The story begins with the Perron family who move into an old farmhouse in Rhode Island. At first everything seems normal, but soon strange and scary things start happening in the house.
Doors open by themselves, clocks stop at 3:07 AM, and the family hears clapping sounds in the dark. The children start seeing a ghostly figure in the house. The mother, Carolyn Perron, becomes very frightened because she feels a dark presence around her.
Finally, the family calls famous paranormal investigators Ed Warren and Lorraine Warren to help them.
After investigating the house, the Warrens discover that the house once belonged to a witch named Bathsheba who cursed the land before she died. Her evil spirit now haunts the house and tries to possess Carolyn.
The Warrens perform a dangerous exorcism to save Carolyn and remove the evil spirit from the house. After a terrifying struggle, they finally succeed, and the family becomes safe again.
