Chapter 2 - chapter 2:the plan

Corbin and Miles approached the body cautiously. Near it, they noticed two more rifles, making a total of three. Miles handed the Saphir rifle to Corbin and said, "If anyone comes at you, protect yourself. I trust you."

"How did they not catch you?" Corbin asked, glancing around. "And why aren't you in class?"

"I was in P.E. outside," Miles explained. "Then I slipped into the school. I overheard five people strangling the guard. They split up-two and three."

Corbin's eyes widened as realization hit him. "So it's two against four… because I already killed one."

Corbin rubbed his forehead. "We need a plan. These people know how to use weapons. If we just fire blindly, we'll die-and we won't even take anyone down."

Miles nodded. "Then we need to get close somehow. That's the only way to hit them."

They tried to think of a strategy. But before they could finalize anything, gunshots and screams erupted down the hallway. The intruders had put their plan into action, trying their method on another classroom. They succeeded-but Corbin's target wasn't in that room. After a while, the noise stopped. Silence fell like a heavy blanket.

Miles shivered, fear written across his face. Corbin placed a hand on his shoulder. "It's okay. Nothing will happen to you."

Miles exhaled slowly. "Let's see how many bullets we have left," he said, trying to steady himself.

Miles counted: three shots in his rifle. Corbin checked his weapons: twelve rounds in the first rifle, one in the second. Corbin realized the second rifle wouldn't help much-it was only a single shot-but kept it anyway.

Their plan was simple: check if anyone in the classrooms had survived the attack. Time passed; no gunfire came. Slowly, they entered a room, cautious.

Suddenly, a mysterious figure struck them with a bat. They fell, dazed. Moments later, they got up and froze. A girl stood before them, her face smeared with blood.

They assumed the worst. She seemed on the verge of death. But then she explained, panting, "I spilled my friend's blood on my face so they'd think I was dead."

Corbin frowned. "did you saw what happened to the student?"

"They're in other classrooms… or already dead," Corbin lied. Then he explained what had happened so far. She listened, then nodded, understanding when he revealed he had killed one of the attackers and found the weapons.

"I didn't want to kill anyone," Corbin said. "But I had no choice. The weapon belonged to the guard."

She hesitated. "If you're willing to protect me, then maybe it's okay."

Corbin offered, "Do you want to join us?"

"I… I don't know," she said. "I'm scared I'll die."

Corbin smiled gently. "We'll protect you. You'll be safe. I'll even give you my rifle if you need it."

Miles added firmly, "Nothing will happen to you. You can be a hero. You can save people."

The girl hesitated, then nodded. "Alright… as long as you keep me safe, I'll help."

They asked her name. "Nyssa Rynn," she said. They introduced themselves.

Miles explained, "Right now, we're up against four armed people who know how to use weapons."

Corbin spoke up. "We need a plan."

After thinking, Corbin said he had one. "We can try it-but probably one of them will die… I'll take the risk."

"No!" Miles protested. "We don't want you to die!"

"I promised I'd protect you," Corbin said firmly. "I have nothing to lose."

Reluctantly, they agreed. "Just… try not to die," Miles added. Corbin nodded.

The Plan

Corbin's voice was steady. "I'll shout, 'Merlin! What are you doing outside? They could kill you!' The intruders will run there. I'll wear a jacket so they can't see my face, then run into the bathroom and wait. You two hide in the bathroom with rifles. Take them out when they enter."

"Got it," Miles and Nyssa said.

"Go to your positions and wait," Corbin instructed. "If I fail, wait for the police. Teachers have already called them."

They moved to their spots. Corbin scanned the hallway and saw only three intruders. Suddenly, he felt someone's breath on his neck, He said. "what are you doing here with that weapon boy?"

He panicked and fired three shots, hitting all of them in the stomach. The closest intruder screamed.

Corbin froze. They had known he was tracking them. One of them shouted the plan aloud, revealing he had a bulletproof suit. Corbin's heart raced. He had to think fast.

He retreated down the hallway, firing five of his remaining eight rounds carefully, just to keep them from spotting him.

The hallway was silent now, save for the dripping of blood onto the tiles. Corvin's chest heaved as he tried to steady his hands. Eight bullets remained in his rifle, but five of them had already been fired, carefully—to make sure the intruders wouldn't spot him as he retreated around the corner.

He crouched low, scanning for any movement. Something wasn't right. The intruders knew. They knew I was tracking them.

A voice echoed down the hallway.

one of the intruders shouted and

speaking loudly as if revealing the plan for all to hear. "We've got this mapped. And I'm wearing a bulletproof suit—so even if he tries to shoot me, it won't

Suddenly it goes quiet.

"They're here!" one of the intruders shouted.

Corvin froze. How could they know? Had someone been following him?

Corvin's heart pounded in his chest. Panic surged. He didn't have time to think—he fired at the intruder's legs.

Corvin's heart pounded in his chest. Panic surged. He didn't have time to think—he fired at the intruder's legs. Missed. Then, instinctively, he ran down the hallway, narrowly avoiding gunfire.

When he reached a corner, he paused. He had five bullets left—enough, maybe, if he used them carefully. He realized the intruders had been following him the whole time. He needed a new approach.

Corvin pulled out his phone and quickly texted Miles and Nyssa:

"Do the bathroom plan. Now."

Miles and Nyssa read the message and nodded. He ran to the bathroom as planned, preparing for the ambush.

Miles took a deep breath, crouching in a corner, waiting for the intruders to arrive. Two bullets… maybe that's enough.

Corvin ran to the bathroom while the three intruders run after him.

Corvin finally arrived and hides.

After a moment the three intruders appeared near the classroom. Nyssa peeked from her cover, calculating. She fired at the nearest one's stomach. The man fell, but not completely—he twitched, still alive.

Miles reacted immediately, firing at the second intruder with precision. One shot hit the leg, another the head. The man collapsed, motionless.

Corvin saw the first intruder still moving. Adrenaline surged through his veins. He fired his last bullet at the man's head. Silence.

For a moment, Corvin, Nyssa and Miles just stared. They had survived. They were still alive.

Slowly, they crept out of the corner. Relief washed over them. They were no longer hiding—they had won, at least for now.

Then, a sudden movement.

The intruder Corvin had shot in the leg managed to crawl into the room. He raised his weapon and fired. The bullet grazed Nyssa's shoulder. Pain exploded through her, her blood warming her clothes.

Nyssa stumbled backward, clutching her shoulder.the last intruder ran toward Miles and corvin. Miles fired the final shot at the intruder. The man collapsed, finally motionless.

Miles, who had been crouched in fear, now breathed steadily. "Is everyone… okay?" He whispered.

Nyssa nodded, wiping blood from her face. "We're fine-for now.

Sirens approached in the distance. Soon, the school hallways were filled with uniformed officers. They split into groups of three, each with four members, moving systematically to secure the building. One team approached the classroom where Corvin, Miles, and Nyssa were hiding.

The officers found the intruders' bodies. Blood pooled on the floor. The three students were shaken, exhausted, and in shock. Two were crying, and one lay collapsed with a wound to the shoulder. The officers immediately called for medical help.

"Stay here. Don't move until the police secure the area," one officer instructed.

Minutes later, another team arrived to check on the students in classroom 12-3. A tall officer looked down at them and asked, "Do you know where the intruders are?"

Miles, voice trembling and loud, shouted, "We killed them all!"

His voice cracked with fear. "Please… don't arrest us! I—I just defended myself!" Tears ran down his face.

The four officers exchanged glances, then nodded. "Follow us," one said calmly.
