmore's company headquarters.

Even at night, many floors were still lit with activity.

Azrael stepped out of the car.

Elena followed him quickly.

Cold night air brushed against her face as she stared up at the towering building.

"You want to attack it?" she asked nervously.

Azrael chuckled.

"No."

"Then why are we here?"

He slipped his hands into his coat pockets.

"Because revenge is not about destruction."

Elena frowned.

"It's about control."

High above them, Adrian Whitmore stood in his office.

He stared at the city lights below with a restless expression.

Something felt wrong tonight.

He couldn't explain it.

But a strange unease had been following him since the evening.

Behind him, Lily entered the office quietly.

"You're still awake?"

Adrian didn't turn around.

"I couldn't sleep."

Lily walked closer.

"You're thinking about her again."

Adrian's jaw tightened.

"Elena is a criminal now."

"That's what the police say."

"But you're not convinced."

Adrian finally turned around.

Lily's eyes studied him carefully.

"You saw the evidence," she continued softly.

"Everything pointed to her."

Adrian rubbed his forehead.

"I know."

But something still didn't feel right.

Suddenly—

The lights in the office flickered.

Both of them froze.

"What was that?" Lily asked.

Before Adrian could answer—

Every screen in the office suddenly turned on at the same time.

The large television on the wall.

The computer monitors.

Even Adrian's tablet on the desk.

All of them displayed the same thing.

A single message.

WELCOME BACK, ADRIAN.

Lily's eyes widened.

"What is this?!"

Adrian stepped closer to the screens.

Then the message changed.

The words slowly rearranged themselves.

DID YOU MISS HER?

Adrian felt his chest tighten.

"What kind of prank is this?"

But the screen changed again.

This time, a photo appeared.

Elena.

Her face from the day of the wedding.

Her expression filled with shock and betrayal.

Lily gasped.

"This isn't funny!"

Then the message appeared beneath the photo.

THE TRUTH WILL COME OUT.

Adrian's heart began pounding.

"Elena…"

The screens suddenly went black.

Silence filled the office.

Then—

A quiet laugh echoed from the shadows.

Adrian and Lily both turned toward the dark corner of the room.

A tall figure slowly stepped forward.

Black wings folded behind his back.

Golden eyes glowing softly.

Lily grabbed Adrian's arm in fear.

"W-who are you?!"

The demon smiled politely.

"My name is Valtheris."

His gaze rested calmly on Adrian.

"And I'm here to deliver a message."

Adrian forced himself to stay calm.

"What message?"

Valtheris' smile widened.

"The woman you betrayed…"

His golden eyes gleamed.

"…has begun her revenge."

Adrian's blood ran cold.

Down on the street below, Elena stared up at the tall building.

"Did something just happen?" she asked.

Azrael looked satisfied.

"Oh yes."

"What did you do?"

"Nothing too dramatic."

He glanced up at the building's highest floor.

"Just a small reminder."

Elena felt nervous.

"A reminder of what?"

Azrael looked at her.

His crimson eyes glowing faintly in the night.

"That you are no longer powerless."

Far above them—

Adrian suddenly rushed to the window.

His eyes scanned the streets below.

Then he saw them.

Two figures standing across the street.

A man with black wings.

And a woman beside him.

Even from this distance…

He recognized her immediately.

"Elena."

His voice was barely a whisper.

Beside him, Lily looked down as well.

And when she saw Elena standing alive outside the building—

Her face turned pale.

Elena slowly looked up.

Her eyes met Adrian's across the distance.

For a long moment, neither of them moved.

Then—

Elena smiled.

Not the gentle smile she once gave him.

But a cold one.

A promise.

Adrian felt a chill run through his entire body.

Behind Elena, Azrael spoke quietly.

"This is only the beginning."

And far above them, hidden in the dark clouds—

A pair of golden eyes watched everything.

The angel from earlier.

Their voice echoed softly in the night.

"The Devil's Mark grows stronger…"

Their grip tightened on the glowing spear.

"And soon…"

Their gaze locked onto Elena.

"…the entire world will hunt her."
