Chapter 1 - THE BOY WHO LOST EVERYTHING

The Boy Who Lost Everything

The rain had been falling for hours. The sky was dark, and thunder echoed across the small town of Ravenhill. People hurried through the streets, trying to reach their homes before the storm became worse. But in a quiet corner near an old bus station, a young boy sat alone on a broken bench.

His name was Daniel Carter.

Daniel was only seventeen years old, but his eyes looked older than his age. They carried a sadness that most people would never understand.

Just a few days ago, Daniel had a family, a home, and dreams about the future.

Now, everything was gone.

He slowly looked at the small photograph in his hand. It showed a happy family—his father smiling proudly, his mother standing beside him, and Daniel between them. The photo had been taken on Daniel's fifteenth birthday.

Daniel touched the picture carefully.

"I'm sorry… Mom… Dad," he whispered.

Two nights ago, a terrible accident changed his life forever.

His parents had been driving home from work when a truck lost control on the highway. The collision was so violent that neither of them survived.

Daniel still remembered the moment when the police officer knocked on his door.

He still remembered the cold feeling spreading through his chest when he heard the news.

Since that moment, his world had fallen apart.

The relatives who once called him family suddenly disappeared. His uncle sold the house and told Daniel he could not take care of him.

"Life is hard enough already," his uncle had said coldly. "You need to take care of yourself now."

And just like that, Daniel became alone.

The rain continued falling harder.

Daniel had only a small backpack beside him. Inside were a few clothes, some books, and the last things that belonged to his parents.

His stomach growled quietly. He had not eaten since yesterday morning.

But hunger was not the worst pain he felt.

Loneliness was.

He stood up slowly and began walking through the empty streets.

Streetlights flickered as the storm grew stronger.

Daniel did not know where he was going.

He simply walked.

After a while, he reached the edge of the town where an old bridge crossed the dark river. The wind blew strongly, and the sound of the rushing water echoed below.

Daniel stopped in the middle of the bridge.

He looked down at the river.

The water moved violently under the storm.

For a moment, Daniel wondered if anyone would notice if he disappeared.

But then he remembered his mother's voice.

"Daniel," she used to say, "no matter how hard life becomes, you must keep moving forward."

His eyes filled with tears.

"I'm trying, Mom," he whispered.

Suddenly, a strange sound echoed behind him.

Footsteps.

Daniel turned around.

An old man stood at the end of the bridge, holding a black umbrella. His long coat moved with the wind, and his silver hair glowed under the streetlight.

The man slowly walked closer.

"Dangerous place to stand during a storm," the old man said calmly.

Daniel wiped his eyes quickly. "I'm fine."

The old man studied him carefully.

"You don't look fine," he replied.

Daniel looked away. "It doesn't matter."

For a few seconds, the two stood in silence while thunder rumbled across the sky.

Then the old man spoke again.

"Tell me, boy," he said, "do you believe in destiny?"

Daniel frowned.

"I don't know."

The old man smiled slightly.

"Most people don't. Until the day destiny finds them."

Daniel felt confused.

"Why are you talking to me?" he asked.

The old man reached into his coat and pulled out a small, strange object.

It was a silver pocket watch.

But something about it felt… unusual.

The watch was glowing faintly.

"This watch," the old man said quietly, "has the power to change a person's life."

Daniel looked at him suspiciously.

"Is this some kind of joke?"

The old man shook his head.

"No joke. Only a choice."

He held the watch toward Daniel.

"If you accept this watch, your life will never be normal again."

Lightning flashed across the sky.

Daniel stared at the glowing watch.

"Why me?" he asked.

The old man's eyes suddenly looked deep and mysterious.

"Because you are someone who has already lost everything."

Daniel's heart skipped a beat.

"And people who lose everything," the old man continued, "are the only ones brave enough to change the world."

The storm grew louder.

Daniel hesitated.

A part of him wanted to walk away.

But another part of him felt something strange… like fate was standing in front of him.

Slowly, he reached out his hand.

The moment his fingers touched the watch, a powerful light exploded around them.

Daniel gasped.

The world around him disappeared.

For a few seconds, he felt like he was falling through endless darkness.

Then suddenly—

Everything stopped.

Daniel opened his eyes.

He was no longer standing on the bridge.

Instead, he was inside a massive ancient hall made of black stone. Giant pillars stretched toward the ceiling, and strange symbols glowed on the walls.

Daniel's heart began racing.

"What… is this place?"

A deep voice echoed across the hall.

"Welcome, Daniel Carter."

Daniel spun around.

The old man now stood at the center of the hall.

But something was different.

He no longer looked like a normal human.

His eyes glowed with ancient power.

"Who are you?" Daniel asked nervously.

The old man slowly raised his hand.

"I am the Keeper of Time."

Daniel froze.

"And you," the Keeper continued, "have been chosen as the next Traveler."

Daniel's mind struggled to understand.

"Traveler?"

The Keeper nodded.

"Yes. A person who can travel between worlds."

Daniel felt like his brain had stopped working.

"Worlds…? You mean like planets?"

The Keeper smiled.

"Not planets. Realities."

He waved his hand.

Suddenly, thousands of glowing images appeared in the air around them.

Each one showed a different world.

A world of magic.

A world of monsters.

A world of advanced technology.

A world ruled by dragons.

Daniel stared in shock.

"These are the infinite worlds of existence," the Keeper said.

"And with the watch you accepted… you now have the power to travel between them."

Daniel looked down at the watch in his hand.

It was glowing brighter than before.

"Why give this power to me?" he asked quietly.

The Keeper looked at him with a serious expression.

"Because a great disaster is coming."

The images around them suddenly changed.

Daniel saw worlds burning.

Cities collapsing.

Creatures of darkness destroying everything.

"What is that?" Daniel asked fearfully.

"The Void," the Keeper said.

"It is spreading across realities… consuming every world it touches."

Daniel swallowed hard.

"And I'm supposed to stop it?"

The Keeper nodded slowly.

"Yes."

Daniel laughed weakly.

"I'm just a normal guy."

"No," the Keeper replied.

"You were a normal guy."

The watch in Daniel's hand began glowing again.

"But now," the Keeper said,

"you are the only one who can save countless worlds."

Daniel looked at the endless images of different realities.

His old life was gone.

His family was gone.

Everything he once knew had disappeared.

Maybe…

Maybe this was his chance to find a new purpose.

Daniel closed his hand around the watch.

"Okay," he said quietly.

"I'll do it."

The Keeper smiled.

"Good."

The hall suddenly began shaking.

"Because your first world," the Keeper said,

"is already waiting for you."

A bright portal opened in front of Daniel.

Wind rushed through the hall as the portal pulled him forward.

Daniel took one last deep breath.

Then he stepped into the unknown.

And his journey across infinite worlds began.
