Chapter 16 - Big leagues

I was in the student council room, reading a few books.

Sona was dealing with paperwork: "I'm glad you're working well with my peerage. Tsubaki and Saji speak highly of you. Besides that, I think it would be good to talk with Meguri, Hanakai, Kusaka, and Yura, too."

"If you think make me get closer to your peerage will make me bond with you, you're thinking correctly," I said.

Sona looked surprised and giggled: "Sometimes you can be like a comedian. Ahem, besides that, I heard you're hanging out with the perverted trio. Is there a reason for that?"

"Even though they're men of culture, those guys don't think about anything besides boobs. I'm not even sure how they made it this far in school… If they stopped that and took better care of themselves, they'd have a high chance of losing their virginity."

Sona adjusted her glasses: "So does that mean you've already lost yours? Maybe you lost it back in Italy."

"What? No… But if I did lose it, I have to choose to lose my virginity to a kind MILF who'd worry about me," I said.

Sona was judging me with her eyes: "Is that why you rejected marriage even though you beat me at chess?"

I stayed silent because I needed to think about how to answer.

"Not really. There were a few people on my mind, but most of them are married or wouldn't be interested…" I said and lowered my head.

Sona: "Ah, now I'm curious who this lucky girl is."

"Venelana Gremory… Even if not her, maybe Runeas…"

Sona stood up in shock: "I could understand Rias, but her mother?! If Rias heard this, she would attack you!"

"I'm ready to fight for my woman!"

"She's married!"

"Do you stop scoring goals just because there's a goalkeeper in the net?!"

"She has a child!"

"I can be a good father!"

Sona couldn't take it anymore and sat back down: "…Are you insane?"

I smiled: "I just like playing in the big leagues."

"Don't tell me you're thinking about my sister too… I saw you following her on Devil Net."

I slowly left the room.

I could hear Sona yelling after me.

She wanted an answer, but she wasn't getting one from me.

I mean, if Rias heard this now, I don't know what she'd think.

Actually, right now I kind of want to troll Rias.

Ahem, I've seen Akeno from the Occult Research Club from afar, but I've never approached her.

She knows me, and that's enough.

I prefer to minimize my relations with the Occult Research Club, but Rias keeps assigning me missions and offers more money and grimoires than I can refuse.

Amid all these thoughts, the system screen appeared.

[Quest: Save Issei from being killed by Raynare]

[Reward: Devil Bringer activation]

'The system is giving Devil Bringer activation instead of just giving it?'

[Your Devil Trigger would be similar to Nero's, so you have a power like Devil Bringer. Saving Issei has a huge canon impact. That's why the reward is good.]

'Will people notice?'

[I can make it look like a normal arm.]

'By the way, since when do you have a quest function?'

[This function was going to be activated when canon started, but the plot has already begun moving.]

'Fuck…'

With these thoughts in my mind, I left school and went home.

My nightmares didn't leave me again today.

That damn dream of my family dying — I see it every day.

At this rate, I'm going to turn into Kratos and slaughter everyone, but staying calm would be better.
