Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 – First Steps in Magic

Aditya's hands trembled as he looked at the faint glow circling his fingers. The energy pulsed unpredictably — not code, not physics, not any formula he had learned before — yet it felt like a system waiting to be understood.

The forest around him was alive. Trees shimmered, rivers whispered, and the air crackled with magic. Every movement of his body, every thought, seemed to ripple the energy in unpredictable ways.

He focused, recalling army drills and engineering logic. Observe, predict, adapt. He extended his hand again. This time, the glow took form — a small sphere of energy hovering just above his palm. Carefully, he tossed it toward a moss-covered rock. The sphere bounced harmlessly, pulsing in response to his will.

From the shadows, the watcher leaned slightly, eyes glimmering. Clever… not reckless. He adapts quickly.

Encouraged, Aditya experimented further. He tried to manipulate the sphere's shape and trajectory, combining instinct and knowledge. It curved around obstacles, hovered midair, and even accelerated slightly when he willed it.

Then, a rustling behind him. A small creature — wings like stained glass, eyes curious but cautious — approached. Aditya froze, studying it. The creature mirrored his movements, twitching and responding to the pulsing energy.

He smiled faintly. "So this magic… it listens, responds, and reacts. Like a system… just different rules."

He tested again, directing the sphere in a slow arc toward a fallen branch. The energy swirled, lifting the branch gently and placing it neatly against a tree. Control is possible, he thought. It's not like Algorithmic Arts… it's alive.

The watcher stepped slightly closer, still hidden. This one will learn fast. But raw ability is only part of survival. Danger comes for those who rely solely on instinct.

Aditya sensed the warning in his gut. The magical forest wasn't just a playground — it was a training ground, testing both skill and mind. And he had no choice but to adapt.

For the first time since arriving in this world, he felt a thrill — the kind that comes from real challenge, discovery, and growth.
