Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: A Dangerous Discovery

It took far longer than Michael had expected to eventually find Victor. Knowing that he had only a few hours before ten pm, Michael had begun visiting all the known hotspots for criminal activity in the area hoping to catch sight of the blond bastard that was his cousin.

Just when he was beginning to assume that his search was going to be in vain, Michael stumbled upon a familiar exquisite limousine parked just around the corner of a warehouse at an abandoned harbour. He recognized the place as a territory of one of the most notorious gangs in the city. The harbour had actually been on his list of places to search but he had been reluctant to go since he knew how dangerous the place was.

But the moment his eyes landed on that car, all bets were off. Michael instantly slowed down and did his best to conceal his presence as he snuck over towards the large warehouse. The building was unusually lit up inside, suggesting that there was a good chance that some sort of activity was going on.

Michael flattened his back against the wall and slipped inside the back doors of the warehouse. Taking care not to make a sound, he moved in between the large crates that were full of things he was not prepared to think about. At the moment, Michael only had a single target in mind. And that target soon became clearer as he reached the main section of the warehouse.

Just like he had expected, Victor and his mountain of a bodyguard were in there, along with several other men dressed in stylish red and black street wear. One of them, who was most likely the head of the group, sauntered forward with a sleek black suitcase in his hands.

'Looks like I arrived just in time for whatever transaction they're making,' he mused silently as he got into a relatively hidden corner that would allow him to get the footage he needed.

The moment Victor laid eyes on the suitcase, his expression turned suspiciously eager.

"Is that it?" He said, taking a step towards the gangster with the suitcase.

The latter raised a hand to stop the young man midstep and smiled crookedly. "Ah ah, not so fast. First you pay up. Where's the money?"

Regaining his composure instantly, Victor gestured for his bodyguard to bring out a hidden duffel bag. As the large man handed the bag over to Victor, Michael activated the recording feature of the device in his hands and raised it up to get a complete video of the incriminating transaction.

Victor tossed the bag at the gangster's feet and stared at him expectantly. "Happy now?"

The man smiled deviously and threw the suitcase up in the air, leaving Victor to scramble and catch it before it hit the concrete floor.

"What the fuck is wrong with you, Don?!" Victor yelled furiously while clutching the suitcase tightly.

The man named Don, cackled wildly and dismissed the young man with a disregarding wave in favor of opening the duffel bag. His grin widened even further when he saw the wads of money inside.

"Two point five million dollars in cold hard cash!" He whistled appreciatively and turned to his men who were also grinning as well. "Man, you rich kids sure have life easy for ya!"

As Victor and the man began exchanging words, Michael who was already intrigued by the amount of money involved, leaned out sightly from his hiding spot to get a clearer shot.

'To ask for all that money in cash.... What the hell is that suitcase?...' he wondered, unaware that the blinking red dot of the camera was still on.

In a flash, the laughing gang leader instantly snapped his head to the side and locked eyes with Michael. The man's grin evaporated when he realized what the device in Michael's hands was. The rest of the people in the room quickly caught on to the sudden change in the atmosphere and soon enough Michael found himself staring at the business ends of several guns. His body automatically dove backwards and dashed away as the crates around him exploded in a shower of splinters and bullets.

"Don't you idiots dare fuck up my merchandise!" Don roared over the gunfire. He zipped up the duffel bag and threw it to the nearest gangster before grabbing the man's gun and shoving him away. "You! Get that cash to the safehouse! The rest of you, come with me! We've got a rat to hunt!"
