Chapter 6 – First Real Fight
Kai had spent the entire day practicing in the forest. The shadows were no longer chaotic—they obeyed his every command. The shadow spear, shadow blades, and even small tendrils of darkness responded instantly.
The stranger observed silently from a distance. "You're ready," he said finally.
Kai looked up. "Ready for what?"
The stranger's lips curved into a faint smile. "To face someone who won't hold back. Your first real fight."
Kai's eyes narrowed. "Who?"
"Someone who knows more about the Demon King than you do."
A figure stepped from the shadows. Tall, armored, with a dark aura surrounding him. His eyes glowed faintly green.
Kai's heart skipped a beat. "Who… are you?"
The figure bowed slightly. "I am Zarek, guardian of the Demon King's legacy. Your awakening has attracted attention. I am here to test your strength."
Kai's grip tightened around the shadow spear. "Test me all you want. I won't lose."
Zarek smirked. "We shall see."
With that, he lunged forward with incredible speed. Kai barely raised his spear in time. The collision sent a shockwave through the forest, shattering trees and rocks.
Kai's body shook from the force, but the shadows responded immediately, forming shields and blades. He blocked, countered, and dodged, but Zarek's attacks were precise, relentless.
"You rely too much on brute force," Zarek said coldly. "Control, flow… feel the shadows, don't just wield them."
Kai's eyes glowed red as he focused. He let the shadows flow naturally, forming multiple shadow blades that moved like extensions of his body.
The next clash sent a series of explosions through the forest. Zarek's movements slowed slightly. "Impressive… not many first awakenings can handle this."
Kai smirked. "I've been underestimated my whole life. I don't plan to stay weak."
With a final surge, Kai combined all his shadow energy into a massive blade and swung it. Zarek barely dodged, but the attack forced him back several steps.
He straightened, smiling. "Good. You have potential. But remember… potential without control is meaningless."
Kai's chest heaved. He had won no victory yet, but for the first time, he felt like he could truly fight.
The system chimed inside his mind:

Kai flexed his fingers, the shadows swirling eagerly around him. "This is only the beginning," he whispered.
