Chapter 12 -  Breaking the Deadlock

Under the gaze of billions across the world, the colossal body of the monster Gesura rose fully from the raging sea.

The infrasonic waves had completely enraged it. Its bloodshot eyes locked onto the steel fleet scattered across the ocean surface like toys.

On the bridge of the EUC flagship Leviathan, Mark Reyes' face was as cold as ice.

Everything unfolding before him had been anticipated.

"'Siren's Net' energy output stable. Target locked inside the containment perimeter."

"All combat units—open fire. Prioritize its dorsal fins and oral cavity."

The command was issued.

The massive net prepared for both monster and giant bared its fangs.

The Thunder orbital rail cannon, positioned behind the fleet, fired first.

A brilliant blue beam tore through the dark sky.

Moving faster than the eye could follow, it struck Gesura's right dorsal fin with perfect precision.

A piercing explosion rang out.

The tough purple fin—capable of withstanding missile bombardment—was blasted open with a massive crater.

Dark green blood poured out like a waterfall, staining the surrounding sea.

Gesura let out a scream of pure agony.

This strike from humanity hurt far more than the giant's throw in London.

Then the fleet's saturation attack began.

Electromagnetic shells streaked across the sky, bursting into sparks against its body.

"Sea Serpent" high-explosive torpedoes launched underwater slammed into its abdomen, sending towering waves into the air.

"Direct hits confirmed!"

Cheers erupted across the bridge.

But the celebration was short-lived.

The unbearable pain did not drive Gesura away.

Instead, it awakened the beast's primal fury.

The monster ignored the smaller warships.

Its enormous, hate-filled eyes locked onto the fleet's largest vessel—

Leviathan.

Gesura dove beneath the surface.

Its immense body surged forward underwater at terrifying speed.

"Thunder cannon cooling cycle—sixty seconds remaining!" an engineer shouted.

"Intercept with conventional weapons!" Mark roared.

"Do not let it close the distance!"

But it was already too late.

Gesura's underwater speed exceeded all predictions.

It easily avoided most incoming torpedoes.

Electromagnetic shells detonated against its hardened skull without slowing it down.

Then—

Five hundred meters from the flagship—

It burst from the water.

The mountain-sized head slammed into the Leviathan's bow with unstoppable force.

"BOOM!"

The five-hundred-meter-long warship—one of the largest vessels ever built—shuddered violently.

Inside the bridge, people were thrown off their feet.

Alarms screamed.

Metal groaned under unimaginable stress.

"Bow armor integrity down thirty percent!"

"Propulsion system damaged!"

And it wasn't over.

Driven into madness, Gesura rammed the Leviathan again and again with its head and body.

Each collision sent tremors through the massive vessel.

Under the relentless assault, the Leviathan slowly began to tilt.

"It's over…" a young crewman whispered, collapsing in despair.

Mark Reyes gripped the command console to steady himself.

For the first time, defeat appeared in his eyes.

His carefully constructed chessboard—

His proud Siren's Net—

Was about to be torn apart by brute force.

Then suddenly—

Ellie Solen's scientific console erupted with a high-level energy alert.

"Detecting high-dimensional energy fluctuations!"

"Location—port side of the flagship!"

Mark snapped his head toward the window.

The air above the ocean rippled like disturbed water.

A second later—

A column of silver-white light burst upward less than one hundred meters from the Leviathan.

A massive red-and-silver figure appeared.

With both arms extended, the giant caught the leaning warship—

Holding the Leviathan upright at the very moment it was about to capsize.

"My God…"

Everyone on the bridge fell silent.

Through the windows they saw it clearly—

A gigantic red-and-silver hand supporting their entire world.

Shen Yong slowly stabilized the warship before releasing it.

Then he turned.

Facing Gesura.

This time there was no hesitation in his eyes.

Only cold battle intent.

Gesura roared and lunged forward.

Shen Yong didn't dodge.

Instead, he applied the grappling techniques he had practiced relentlessly in recent days.

As the monster charged, Shen Yong shifted his weight and redirected the force.

With a perfect motion, he guided Gesura sideways.

His other arm locked around the monster's neck.

Using all his strength, he hurled the beast directly toward the Siren's Net.

"ZZZZZZT—!"

The monster's massive body slammed into the high-energy particle barrier.

Blinding lightning exploded outward.

Gesura shrieked in agony.

On the Leviathan's bridge, Mark Reyes stared in disbelief.

He finally understood.

The giant hadn't come to fall into the trap.

He had come to use it.

Shen Yong gave Gesura no chance to recover.

He rushed forward, grabbed the monster's tail, and lifted its massive body.

Again.

And again.

He smashed the beast into the surrounding energy grid.

Each impact made the particle net hum violently.

Each impact weakened Gesura further.

On Ellie Solen's console, data streams exploded across the display.

"He's using the energy grid to drain the monster's stamina!"

"He's turning our cage… into his weapon!"

Her voice trembled with amazement.

At the same time, she quietly activated the highest-precision energy spectrum analyzer.

Every fragment of the giant's energy signature was recorded.

These readings might become the key to unlocking everything.

Under Shen Yong's relentless assault, Gesura began to weaken.

Its movements slowed.

Its resistance faded.

Finally, Shen Yong seized the moment.

He pinned the monster against the particle barrier.

Powerful electrical currents surged through Gesura's body.

The creature convulsed violently.

But it could no longer fight.

Now.

Shen Yong stepped forward.

His massive hands grabbed the largest dorsal fin on Gesura's back—the one previously damaged by the orbital cannon.

He planted his feet firmly.

Every muscle in his body tensed to the limit.

"RAAAAH!"

With a roar that seemed to echo from ancient ages—

Before the eyes of the entire world—

Shen Yong ripped the massive dorsal fin from Gesura's back.

Green blood erupted like a volcanic explosion.

Gesura screamed one final, desperate cry.

Its enormous body twitched.

Then fell lifeless.

Slowly sinking beneath the sea.

Its remains dissolved into bubbles.

The battle was over.

Shen Yong stood in the center of the ruined Siren's Net.

The sea reached his knees.

He didn't leave immediately.

Instead, he turned slowly.

Across the distance, he looked toward the Leviathan's bridge.

Toward the man in the black military uniform—

Mark Reyes.

He said nothing.

He simply stared.

The silent gaze carried more pressure than any words.

Mark clenched his fists.

His nails dug into his palms.

Beside him, an officer whispered nervously.

"Sir… shall we… open fire?"

Mark said nothing.

He continued staring at the solitary red-and-silver giant standing in the ocean.

At those bright eyes that seemed capable of seeing through everything.

Finally—

Slowly—

He shook his head.

At that moment, the giant made a small movement.

Facing the flagship—

He nodded.

The gesture stunned everyone on the bridge.

Ellie Solen whispered softly:

"He's responding to us."

"He saw the trap… and he still chose to protect us."

The next moment—

Shen Yong's body dissolved into countless points of light.

And vanished.

Ellie looked down at her console.

The complete teleportation energy spectrum had been recorded.

A priceless set of data.

She exhaled quietly.

This secret—

For now—

Would remain hers alone.

Silence filled the bridge.

Only Mark Reyes remained motionless.

His face showed a complicated mixture of defeat, anger—

And a faint, unspoken trace of respect.

The chessboard he had so carefully prepared—

Had been overturned in a way he had never imagined.
