Chapter 1 - Prologue

Will I keep wandering?

I stood at the demarcation that defined two different domains: one that held only a white Void, and the other that cradled the sum of existence, its memories, its souls, and its tangible truth: reality itself.

I lifted my eyes to the tree that held all realities in its branches.

I slowly approached it.

The surface beneath my feet was a tapestry of memories that writhed and merged before giving birth to another memory that shimmered.

Faces, familiar, and strange. A silence broken only by the murmuring of memories. I truly never understood what these memories even meant.

My gaze dropped to the tree that loomed into the sky. Its height was immeasurable. I only knew it was far beyond my imagination.

When I finally stood beneath the tree, its shadow fell over me. I stared up, transfixed. Its ink-black leaves each embodied memories of a life that lived elsewhere. Yet I couldn't imagine that I was a witness to all those lives it carried.

I gently reached for one of the leaves and closed my hand around it. Memories of a stranger flooded into me. Their life, how they were born, the voices of the people gathering around him, some smiling and holding him. I could see all of them. It was all from his perspective.

I relinquished the leaf, shaking my head before tilting it, my eyes drawn across the realm to the Tree of Void. Its leaves were pure white, giving it the appearance of a divine tree, elegant, mysterious, something straight out of heaven, they would say. Yet these leaves meant nothing, carrying only the emptiness within.

Then I lowered my gaze to the ground, staring at the twisting, bending memories of people and a reflection of my own that I couldn't recognize. The reflection was a blur. I felt like it wasn't my reflection, but someone else's acting like mine.

I wondered how it would be to live outside this realm.

Then suddenly, the air shook with a presence that did not belong here.

A presence. A living being, but why here?

Throughout the years I had lived here, no one had ever crossed the Void and Realities realm. I stared at my hands. Could I even defend myself? Someone who had learned everything by observing others… or was it the end of my misery?
