Chapter 2 – The Bomb
The situation room filled quickly.
Photos of a collapsed parking structure appeared on the screen.
Casualties.
Smoke.
Emergency crews.
"This happened thirty minutes ago in Brooklyn," Isobel said.
"Omar and Maggie were already investigating a group tied to the bombing networks from the 2017 New York City attempted bombing case."
Omar leaned on the table.
"The explosives were hidden in structural supports."
My eyes moved across the images.
Concrete fractures.
Load-bearing columns.
Charge placement.
I already knew what I was looking at.
"This wasn't random," I said.
Maggie crossed her arms.
"You see something?"
I pointed at the screen.
"They placed the charges exactly where the compression loads peak."
Omar frowned.
"You're saying…?"
"They had someone who understands construction."
I paused.
"Or engineering."
Silence filled the room.
Isobel looked at me.
"Can you find them?"
I met her eyes.
"Give me two hours."
